Arranged and conducted by Nicholas Hersh. Sarah Harball, viola (Freddie); Patrick Hunninghake, trumpet (Brian); Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Ad Hoc Orchestra. Recorded Feb. 10, 2013. All due credit to Queen in their infinite glory.

Absolutely beautiful. It may have been introduced as rock and roll but he poured his heart and soul into this when he wrote it. I've never heard this played by a full orchestra before. I only wish my wife were alive to hear it. She loved this piece of music. In my home opinion this will one day grow to be a symphonic masterpiece. And demonstrated here, it certainly proved that it belongs in a category all its own. Bravo.
I always wondered how that would have sounded via orchestration. It was not disappointing. Amazingly well done.
Somewhere, Freddie Mercury is smiling and laughing.

This is such a beautiful arrangement. When I listen to it I feel sad and it reminds me of Freddie :(

I love how this has been translated into an orchestral piece - the vocals Queen uses lends so nicely to this form. And I love the viola for something different - it has such a beautiful mellow sound which can also be very powerful!

Love the trumpet and in general brass section in place of heavy (awesome) guitar
I like it... but certain parts of it feel a bit rushed. Kinda wish they would have tried a bit less to mimic the percussion from the original song and slowed the rock portion of the song down to something more resembling of a march.

WOW. This is pure perfection. You just nailed it with every nuance in this masterpiece, it is beautifully arranged and perfectly played. The trumpet solo is just amazing. Nicholas- your arranging and conducting skills are legendary.

False harmonics - notate the pitch you want 2 octaves down, plus a diamond notehead a perfect fourth above. Check out the wikipedia page on artificial harmonics, it's got a good example.

One of the best versions of bohemian Rhapsody i've ever heard.
For such a Advanced sounding piece , all the sharps and flats, quite amazing, but what really gives the Flavor is one might call it , was the Splendid Violist, i myself, thought it was lovely,although i am just one person, anyone with fine taste could see, although, I myself was over joyed before watching this because I myself Play the Viola, I'd like to compliment the Intonation of everyone at all times, lost of practice must have gone into this piece indeed.Good Job.

in the orchestra as you hear them? they are as Mr Hersh said false harmonics but with a gliss between the G and F. However with this sliding sound, it doesn't really replicate how the original song by Queen would sound, but a great 'stylistic' idea, but I would just interpret the whole step up Bb D F Bb G, F, all in pizzicato, keep it very sparse.

I like this 100% better than the studio version. Feels a lot more real. Much more like a performance and less "staged". Sometimes, it's the small imperfections that creates "the moment" you'll remember all your life.
