Luckily only a small ride in the dark to the campsite, I would have been in trouble doing any long distance at night in there. Yep a lot of drops, very humbled by the little desert that's for sure. Thanks mate!
Great video mate. You've bitten off a big bite with that KLR with all that gear and the amount dirt you have in front of you. Keeping a positive attitude played a key role in you doing so well. Looking forward to the next video.
Cheers mate. Yep I agree, in hindsight, was maybe not a great decision to load up like that, but it did help me switch on and see just how hard and dangerous the trip was going to be. Prior to this I had no idea this is how hard sand riding would be. Thanks for the kind words, I always try my best to keep that positive attitude up when I am alone, things can go bad quickly if you let it slip.
You Lucky Bugga, I was waiting to see who would get that honour, it deserves a set of steak knives for sure.. Congratufreakenlations Andy! Looking forward to your next Adventures 😊👍
@NotShookADV Mate you put the RRRRRRRR INTO KLR Brother, forgive the deception mate, I had a spare nick from a long time ago, I couldn't help being the 1000th sub, it was destiny... you'll go along way Andy, great editing, it inspires me 😊👍much love and respect 🙏 Bro
For sale, KLR650 barely used off-road, only dropped once or twice haha. I'm annoyed I have watched your adventure backwards, definitely good to watch mate.
Your doing really well. I learnt to ride in the sandy Malley country. You just have to sit back. Relax and power on. Look where you want to go which is often not the way that you are going.
Cheers mate! Yeah this is actually great advice, so true, but so counterintuitive. By the end of this trip I think I was just starting to realise this.
Cheers mate, It certainly is tricky deep sand. Looking forward to sharing the Simpson crossing, it was a lot of fun, with plenty of battles along the way.
Yep it was a real grind, I don't think I would ever do it again on a heavy bike. Im really glad you like the new format, I think it helps me tell the story a bit better. I find it quite tricky, so hopefully with a bit of practice, my narrating gets better. Thanks for the feedback.
Do you think the KLR is just too heavy in general or was it the gear and file that pushed it over the edge? I just got a gen 3 KLR a couple months ago. 1st adv bike. Went off road for the 1st time this weekend. Easy route, just getting my feet wet. Eventually hoping to tackle some heavy stuff like you do.
Na not too heavy in general, the weight of the klr isn’t a problem for me now generally. The sand in this place is just too deep and brutal for bigger bikes though imo, so I probably wouldn’t do it again on the KLR. I have taken the KLR into bigger and badder deserts on this trip though and it’s been great. Great stuff! Congrats on the purchase! The KLR is my first ADV bike too! It does take some time to get used to the weight if you are coming from a smaller bike, and a while to get used to lifting it, but once you do, I reckon you will love it.
Thanks for the context and details. Looking forward to see the rest of this journey. I already love my KLR. There is just something about it that makes me smile.
Thanks a lot for the comment! I really appreciate it! I’m glad you are enjoying the channel, and comparing to a channel like 4WD 24/7 is a huge compliment! Cheers legend.
I love your spirit Brother, get knocked down, get back up again, im glad you didnt stack it through that bog hole of death.. back breaks on the KLR are so sketchy at times, like fairdinkum its the 21st century, glad it wasn't anything major. Well done navigating the deep sand, im just about to watch your simpson desert crossing.. 998 subs, congratulations Andy, a well deserved milestone mate..😊👍🍻
Great job mate! Going to have to get out there some time. Only ever ridden some easy sand at Anglesea. Must of been hard work carrying all that extra weight. Look forward to the next one
Thanks mate! Worth a visit for sure, really beautiful up there, and some really nice camping on the river too. Yeah the extra weight definitely made my life a bit hard, but was good practice. Cheers, looking forward to sharing the next one!
Far out, that’s tough going! When you said you dropped tyre pressure and it was instantly better, what were you at, and what did you go down to? Enjoyed this episode and definitely looking forward to the next vid!
I was running around 23 & 19 before I dropped to 20 & 17. In hindsight I could and should have gone lower again, but I just had no idea what I was doing early on. Im glad you enjoyed the episode, Im looking forward to sharing the next one with you!
Cheers mate! I did have my magnesium supplements with me on this trip thankfully, and the cramping did calm down after this ride. They are a must for me.
As someone who lives in Dimboola and naturally rides around the area - there's something really mixed-up in the edit. You seem to be jumping from one place to another (like 10 or 20 k's) from one scene to the next. The ground looks fairly wet with a lot of moisture in the sand, which is the best (and probably only) time to go. Once the middle of summer has dried up the sand, it just swallows you up no matter how fast you try to skim across it. Hard going anyway you do it though - well done!
It’s editing 100% in chronological order. But I yeah I know what you mean. I rewatched it a couple of days ago and it is a terrible edit. There was a big part of the ride that rained, so I couldn’t have the GoPro on as my mic isn’t waterproof. I probably should have given some more narration or something to help tell the story better. Also just how dangerous it was turning the go pro on and off, can cause you to crash. Just fatigue too, didn’t help with getting footage. Ah Dimboola! What an epic place to live. You must know the desert like the back of your hand! Yeah it was all pretty wet, thankfully. But with the weight of the KLR it didn’t provide much compaction. But I trust you and will never enter that desert in the dry on the KLR! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for staying tuned in for the episode! The suspension upgrade is a game changer, completely different on and off the road. I didnt get to give it a great offroad test in this episode, I do have a bit of a play around with the preloads, but when I get further into the trip it really pays off. The only thing I would say, if you are regularly carrying this much extra weight(fuel/water) I would defo go for the harder spring in the rear. Its perfect with me (88KG) and just luggage though.
Great video! Looking forward to seeing how the KLR goes, what tyres did you choose and were you happy with choice? Did you do the doohickey with your other mods?
Thanks a lot! I ran with the Motoz adventure on the rear, and the Motoz desert HT on the front. Very happy with both. Initially I had the desert HT on the rear too but changed it out at the last minute, and very glad I did, because I wouldn’t have made it home on that one, only just made it on the adventure. Na haven’t done the doohickey, I did consider it for a time. I’m mechanically extremely far from an expert, but I don’t think I will do it.
The condition of that sand is the best it gets, you need to carry speed and stand up holding the bike tight with your legs....also way too much weight on the rear, put some of your soft bags on the front crash bars....
Yeah a few people have mentioned that about the sand, makes me think I never want to be in there on the KLR when it’s soft and dry, sounds like a nightmare. Yep these are great tips thanks mate!
Hey Tristan, off the bike I run a Rode wireless GO mic, & on the bike I run a Joby Lav mic into a gopro microphone adapter, all cable tied to a dango gripper, then attached to the chin of my helmet.
I just deleted your last comment as it made no sense. I think you are coming from a place of trying to help me which I really appreciate, but lift your game or I will remove you from my channel.
That's some heavy going man, top job 💪
Cheers mate! It was a real slog.
😮Little Deseert at night !...let alone on a loaded bike. Good job getting through there on your own and all those drops😬👍
Luckily only a small ride in the dark to the campsite, I would have been in trouble doing any long distance at night in there. Yep a lot of drops, very humbled by the little desert that's for sure. Thanks mate!
Awesome job. Can’t wait for the next part
Thanks for tuning in. Next episode is a chance for some redemption!
Great video mate. You've bitten off a big bite with that KLR with all that gear and the amount dirt you have in front of you. Keeping a positive attitude played a key role in you doing so well. Looking forward to the next video.

