Jessie J has a heart disease and was seeing her doctor in London just hours before this performance, who advised her not to perform, but the song has such a big meaning to her that she wanted to perform no matter what. She later explained that during the performance she felt close to fainting again and again, but she wanted to finish to get the message to the demon in her chest. So for what she went through while singing, this performance is insane.
I've never heard that before of course it's not something to come up in causal conversation with the friends I'll have to give her something special this yearthank you

Jessie J is incredible. Please take a look also at one of her competitors in the show (Singer 2018). The singer's name is KZ Tandingan. She sang "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele and "Say Something" by A Great Big World.
When you say it's almost like a Disney performance... She actually performed Reflection from Mulan at the Singer as well. You should check it out 😉

Every performance she did on this series, except possibly her version of "I Will Always Love You" was world class crazy amazing (and even there she'd totally killed Whitney's "I Have Nothing" earlier in the competition). But this was the pinnacle. Extremely ill, as others have said, this miracle came out of her because she was so totally connected to it.
Really close to this were I Have Nothing and Purple Rain, so you need to take a look at those too. Reflection is not far behind those.

In her performance of Purple Rain, there is this one image of a young Chinese man crying almost uncontrollably. And that just triggers my floodgates.

Her vocals are phenomenal & her presence/performance is outstanding.
The resonance and breath control just allow her voice to bloom without pushing for volume.
Her agility throughout her range just adds and highlights her control and she uses far more to emote than to impress compared to earlier in her career.
Her placement sounded slightly pushed at 09.16. Her mix was slightly too chest heavy which could've been a choice but I prefer when she lift her sound for the resonance as opposed to that coarser sound.

Nina, please consider reacting to Rina Sawayama’s debut album, SAWAYAMA. It’s reaaaaally good and it got some great reviews (debuted with a 99 on metacritic, now it’s around 90)
If the current Singer season is over, and they aren't leveling copyright strikes anymore (sometimes they don't come right away), there are many good performances on that show worth checking out. The person they showed in this video before Jessie J (dressed in green) was KZ Tandingan, who had beat Jessie J in Episode 5 with her unique take on "Rolling In The Deep". (The well lit camera shots are of the competitors watching from backstage.) Also from 2018 are Hua Chenyu (start with "Nunchucks"), and Tengri ("Heaven"). Also, if it's safe as far as copyrights go, that would mean you could look at Dimash's performances from a year earlier. When Dimash covered "Hello" as a guest performer on Singer 2018, Jessie J was waiting in the wings to go on next, and there is a video of her watching him and going "Wow". I'd give you links, but like the one I gave on the "Rainbow" video, it would probably go to spam.
PLEASE Nina, I asked you a LONG time ago to react to Dimash sing All By Myself and My Heart Will Go On. I heard you clearly say that anytime somebody sings a Celine Dion song that you want to hear it. That is why when you said it when you reacted to Marcelito sing The Prayer I told you about those 2 songs sung by Dimash. I have been waiting since then. He sings All By Myself on Episode 9 of Singer plus other times including at his New York concert and My Heart at the Hainan International Film Festival 2018

I can’t believe how big this show was... people describing it as the “Chinese X factor” is so degrading.... I’m sorry X factor is gimmicky and staged.. the final of the singer was watched by over a billion people LIVE. that is insane and a reason i think jessie seemed so nervous when she sang “ i will always love you”
