The image out from DJI OA5 is much easier to colour grade and match the footages from my mirrorless camera. AP2 is too digital just like it’s predecessor AP1 😏
I don't think so to be honest, I mix footage from both companies in with my full frame shots and it's pretty easy to grade and mix. I think both look good, but the Ace Pro 2 can see a lot more in the dark and has less jitters, this is a fact.
I think Philip you just suger coat little bit, Ace pro use AI which you can do in many software out there, the matter is the 10bit quality from dji, osmo
I really don't think the 10-bit has too much of an effect to be honest, but that's just my opinion. I actually can't see too much difference. I don't use sugar.
Holy cow, they ARE both great. Thank you for doing a useful comparison. Please keep it up. Some other content creators videos are like “let’s show off camera x during a weekend in Maui”. Cue 10 second jump cuts at weird angles in perfect lighting. EVERY camera should look good there. Your videos are more applicable to real world uses. Love the format. Repeatable and consistent. Certainly closer to the climate I’ll be using a camera in. I know which one I’m buying.
I don't know, I still think OA5 is better... more natural looking to me, and I also feel there are more jitters in AcePro 2, which is really weird and should be the opposite, but yeah I do see more details in ace pro 2 but the color is too bad for my taste.
More jitters in the Ace Pro 2, really? No way, it jitters no way as much as the Action 5 Pro. Well, colour here is a preference, the DJI is cool, the Insta360 is warm.
@@PhillipSkraba Ace Pro 2 is less jitter in some scenes and more in some, I expected it to be better than OA5 in every scenarios but maybe I am asking too much. Also other than the colour thing, what annoying me the most is how AcePro auto smoothing your face like a cheap phone camera software, I just can't deny seeing it, it make your face look so cheap and bad quality, it is showed not only in your video but in all reviewers' videos and it is so annoying and bad that I can't take this camera seriously, I don't know if other people would agree with me, I mean DJI is also doing some smoothing mimick but I am fine with that's smoothing, not in the Ace Pro 2 case though. Anyway still very good review video, I just expected Ace Pro 2 to be better.
thank you for this review. the simple fact that the dji is smaller lighter and battery lasts longer and is in stock is the reason why i bought it today. my trip is tommorow and ace pro is out of stock.
I just rewatched your comparison of OA5 vs Ace Pro and it seems to me like 1st generation had less jitters and was a bit more natural looking. It'd be great to see the comparison between Ace Pro 2 and 1 now :) Thanks Phil!
I think they just look very similar. And I think also what you’re seeing, and I’m saying this is an action five user who also loves the Ace pro, is the fact that once DJI updated their latest firmware the low light capabilities greatly improved. Now it’s neck and neck. His og comparison has the DJI on launch firmware. It’ll be interesting to see how these cameras grow as both of their firmware gets updates and they just get better and better.
The price is pretty similar if you get the Ace Pro 2 with one battery, I'd say they're pretty close, but if I had to take one out in the evening it would be the Ace Pro 2.
I want to use one on my motorbike helmet for only dashcam purposes, which of the 2 cameras would you believe would display numberplates of surrounding vehicles more clearly? Being on the helmet there will be constant head movement also. Thanks.
I think both would be fine, though the Ace Pro 2 has a dedicated dashcam mode, it may be a few grams heavier, but I use it on my full face and I really don't feel it. For low light, the Ace Pro 2 will work much better and be clearer without jitters.
Great comparison! Sorry you got a sore throat but I like your Ai voice! They both look surprisingly good. Hard to choose “best”. In some shots the ace takes it and in some the DJI seems to have the edge. I’m an action five user although I do have my eyes on the ace pro two and I gotta say that I’m really impressed with both of them. Good job on both! I came into this expecting the ace pro 2 to completely destroy the action five but in reality, they’re very close. Wow. Action cameras have come a LONG way. Appreciate your real world / non hawaii tests. My beloved GoPro would look great in Hawaii. This is the real test. Dark and cold. DJI and Insta should pay for you to go to Hawaii and recover from your cold!
haha now that would be interesting, DJI and Insta360 sponsoring a trip to Hawaii! I agree, both have come a long way, mind you in low light, I’d stil probably reach for the Ace Pro 2, it really helps with those jitters.
Well, the reason behind my recommendation is that the big screen on the Ace Pro 2 tilts up, which is great for motovloggers and bikers, as you can see what you're filming from above. It is also in my opinion the best for low light.
Great comparisons!!! The AP2 does hold details better; however, when people make videos using these devices that is the last thing they are watching for. Me personally I am watching for the quality of the content and not the video these days because all these camera are good. Cameras these days are becoming like the Apple vs Android debate. It’s starting to come down to which one you prefer.
It all really comes down to that, exactly, your preference. At the end of the day these cameras are tools, each one works slightly differently, has slightly different pros and cons. It's your choice.
This is going to be my first action camera, primary use will be, during travel, hill stations, beaches and some basic trek, please suggest which one will be good. Some basic night videos too
Many were criticising DJI for the cartoonish always on HDR processing. As soon as the Ace pro 2 dropped, the Action 5 is perfect and they’re singing its praises 😂
I'm curious to see if you can use purevideo in 8k and what the Ace Pro 2 can resolve under the same lowlight situations you shot in this video. If you can do it i'd love to see it.