Yes ! I was the 1000th subscriber... So cool 😎 Great Channel mate, congratulations on your milestone..
You Lucky Bugga, I was waiting to see who would get that honour, it deserves a set of steak knives for sure.. Congratufreakenlations Andy! Looking forward to your next Adventures 😊👍
I’m blown away that this many people are getting something out of the channel, means a lot.
Steak knives haha!
Huge VIP sub, Welcome to the channel. I’m glad you are enjoying the content!
Tough going well done.
Thanks mate!
fantastic, awesome work. looking forward to the next video.
Thanks, Next episode is going to be a good one!
Loved it, Feck sand. You're doing a top job on the KLR. I am looking forward to your next episode.
Cheers mate! Yep the sand was a bit of a shock, its hard work on the heavy bikes. Thanks for watching.
For sale, KLR650 barely used off-road, only dropped once or twice haha. I'm annoyed I have watched your adventure backwards, definitely good to watch mate.
Hahah yeah I have really put this bike through the ringer…
Cheers mate, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome effort crossing Little Desert on the trusty KLR, it ain't the easiest of sand!!
Looking forward to watching the Simpson crossing.
Cheers mate, It certainly is tricky deep sand. Looking forward to sharing the Simpson crossing, it was a lot of fun, with plenty of battles along the way.
Well soo glad to see u again Mister.....love you and your vids...
Great to be back! thanks for the kind words.
Great video mate, looks like tough work. Keen to see the next one!
Thanks mate! Yeah it was a hard slog of a ride. Looking forward to sharing the next one.
You put the Hard into Hard Enduro. Welcome to desert deep sand riding at night on the heaviest KLR you have ever ridden. Respect.
I wasn't doing myself any favours was I... Thanks for watching.
Nice one mate!
Thanks legend!
Excellent work mate! Looking forward to the next one 🙂
Thanks legend!
wow!! good on you, your doing great. Thanks for the journey :)
Cheers David, I appreciate the support! Thanks for tuning in.
I was getting arm plump just watching lol. Great job mate 👍💪
Haha yeah the old arms were sore after this one! Thanks for watching mate.
Holy shit man, well done. You had me holding my breath on this one. Sand riding is a bitch!
Cheers mate! Yeah I really battled, but started to figure it out towards the end.
Thanks for watching.
Let’s go! I like your new format with the narration , maps, etc. very nice work. That route looks like a real grind. Good on you bro.

