Good to hear your thoughts on Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop! I’m really looking forward to that one. Good to know about the pacing, too- usually I love slow-paced stories but lately I’ve been struggling to keep focus with them. (Still really excited to read the book but glad to know what the pacing will be like beforehand!)
I found it very cozy and calming, so a good one to dip in between other, heavier topics for reading. :D Yes, she just said the same thing! lol
Oh I think you will love it.
Ha! Had to click on it when I saw Hyunam-dong Bookshop on here, as it's a niche book, and I just reviewed it too, with a buddy discussion to boot! Even an interview with the author and the translator... 🥰
Sounds like you had the full experience, great!
OK, my most binge-able recent reads: (CR: The Rachel INcident--very fast!) The Mars House, the Lane Winslow mysteries, The Fox Wife, either of Angeline Boulley's Indigenous YA novels--packed with social history and action. 🥰
Have not heard of any of those, so looking them up!
70 hours oh dear god i know its a classic but agggh. At least its not raining elephants and whales. Cozy reads yes....
I fully agree, but it's better than reading 1000+ pages 🤣
The last thing was season 2 of Only Murders in the Building-watched it in one weekend a few months ago. Book wise, I’m not a binger really. I’ve never been a person to read a book in a day. 2 or 3 days is usually my “bingeing a book” time. I just get bored if I read for more than an hour or two at a time.
Hahah, I so feel you. That is what happens to me too, unless it's one of those unputdownable books. They are not the norm though.
The thing about the Tale of Genji is that it wasn't supposed to be a novel. It's said to be the first novel, actually. The author wrote a chapter, shared with friends, and they all asked what happened next, so she wrote more. That's my understanding of it.
Yeah, something like that. The introduction adresses a lot of that. It is rather cool, still nothing but affairs in terms of story is rather boring :D
The Take of Genji is one of those books that I know I will never read.
Understandable. I admit I got the audiobooks in a 2 for 1 sale that got me into this mess :D
Bingeable-wise… ‘The Shards’ Bret Easton Ellis
Oh, that wasnt expected. I think it's too violent for me, from what I understood so far.
@@1book1review Yes I thought that too but enough people had recommended it for me to give it a go and I was surprised. I’d avoided his books in the past but of course having enjoyed the Shards raced off to ‘Imperial bedrooms’, which after the first couple of pages is way too dark for me. I’m also really enjoying ‘The wind up bird chronicles’ by Murakami having struggled with some of his other books and I definitely describe this one as binge-able
@@neilturner2368 oh thanks for sharing that.