Great side by side! Both look really good tbh, Ace Pro 2 has slightly less jitters especially in the background and a bit better 'exposure' but a bit high on the saturation, your face is sharper though on the AP2. But yah, both look really good!
It's very good that you test the equipment in real conditions. In the case of sports cameras, everything should be rated in the less bad category... Both lose a lot of detail due to pixel binning, which is probably also caused by UA-cam compression. In DJI you can see greater color depth, especially on glass surfaces, AP2 is certainly brighter and does not generate the unpleasant trumpet flare effect (better optics). The image from AP2 is better processed by more powerful artificial intelligence. I'm more interested in cameras working at 60fps and 120fps. Have you thought about such a test? What do log files look like?
Thanks! Well, in low light 60fps and 120fps is camera suicide, it's just dark. The trumpet flares on the DJI are quite distracting, but it might not bother some users, especially the average Joe who will probably buy this camera. The Ace Pro 2 does a good job with its A.I. processing, and it greatly helps to reduce jitters making things easier on the eye.
@@PhillipSkraba I guess that at 60 fps, especially 120fps will be much worse, I wonder how much worse. After all, these are sports cameras and in sports the mode you can't go below is 60fps. Maybe it would be worth taking a few shots in these modes.?
For cycling I really like the screen on the Ace Pro 2, as you can aim it up and see what you’re filming whilst riding. It also has a touch wider fov which can come in handy.
I did not expect this going in but I actually prefer the look on the DJI, on the Insta your face looks pretty "dirty" at times, not hygienically. Just the shadows at play . The look of the DJI is cleaner and less busy. For the environment I like the look of the Insta best no doubt.
Oh I meant to say, not meaning that hygenically, just in case you misunderstood 😅 Just the look of the camera shadows mixed in with some blurriness and pixels maybe. Thanks for making this video, appreciate it. I'll watch some more footage videos and then make final decision.
I love the flip screen! I didn't at first on the original, it had lower resolution, but I quickly came to love having a big screen whilst vlogging, and the Ace Pro 2 has a very high quality screen, you'd love it! The DJI is much darker in a lot of places here and has a lot of jitter, what do you prefer about it?
What I can see at 8:45 are trumpets, but the cloud is there, it's just a warmer tone, as all the lamps are warm, the AC5 adds a cool tone that just isn't there, you can see that in the pink light, on the Ace Pro 2 it is pink.
@@PhillipSkraba hopefully, if they can, both system could address this jittering issue in lowlight in the next firmware update(s). Well, I understand that these are such a tiny cameras to expect more to perform in complicated condition/scenarios especially in lowlight. Maybe, we can just stick to what both cameras give and maximize it!🤗
Both have jitters but ACE 2 seems to fare better. How about Action 5 Pro in normal video and high shutter speed (manual), maybe same on ACE 2 to see how it fares on similar settings. The reasoning for this would be to get rid any jitters. A bit shaky image is fine in my opinion when compared to constat jitters.
Yes, the Ace Pro 2 is good at getting rid of those jitters, but I'll test the manual settings again to see if they make a difference with new firmware.
Thanks a lot for the comparison and love how you "changed your voice". Question...which camera has some sort of horizon lock setting in low light? The ace pro 2 does not have this at all in purevideo mode (unfortunate not even 45 degrees). But does the dji action 5 offer horizon lock in low light setting?
I eagerly waited for this comparison. AP2 seems to be a bit brighter under extreme darkness. Both have jittering issue when you were running but the AP2 seems to have less of it. What sharpness and NR did you set to on both? Was it -2 or the lowest level?
it's not an issue. It's just physics. Filming is still depending on operator skills. And if you want clean shot, you need to care about camera movement.
The Ace Pro 2 does seem to do a better job, being brighter, seeing more and having less jitters, I agree. I have both set on medium, though sometimes I feel like dropping it down even more.
The problem is, these cameras are not aimed at people with cinematography skills, but at Bob down the road who wants a camera to shoot with his family on holiday.
@Usiakewycz I understand there are limitations on these action cameras which are expected when it comes to low light but it was merely a comparison of the two on which one is better than the other.
@PhllipSkraba Hopefully there will be more of these comparisons videos espencially when Insta releases further updates on the AP2 with more improvement.
@@PhillipSkraba Nice! That is the main reason I just ordered one. In situations where I'll be using an action cam, I want to be able to use the onboard audio and have it sound good rather than to fiddle with mics and worry about getting them wet, dirt or sand in them, dropping them at high speeds into mud, etc. For all other scenarios, I'll use my Pocket 3 and the DJI mics.
Both look great but there is still potential for improvement. The fine details of the ground picked by the Insta360 were not so evident on the DJI. On the other hand the Insta360 was a little bit too warm…
The Ace Pro 2 does let in a bit more light, but you trade off noise and a reddish orange colour cast to get that extra light. The DJI image is cleaner, has better colour and exposes better for bight light sources. The Ace Pro too has flares. Not to mention that your face is still out of focus on the Ace Pro 2!