Really entertaining video. Cheers for sharing it.
Thanks legend, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I am so glad to have found this channel I am from the US and love your style and your attitude just a good dude! Reminds me of 4WD 24/7 on a bike lol
Thanks a lot for the comment! I really appreciate it!

Yeah the brakes are a cursed design. Cheers mate! Haha yep survived the big hole of death, Thanks for watching!
@@NotShookADV it's my pleasure 🙏
Great job mate! Going to have to get out there some time. Only ever ridden some easy sand at Anglesea.

I hate riding in sand, you did well riding the big girl with load on through that stuff
Yeah it’s not a lot of fun at all in the deep sand.
Cheers! And thanks for watching
Far out, that’s tough going!

Good job mate! About “cramping every 2min” - probably just some Magnesium deficiency. Any good supplement (like MagSup or similar) might help. Cheers!
Cheers mate! I did have my magnesium supplements with me on this trip thankfully, and the cramping did calm down after this ride. They are a must for me.
Calcium as well. I use both. Sever cramping especially after exercise.

Great job! Sand on a fully loaded KLR? No thanks
Not the best setup for the sand that's for sure. Thanks for watching.
Ripper mate. Been waiting for this video since you posted your teaser the other day. How did you find the suspension upgrade?
Thanks for staying tuned in for the episode! The suspension upgrade is a game changer, completely different on and off the road. I didnt get to give it a great offroad test in this episode, I do have a bit of a play around with the preloads, but when I get further into the trip it really pays off. What is your mic setup like
Hey Tristan, off the bike I run a Rode wireless GO mic, & on the bike I run a Joby Lav mic into a gopro microphone adapter, all cable tied to a dango gripper, then attached to the chin of my helmet.
Yep.... sand hard work.... not a lot of fun really... Good job but. :)
Yeah that sums it up pretty well, not a great deal of fun.
Thanks for watching!
Why would you even do that at night by yourself.😮
I see where you are coming from, but if that worries you this might not be the channel for you boss.
I just deleted your last comment as it made no sense. I think you are coming from a place of trying to help me which I really appreciate, but lift your game or I will remove you from my channel.
Too much shit on board. Stand up in sand.
Yep I agree with both of these. First time in sand, learnt a lot.
