You seem to have just covered the more exclusive 55+ communities. I recently bought a tiny/small home in Desert Hot Springs, near Desert Edge and I love it. No, it doesn't have a golf course on site but there are several in the area, they also have most of the other activities, plus they all have the mineral springs spa's that DHS is famous for. Also, the views are some of the best, I have a mountain view from every window of my home. I paid cash for mine and there is a very small HOA, so should anything go wrong in the economy I will be able to live very comfortably on my social security. Most of us are middle class and we have found that we can live the dream and the life style at a fraction of the cost. I love it here and buying a home in DHS was the best thing I have done for myself, ever