Is everyone blind? The Ace Pro 2 has closer focus than the Action 5 Pro. There is no noise in the Ace Pro 2, it's removed by A.I. The warm colour of the Ace Pro 2 is accurate to the scene as all the lights are orange, not cool as the Action 5 Pro shows them.
@@PhillipSkraba Right, so we're all b lind! No, we're not. Your face is NOT in focus on the Ace Pro 2. And other reviews have highlighted that this issue has not been fixed. And there clearly is more noise and it clearly has a reddish-orange colour cast that goes beyond merely "warm".. "AI removes the noise" sounds like marketing speak!
Trust me, I have done countless tests, the Ace Pro 2 has 1cm closer focus than the Action 5 Pro, and I've been looking at original footage without UA-cam compression. The Ace Pro 2 is showing correct colours, how do I know this, because I was there. The Action 5 Pro goes into cool tones. Yes, the A.I. model has been trained to remove noise.
I'd say the Pro 2 has a bit more sharp detail in the stop frame. You can see this by looking at the road signs. Two processors do their job. But if you don't get too hung up on the minimal details, I'd say both cameras do their job perfectly. When choosing a camera, I would say whichever "religion" you belong to, that's the brand you should choose.
Yes, I notice the Ace Pro 2 has more details in low light whereas the Action 5 Pro mashes all the closest pixels together and smoothens them out. At the end of the day it’s a personal preference, totally true.
I'm really into low-light photography, but it seems like the Ace Pro 2 isn't the best choice for that. I tested it, and it tends to have weird jitters, making the footage look pretty uncomfortable.😪😪😪
I personally wouldn't use an action camera for low light photography, but if you do, much like with every other camera in low light when taking photos, a tripod would be beneficial.
it seems like they rushed the product out just to keep up with DJI, and their launch video was poorly presented. I didn't buy action 5 pro and I waited for Ace Pro 2 release but I was disappointed. but I still have to wait for their firmware updates. before I buy it. thanks for your video Philip. By the way I'm from the Philippines.
No, it wasn't rushed, I think they've been working on it for a long time. The launch video was great in my opinion. I'm definitely not disappointed and I've been thoroughly enjoying it for a while now. The firmware is good. I've heard the Philippines are wonderful, lucky you!
The ‘right there’ and ‘right here‘ looks the same to us. So maybe ‘to your left’ and ‘to your right’ would be better. I think DJI wins in this comparison. Can you throw GoPro into the mix? Looks like in daylight and under water, GoPro shows a more realistic image than DJI and Insta 360 AcePro2.
In daylight they are all pretty similar to be honest, sometimes a little more contrasty, sometimes a little cooler, a little warmer. In low light I'd have to disagree, in my opinion the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 wins the low light battle here.
@@PhillipSkraba Do you use Pocket 3? I like comparisons between that one too. It’s really cool. Thinking of getting one. But not sure. I have DJI Action 5 and I’m happy with it.
I have the Pocket 3, but I mainly use it for "cinematic" shots as I don't really enjoy vlogging with it, I am always worried about breaking that gimbal.
Ciekawi mnie czemu w ciemnych pomieszczeniach masz takie kwadratowe artefakty.
I think the Insta Ace Pro 2 makes more sense if the price difference is not significant between the 2 depending upon where you live. The raw footage from both are doing to be 19-20 with subtle difference in subjective preferences such as white balance and color saturation. Even in night mode the difference are minimal (Ace Pro 2 has an edge but it is not too significant). I think the deciding factors would be more or less Flip Up Screen, Cost & Availability of Spare Batteries & Accessories, Ease of Software/Interface and How Easy Editing/Storage is. To me, I think Insta Ace Pro 2 wins the competition due to the FlipUp Screen that brings lots of versatility. Unfortunately I still don't still it listed for sale in India and I'm patiently holding onto my GP Hero8 and Insta X3 for my Motorbike Logs. I hope I don't end up on DJI side as Insta is testing my patience :/.
The Ace Pro 2 is an excellent choice, and I'll be the first to admit that I hated the flip up screen at first, but it quickly grew on me on the Ace Pro 1. Now on the Ace Pro 2, the screen is much higher in quality and I really enjoy using it.
Ok, i can't see any advantages from sensor performance in Ace Pro. It looks like exactly the same. Insta360 just put all simple tweaks in processing, which can be added to dji as well. It could be good for someone, who doens;t touch any editing software and never use davinci etc. It's just pop contrast, edge sharpening and pumping shadows. Which looks unprofessional. To me, DJI is a better camera for any semi-professional filmmaker who edit a little bit more. Ace Pro is for people who just upload video to their phone and post directly to social media
Which is 99% of us, we film and upload. If you lift the shadows in post, the Ace Pro 2 retains shadows, whereas the Action 5 Pro is just a black hole, in extreme low light of course. Generally they both do a good low light job, but the Ace Pro 2 jitters a lot less. The flare trumpets though, that is what I would consider looking unprofessional.
@@PhillipSkraba Maybe 70% but yep, probably this is how it looks in this segment. But dji can offer both. In Ace Pro u can't step back. Log doesn't look too good and has 8-bit. And, I don't think action cams are cameras for vlogers in first choice. Also, as I'm watching, you're not using D-log too much. There is a place for flexibility. Jitters are depending only from shutter-speed in low light and settings. So, Auto can choose randomly other specs in backgroud. That is why theres differences.
