    I have used an hd homerun quatro 4 tuner ota device going on five years now. I can watch my over the air channels on four different devices at the same time with DVR functionality. I ditched cable and satellite years ago. These type devices work great. Have fun Shane.

    We rarely watch broadcast tv, but this is super cool. Love it.

    AirTV 2 has two tuners. I've been using this setup for a few years now, and it works great. I have that same RCA antenna in my attic, and its doing a great job for such a little antenna.

    I have been using tivo for years to do this without any subscription costs. Love it when needed. And looks better too.

    I'll add any updates here. So far, so good though..
    UPDATE 1: Adjusting my antenna got me 3 more channels and a better signal overall. Moving to ethernet made things MUCH faster: www.threads.net/@shanec.irl/post/CzHB0ofAWON
    UPDATE 2: Tried to switch to a different flash drive and it would pop up asking to format, I'd click OK and nothing would happen. Solved by inserting the drive to my PC and running "Clean" command in diskpart. Now the app actually formats the drive.

    Thank you so much for a video like this! Because UA-cam TV is on the way out because they keep on rising prices!

    Hi I have had ota tv for years now. What I would like is to stream (get my tv) in several locations. First the main one in the house, another tv in my basement and finally a tv in my garage. Would this unit do that? I know your first question is does my wifi reach to the location I want to have the tvs located. Yes it does. If you feel this system will work for my situation I will purchase the unit. Here is what I currently have in place. My out door anti, directly hooked into the back of my smart tv. With this set up Im guessing I will go into the air tv 2 instead of the back of a smart tv. With that it will stream from there. Right? Again I want to have the ability to view ota tv in different locations (in the house tv, basement tv and garage tv. Will this unit do this? Thanks K

    For DVR and to pickup ATS 3.0 Nextgen channels the Zapper box is an excellent choice.

    How much better is something like the antenna that you got better than the ones that you just use inside your house?

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  7 місяців тому +1

      With an indoor one, I got like 20 channels and most of them stuttered badly. It's a lot better.

    This looks amazing. I guess I thought when they killed off analog broadcasting that that was it. So, are the local digital stations now broadcasting their content through the airwaves free to all?

    Literally ironically just installed the same setup as well yesterday. I’d highly recommend a powered Antenna as it seems like Airtv 2 can’t handle the same as a regular tv in terms of signal strength.

      Nice. I can't say I'm having any issues with the antenna that I have, I considered getting some sort of amplifier but ended up deciding to try this way first. Glad I didn't spend the extra money 😂

      AirTV splits the.signal between its two tuners, whereas a direct line to the TV is not split. There are things you can do to mitigate that, like a pre-amplifier. If you went with a Televes pre-amp, you could run one. cable directly to your TV, and the other one to the AirTV. That setup works well for me.

      @@wesmckean1443 are you suggesting an amplified signal to the AirTV? As I attempted to find the strongest signal using an older tv as the monitor when I connected it to AirTv the signal was not as solid.

    I wonder if I can use that are TV to to stream content to my devices my mobile devices when I'm away from home you know channels that require you to be connected to your in-home Wi-Fi I wonder if the air TV two will bypass that and will allow me to stream content when I'm away

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  7 місяців тому +1

      The input for this box is a coaxial cable, so whatever your streaming from it has to get to it from that

    yeah I use sling with range experts antenna but yeah man, that music man amp you have there is pretty sweet. Owned the same amp at one time. Leo Fender was the man. but yeah, air tv anywhere is worth it. air tv 2 kinda sucks in comparison.

    I've had a similar set up years ago and the support for the app and the hardware just stopped.. It was called slingbox.. I fear your setup will only work as long as sling supports it which theirs no telling..

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  7 місяців тому +1

      It's been going for a long time so far. Many years. I would be pretty surprised if sling went under these days. Good news is, if it ever does stop I'm out to 70 bucks for the box. Not a huge loss.

    EDIT: nm it looks like you could but you would need to sub to setup the DVR smh. I'd rather just do a totally subscription free setup instead.

      You can use up to a 2TB drive to record to, but that might just be for play/pause.

    This will work until ATSC 3.0 starts rolling out with DRM. Tuners are supposed to get updates to make it work, but broadcast TV shouldn't have such restrictions. *sigh* Circa 2004 or so, I was using an HD Homerun and watching the unencrypted channels on my cable. I had that hooked up to my Media Center and would time-shift shows. I then took it a step further and would process the shows to clip out commercials, then would automatically reencode the show so that it would download to my Zune to watch shows on my bus ride.