You can choose manual on both of these, but when you do, you basically make them super dark. The Low light modes on these are great. As for D-Log M, yeah, I rarely use that, as like most people nowadays I just can't be bothered or have to time grade, unless I'm actually doing something ambitious, but then I'd be using a full frame.
@@PhillipSkraba well, it's very different perspective. Watch again every promo clip from GoPro/DJI/insta360. There's no shots like talking heads and walking the city 😅 (no offense). Today there is a lot of creative filmmakers with much bigger skills than years ago, everyone can use free davinci and watching tons of tutorials on tiktok. And action cam is very required for different perspectives. No reason to say it has to be a toy for nobrainers.
That's because there are orange lamps here, it's all warm lighting. The DJI goes into the opposite with cool tones. Both can be easily fixed in post in a second.
It's a pattern @@PhillipSkraba I saw on many more reviews that the orange lights and reds are excessively exaggerated on Ace Pro 2 (DcRainmaker) if the editing is on the table then I'll rather go with DJI(?), film in Dlog M, lift the shadows in post and have even greater results? The I-Log on Ace pro is artificial AF. Saw it on your video yesterday and was pretty shocked. Appreciate your work, lovely family you have there, cheers from fellow Londoner.
They both lean in different directions. Slight Orange cast in Ace, but Blue in A5 Pro. All cameras tend to do this. I’ve shot Sony, Fuji, Nikon, Canon pro kits. All have leanings that one must counter, without manual tweaks. Luckily easily fixed.
Son las dos excelentes cámaras, pero prefiero la DJI por la doble pantalla, no hay que estar abriéndola y cerrándola según el ángulo, solo grabas y ya.
Just look at 5:49 and tell me, with a straight face, that the DJI captures that mural behind the host better than the Ace pro 2. I mean look at the details and definition of the Insta360 vs the muddy DJI depiction of the same mural. People are so biased it's crazy! Correction: "Scary" would be the proper word!
What does that have to do with this comparison? The Ace Pro 2 battery is also good. Maybe you're used to holding something small, but the size suites me, as for durability, both are very solid.
Um. no, it is definitely not better in every sense. Go back to the video, (make sure yt setting is 4k) pause video in 4-5 different places and ZOOM and compare.
Ace Pro 2 wobbly clouds is comical. Once you see it you can't unsee it and unless they fix that I can't bring myself to get one. Never mind the face focus which is not fixed. DJI trumpets are annoying as is the mush at the edges as detail is lost and it's really flickery. Can't see it's worth upgrading my OA4 tbh, use Pocket 3 in low light. Disappointed in both after all the game changer hype.
That is what I've heard going around when it comes to the flares, people are calling them DJI Trumpet Flares, I have no idea how they got there or what they're even doing there, but they are distracting.
That's a few good beers, not too bad. I've had my fair share of cameras to know it can be worth spending extra sometimes, it all depends on what you're after.
Actually, ALL the lights in this video were orange, and warm, so the DJI made them look cooler than they actually were. The colour temperature sensor seemed to raise the kelvins, which you can visibly see in a lot of situations here.
Dude!! Supernight mode already proven to be GARBAGE! You wanna do a fair test? use normal video mode on Dji A5Pro video mode and adjust the settings manually, the image quality will be FAAARRRR better than Supernight.
I was about to purchase DJI 5 pro but after this I will go for the Insta360 Pro 2. The gradient in the light is awesome. But strange thing is even if the 360 use AI to denoise but it's still noisier compared to DJI
I think both do a good job, but in parts the DJI has trumpet flares, the Insta360 has A.I. stuff going on, but I kind of prefer the Ace Pro 2 as it jitters less.
@@evankwok4745 On 8:42 pay attention to the white building on the right side. Look at the top floors you can see the image quite stable and the noise is acceptable on DJI side. But it's terrible on Insta360, Huge bubble noise running around. If they claimed they had AI and that's the result then bleh. DJI have better result. The strange thing is the light's overbright gradient is really good on Insta360, I guess that's the power of Leica profile. Have more details rather than white out like DJI. You can look at all the bright lights on the tallest building in the center. On 10:50 Insta360 looks like film footage rather digital crunch all black area like DJI. But some shots it looks great but some looks not good as other. For example on 4:16, the DJI looks more natural than Insta360
Your comparisons hit different, seriously. I don't even bother with anyone else. I was all set on the DJI action 5, but after your verdict, Ace Pro 2 it is. Lowlight won on me.
The DJI seemed smoother in transitions, and in action had better color. Slightly more jitters, but Im happy with my purchase, the mic 2 quick connection is my favorite.
The Mic 2 connects to both of them. Yes, the DJI has way more jitters, as for the colour, I'm afraid it was off, as it made everything look cool and blue, when in fact it was warm and orange.
colors are NOT better with DJI (at least what it seem in night) (focus on colored LEDs that show up various occasions) what might be worth noting tho, is that ace adds bit of orange:ish hue and noise to super dark areas - if that is what you mean, i guess this is what you get with ISO 10.000+ DJI does not amplify the darks to the same degree ace does, (which in a way does look "natural", because that could be how the eye see) but on the contrary stay dark i gotta say this, dji looks a hint bit sharper in some scenarios, in some not
@@PhillipSkraba I have the insta x4 and the Bluetooth connection with it is not as good so idk if ace pro has a better Bluetooth connection. I was just watching the video on my phone, so colors may have been off.
That's probably from the lights, most of them are warm, you get that, right? The Action 5 Pro has very cool tones and it doesn't show the lights as warm, which is odd.
@rodricbr After using them both very heavily, it’s honestly very hard to beat the Ace Pro 2 in low light. The Action 5 Pro is the only action camera that comes close, but it’s still a way off.
I still think the Ace Pro2 looks better overall. Look at 2:15 and see how the DJI doesn't have detail in the pavers but the AP2 does. But the DJI does look really good in many situations, even better at times. Can't go wrong with either...
Yes, the DJI turns the road into a river, but sometimes the Insta360 moves the clouds, it's a hard nut to crack this low light stuff. They both do well at different points, but if I had to choose one for low light I'd take the Ace.
It does? I think it sees less and the colours render all cool, and it jitters quite a bit more. I think DJI still needs to work on their low light, mind you, so does Insta360, but they're still a step ahead.
@@PhillipSkraba To be honest both low light modes are terrible, because you can get way better results with your own settings, however looking at that shot of the tower (8:40) you can get that sort of result where the blacks are black and colour is accurate consistently on the action 5. AP2 should fix that sepia effect in their low light mode, that look was only cool in the 1930's lol
I've got to tell you that you're wrong. I'm there, I do these tests quite often. The Ace Pro 2 has the colours perfectly, the Action 5 Pro goes into cool tones which are just not there, the sky was warm, the lights are orange, you can even see what it does with the pink light, it cools it right down. I've had to set both of them on 5600k for them to keep up, but in auto the DJI does go cool.
@@PhillipSkraba I understand the scene as a whole may have been warmer, I guess it’s just personal preference, I like my night sky to look closer to black then chocolate brown.
@independentmind6345 Personal preference, of course. I prefer it when the colours are the same as I see them, which I feel the Ace Pro 2 got right. At the end of the day we can match both colours in 1 second with a slider in post anyway.
@@PhillipSkraba did you so slow motion test yet ? As you go down from 4K you can go more than 120fps ? Is it increasing as you go down the resolution ?
Colour accuracy looks better on DJI much in line with Pocket 3. Insta360 has not yet the colour science background that DJI (also thanks to hasselblad) can benefit from. The lack of 10bit colour proves it. I understand that for average action cam users this is not a priority but it should and at least for me it is…
i noticed around 3:06 when you said "pink light", the ace pro 2 was closer to the pink color while the dji action 5 was more bluish. can we say now that the ace pro 2 is more accurate in terms of its colors than the action 5?
Yeah, the DJI really didn't get many of the colours right. The lights in the video are all warm, orange lights, which people don't realise and the DJI cools them right down.
In case I take a footage in the low light condition using AcePro2 what will be the best camera setting to come up with the quality as (poor) as using GoPro shooting in the low light condition? Can I just reduce EV?, thank in advance
Interesting, but to be honest: Who really buys an action camera for low light situations? If I want to get good shots in low light, I'll get a full-frame camera. Action cameras aren't built for that, their sensor is too small. That's why I honestly don't understand all these low light comparisons of different action cameras. Who cares if one is a little brighter than the other? The picture is bad on both.
Exactly, no one I know, but people seem to love it when they do. I guess there are a few midnight runners out there who film when the rest of us are sleeping.
There is much less jitters on the AP2 Pro under the blur reduction mode, however, the footage seems a bit darker under this setting as compared to the anti-flickering mode which causes almost the same jitters as OA5 Pro but has brighter video quality. I’m not a camera expert but I noticed that if action cams try to increase the brightness, jitters usually happens. I’d still go with AP2 Pro, honestly. I came across your night video comparison between OA5 Pro vs Ace Pro, and I’ve been wanting to get the Ace Pro but patiently waited for AP2 Pro to come out. Now, I cannot decide 😂 Hoping you can make a video comparison between the Ace Pro and AP2 Pro so that we can see the difference between both cams since they have shown great performance. Thanks a lot!
What happens in the jitter reduction modes is that the camera raises the shutter speed, darkening the image, but making it easier for the camera to stabilise the footage. I will soon be dropping a comparison between the Ace Pro and Ace Pro 2, of course.
At my age, which is considerably more than yours, I'm not about to do any running videos. So, I'm not worried about stabilization while running. I think the Ace Pro 2 resolves more light, especially in extreme low light. It is also warmer than the DJI, which appears sharper. But I'm not about to give up my Pocket 5 because the DJI ecosystem, allows provides compatibility with my Pocket 3. Both have D-Log M which makes it easier to color grade similarly than with the Ace Pro 2''s log video.
Yes, the Ace Pro 2 does a superb job at night, and the one thing that hurts me on the Action 5 Pro is the oddly shaped trumpet lens flares which I didn't notice in the Action 4, so I have no idea where they came from. D-Log M is a good solid profile, I agree.
@@PhillipSkraba I agree. They're cute; but a distraction. I think that DJI may be able to resolve this issue by providing a new lens cover that corrects the lens flare.
@@PhillipSkraba On the subject of the trumpet flares, have you tried putting the lens cover from your Action 4 on your Action 5 to see if that eliminates the flares?
@@PhillipSkraba I think that if it's the same lens as on the Action 4, there should be no difference in the flares between cameras unless its the way the lens and processor now interface.

@@PhillipSkraba what's the most Convenient way to get ace pro 2 to look cool instead of warm?
@denzellee6580 manually set the white balance, or cool it down in edit.
4:20 why acepro2 sky is shaking?
In that particular part, I’d probably guess A.I. technology, though I will ask my Insta360 contacts about that.
I was questioning that. Why the clouds are shaking? That doesn’t look natural.
I saw the building flicker a bit, hard time seeing the clouds shake
thank you for this review. the simple fact that the dji is smaller lighter and battery lasts longer and is in stock is the reason why i bought it today. my trip is tommorow and ace pro is out of stock.
Which one you like most I think ace pro 2 is brighter but washout and 5 pro little darker but more details
It's a very hard choice, I feel I can see way more with the Ace Pro 2 and there are far less jitters in the lights, but the Action 5 Pro isn't bad.
8:45 you can see a little bit of cloud by ac5, but ace pro 2 completely removes the cloud.
@@phong6724In some cases they do equivalent, or Ace even has bit more visible clouds. Check this one 4:18
I’ll be dropping that soon too! Thanks
The difference is too low to consider Action 5 pro price with internal storage with dji mic connection wins.
The price is pretty similar if you get the Ace Pro 2 with one battery, I'd say they're pretty close, but if I had to take one out in the evening it would be the Ace Pro 2.
in uk price difference is significant between those two @@PhillipSkraba

Thank You so much, I'm glad you did!
Thank you so much for comparisson inside in the dark in Intro. I mean we all know that is the most popular way of using an action cam! 😆😆
I think this is how most of us use an action camera, at night, in a dark room, do no action at all 😂
@@RocaTT1456 Don't mention it. In the toilet it looks great
UA-cam is alive with bots, all over the place, crazy times. Toilet vlogs are very 2024.
About the batteries how many minutes it can last in video mode?
I’ll do a video on that soon, but it does a very good job.
Wish the gopro’s had better low light. Their picture quality looks so good, less digital.
I wish they did too!
Is there any word from insta360 about the fact one can't buy the ace pro 2, after its been launched for almos one month?
Totally sold out, should be with us within 2 weeks, fingers crossed.
Which one is better at micro jitters? Seems hard to tell with the new firmware
I think the Insta360 does a better job with the jitters, definitely less.
Which one should i use for night moto vlogging? For greater visibility and details at night?
I’d probably say the Ace Pro 2 for that.
@ thank you for your feedback. Would you like to share anything else regarding this?
Well, the reason behind my recommendation is that the big screen on the Ace Pro 2 tilts up, which is great for motovloggers and bikers, as you can see what you're filming from above. It is also in my opinion the best for low light.
Good video! Action 5 for me!
Both do a good job, but I just can’t stand those green trumpet flares on the DJI, I don’t understand how those got through the design stage.
Some basic night videos too
If it's an all rounder, that looks great straight out of camera, I'd go with the Ace Pro 2.
We need this video again with DJIs new firmware!
Oh the firmware that came out the other day, yeah, not sure if that'll make much difference.
When you are run overheating test?
I'm working on it.
Many were criticising DJI for the cartoonish always on HDR processing. As soon as the Ace pro 2 dropped, the Action 5 is perfect and they’re singing its praises 😂
Both are good, they just look slightly different, choose what suites your needs.
5:25 perfect like what? the silly coned shaped lens flare you see all the time no matter night or day time?
it's all about cleaning
@@swapnilnashte436what do you mean? Cleaning the lens?
Actually DJI has sorted the issue out with the latest firmware update.
Both videos are uneditet or color correction ?
Both are raw, yes. Well, the Ace Pro 2 processes raw IN camera.
@@PhillipSkraba Ace pro 2 has HLG rec 220 format in video like than Action 5 Pro???
No,
I'm curious to see if you can use purevideo in 8k and what the Ace Pro 2 can resolve under the same lowlight situations you shot in this video. If you can do it i'd love to see it.
Oh no, the 8K mode is really for well lit, dull scenes. It is not available in PureVideo.
Great side by side! Both look really good tbh, Ace Pro 2 has slightly less jitters especially in the background and a bit better 'exposure' but a bit high on the saturation, your face is sharper though on the AP2. But yah, both look really good!
Both do a good job, yes, but the Ace Pro 2 does have less jitters making things easier to watch.
If I get a chance, I'll surely drop a video on that.
@@PhillipSkraba Great. We will all definitely benefit from this
Which will be a better option for cycling vlogs, cinematic videos….
OM 5 pro or Insta 360 AP 2
For cycling I really like the screen on the Ace Pro 2, as you can aim it up and see what you’re filming whilst riding. It also has a touch wider fov which can come in handy.
@@PhillipSkraba thanks 😊
I did not expect this going in but I actually prefer the look on the DJI, on the Insta your face looks pretty "dirty" at times, not hygienically. Just the shadows at play . The look of the DJI is cleaner and less busy. For the environment I like the look of the Insta best no doubt.
You're saying I didn't wash, well, maybe. Yeah, both have their pros and cons, it's choosing one, or buying both.
Oh I meant to say, not meaning that hygenically, just in case you misunderstood 😅 Just the look of the camera shadows mixed in with some blurriness and pixels maybe. Thanks for making this video, appreciate it. I'll watch some more footage videos and then make final decision.
Nice comparison bro. In this video i like DJI footage and i dont like to do screen flip up down up down 😂
I love the flip screen! I didn't at first on the original, it had lower resolution, but I quickly came to love having a big screen whilst vlogging, and the Ace Pro 2 has a very high quality screen, you'd love it! The DJI is much darker in a lot of places here and has a lot of jitter, what do you prefer about it?
How are they with stills?
Better then cell phone?
They both do a good job with stills, I'd say comparable to a phone.
Thank you
8:45 you can see a little bit of cloud by ac5, but ace pro 2 completely removes the cloud.
What I can see at 8:45 are trumpets, but the cloud is there, it's just a warmer tone, as all the lamps are warm, the AC5 adds a cool tone that just isn't there, you can see that in the pink light, on the Ace Pro 2 it is pink.
@@PhillipSkraba Can you do another daytime comparison video of these two devices with the latest update?
@@phong6724 On the shot of the tower the entire corner of the tower is removed as well on the AP2. A lot of bad things going on with the ace pro 2.

There is nothing bad going on with the Ace Pro 2, you guys need to get glasses.

I love low light comparisons!
@@PhillipSkraba both still has jitters. Though the ace pro 2 handles it slightly better!🤟🏻
@@gaiusmarquez6344 Yes, I agree.
@@PhillipSkraba hopefully, if they can, both system could address this jittering issue in lowlight in the next firmware update(s). Well, I understand that these are such a tiny cameras to expect more to perform in complicated condition/scenarios especially in lowlight. Maybe, we can just stick to what both cameras give and maximize it!🤗
It would be hard to do this in a firmware, but I'm sure they're both doing what they can.
How's the focus distance? Is it the same as the AP1? I haven't seen a video comparing this.
I did in my last comparison video, the Ace Pro 2 is on par with the Action 5 Pro, and even 1cm closer in my tests.
@@PhillipSkraba cool! Lemme check your vid.
AP2 has MUCH closer focus distance than AP1
Yes, much, much closer than Ace Pro 1.
Low light modes are locked, BUT the Ace Pro 2 in normal video mode actually does very good in low light, so you could use that.
@@PhillipSkraba thank you. Is it possible that you show this low light performance with normal video selected? Versus pure video mode?
Sure, I can do a video on that.
Pure video with Blur Reduction is other freaking wordly. What were you using for audio?
It does quite an amazing job! All audio from the Ace Pro 2.
The audio on the Ace Pro 2 is very good, you'll be impressed.
I love the ace pro 2 i see more details the osmo 5 pro has more natural look u look fresh on the ace pro 2
I love the Ace Pro 2, too.
Ace Pro 2👌🏽🎯
In low light it’s quite the monster.
Both look great but there is still potential for improvement. The fine details of the ground picked by the Insta360 were not so evident on the DJI. On the other hand the Insta360 was a little bit too warm…
Yes, pros and cons on both of them, the warm tone is easy to fix, the lack of detail, not so much.
Acepro2 vs pocket 3 low light
I'm on that soon.
Nope, there Scrum cycles are on point.
September is the new tech month, Apple, DJI, GoPro and Insta360 drop their cameras now, and it'll stay that way no doubt.
I prefer the Ace Pro 2 footage.
It’s nice!
The motion array lip sync could use some work lol.
I did that manually, actually.
Action 5 has a movie look
You mean soft and blurry?
No tutaj wylacznie bylo zmniejszanie obrazek do 50%, kwadraty i pixele to raczej wina kompresji z UA-cam, bo u mnie na orginalnym to wyglada czysto.
Hi! Can you try to the same low light test without image stab? Early thanks man
hahaha, that would be very authentic, but you'd all throw up.
Thank you!!!!!
You're welcome!
I can see more on Ace Pro 2 but the colour casting is unbearable, orange hue is dominating all brighter areas no matter indoor or outdoor.
Yes, I really do hope Insta360 work on that log profile, take out all the processing, make it soft as balls. Thanks! I miss London sometimes.
That’s true, mind you, I’ve got so used to the big screen on the Ace Pro, I just love using that thing!
Yes, that is a good example. I agree, it captured it very clean.
A5P is better in every sense - right size, in built storage, good battery, 10 bit recording & more rugged.
Disappointed in both after all the game changer hype.
ace pro 2
It's a good one!
"DJI trumpet" lol, is that what they're calling this flare? i do prefer the ace pro 2 overall
That is what I've heard going around when it comes to the flares, people are calling them DJI Trumpet Flares, I have no idea how they got there or what they're even doing there, but they are distracting.

I just bought Insta 360 Pro and now they have released the newest version😢
They have, yes.
I say the Insta360 is better in terms of video. But it's hard to beat the Action 5 with that crazy battery life.
Actually the Ace Pro 2 has endurance mode with similar battery life.
dji has more accurate colors with that white balance sensor on the front, can't beat dji even in low light it has more realistic looking lighting
Actually, ALL the lights in this video were orange, and warm, so the DJI made them look cooler than they actually were. The colour temperature sensor seemed to raise the kelvins, which you can visibly see in a lot of situations here.
Wow ace 2 is very good
It is!
Dude!! Supernight mode already proven to be GARBAGE! You wanna do a fair test? use normal video mode on Dji A5Pro video mode and adjust the settings manually, the image quality will be FAAARRRR better than Supernight.
SuperNight is great, so is PureVideo, but it doesn't matter what settings I use, those damn trumpet flares still show up.
great!

I was about to purchase DJI 5 pro but after this I will go for the Insta360 Pro 2. The gradient in the light is awesome. But strange thing is even if the 360 use AI to denoise but it's still noisier compared to DJI
where do you see more noise?
I think both do a good job, but in parts the DJI has trumpet flares, the Insta360 has A.I. stuff going on, but I kind of prefer the Ace Pro 2 as it jitters less.
I don't actually know, I don't see the noise.
@@evankwok4745 On 8:42 pay attention to the white building on the right side. Look at the top floors you can see the image quite stable and the noise is acceptable on DJI side. Thank You, that really means a lot to me. I do my best to keep it real on my comparisons.
DJI and GoPro is crying 🤣🤣🤣
Possibly GoPro, yes.
The DJI seemed smoother in transitions, and in action had better color. Slightly more jitters, but Im happy with my purchase, the mic 2 quick connection is my favorite.
The Mic 2 connects to both of them. Yes, the DJI has way more jitters, as for the colour, I'm afraid it was off, as it made everything look cool and blue, when in fact it was warm and orange.
colors are NOT better with DJI (at least what it seem in night) (focus on colored LEDs that show up various occasions) what might be worth noting tho, is that ace adds bit of orange:ish hue and noise to super dark areas - if that is what you mean, i guess this is what you get with ISO 10.000+
DJI does not amplify the darks to the same degree ace does, (which in a way does look "natural", because that could be how the eye see) but on the contrary stay dark
i gotta say this, dji looks a hint bit sharper in some scenarios, in some not
@@PhillipSkraba I have the insta x4 and the Bluetooth connection with it is not as good so idk if ace pro has a better Bluetooth connection. I was just watching the video on my phone, so colors may have been off.
I don't even need to imagine! I ALWAYS film blogs in my toilet! Subscribe!
hahahaha! Yes!!!
Is it me or does insta 360 look orange 😅
That's probably from the lights, most of them are warm, you get that, right? The Action 5 Pro has very cool tones and it doesn't show the lights as warm, which is odd.
3:05 if what he says here is true, the pink lights, then the osmo action 5 pro is way off in terms of color.
dji's cam is 100% better. amazing quality
100% better, wow, it must be amazing!
@@PhillipSkraba well, in my opinion yes 😁
Dji looks nicer
Insta definitely the winner 🥇
I think so too in low light.
@@PhillipSkraba did you so slow motion test yet ? As you go down from 4K you can go more than 120fps ? Is it increasing as you go down the resolution ?
@@januszciechowskiphotograph7297 in low light 120fps would basically be a black hole we'd all fall into, the abyss.
@@PhillipSkraba hi sorry i did not ask for low light just the general slow motion capability
Ahh, ok, yes, in 120fps both do a superb job.
Flickering is still there on both cameras
Pocket 3 wins by all means
Drop it on the floor and we'll see who wins 😂
@@PhillipSkraba Try the same with action cams and lets see if lens or screen survives.
I've dropped both of these about 10 times now, both screens are perfect.
@@PhillipSkraba I have Ace Pro and Pocket 3. Never dropped any... Lolz
To be honest. They both look like crap!
I think they look good, if you can find another camera of this size that does this well at night, let me know.
action cameras image is poor
It depends what you're using it for, it's not a RED but it's not bad.
🤣
Erm, thanks.
In case I take a footage in the low light condition using AcePro2 what will be the best camera setting to come up with the quality as (poor) as using GoPro shooting in the low light condition?
Can I just reduce EV?, thank in advance
The GoPro is way behind in terms of low light, it's just not comparable.
@@PhillipSkraba Haha, I think you are right
There is much less jitters on the AP2 Pro under the blur reduction mode, however, the footage seems a bit darker under this setting as compared to the anti-flickering mode which causes almost the same jitters as OA5 Pro but has brighter video quality.
@@PhillipSkraba Thank you for this great explanation! Looking forward to seeing the comparison between the 2!
I even tried taking if off too, but the way the lens is designed, I think it's just prone to the flares.
@@PhillipSkraba I think that if it's the same lens as on the Action 4, there should be no difference in the flares between cameras unless its the way the lens and processor now interface.
Price, low light, int. memory, battery life, smaller size Oa5 for me.. the ace 2 flip screen has a limited life span because its a ribbon cable connection
I’ve been using the Ace Pro 1 for a year, and the Ace Pro 2 has a much, much better ribbon, so nah, that’s rubbish.
