Hi Sam, my comment is not for this video alone but for your whole outlook on life. What an awesome positive man. I am not visually impaired but my Dad went totally blind in his later years before he died. Having recently retired from a lifelong career in IT, I decided to take up voluntary support work to help blind people with assistive technology and I have so much to learn. I find you so positive and inspirational and am now watching all your video's. You are helping so may people, what a role model you are !
I agree. I personally just prefer a regular bluetooth keyboard with a full keyboard, but that's a pain to bring everywhere. I hate typing on my screen, I'm so slow at it.
omg, Sam, thank you so much for this video. I usually never leave comments, one reason beeing that English is not my native language (instead I leave thumbs up!). But I'm so hopeful about this product: I teach computers, smartphone use and braille to the blind and deaf-blind here in Montreal and I'm visually impaired myself. I believe that this product will give the opportunity to those who struggle (and even sometimes have to give up) using an iPhone because of the gesture. I mostly work with older people. Can't wait to try it! And thanks for all your videos, I love it.
I think it's a good device, but the price is way too much. I'd rather just buy a decent bluetooth keyboard for 100 dollars. I have been using the same keyboard for all of my phones since 2014, the thing still works to this day. Best 100 bucks I ever spent.
How will it help with faster typing. I am a very slow typist using touch on my iPhone. Could it be as practical and useful as a full Bluetooth keyboard?
Interesting, I’m sure someone will have a use of it. On the side would it be possible for you to put out a video to demo new galaxy watch with talkback
Thanks for sharing Sam. It seems like a really neat device. I can think of several instances where it would be helpful. I saw several people complaining about the price and I agree it is a bit pricy but I would encourage people to go watch the video you have on why assistive technology is so expensive. The price of a product is greatly affected by the size of the market for that particular product. With low vision tech. having a limited number of consumers, the cost of all that research and development is only being spread over a select few vs. say a new smart phone where that cost is spread over millionns of consumers.
Hey Sam, I've been watching your videos for a while now and have been enjoying them. I am also legally blind and would like to get more involved and help out in the blind/visually impaired community. And advice on how to do this, or how to start a youtube or tiktok account?
I have attached mine to one of the sports armbands that you can attach phones to an where on your forearm and this allows me to have a keyboard on my left arm that I can work with my right hand when I’m out walking and I use it to control my audiobooks and such like I’m pleased with how well it works.
@@butterscotchjellybeans mine cost £225 I’m in the UK I got VAT relief since I am registered blind I got it from a company called computer room services
Hello Sam. I have a question about Rivo: Is navigating with Rivo faster than navigating with VoiceOver gestures also for long times and for long tasks? I spend most of the day on my smartphone, and I would like to buy Rivo if it is faster for navigation also for long tasks. Thanks in advance for the reply.
Hi Sam. I have a question that a friend of mine brought up about this awesome piece of technology. Does your phone have to be on at all times for this to work?
Yes, it needs to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth, within a certain distance of your phone, and the phone needs to be turned on. It’s basically just a remote control for the phone, so like remote controls for anything, if the device is turned off, the remote control doesn’t do anything.
Hi Sam. I forgot to ask another question in my last post. My friend got the impression from the video that this piece of technology is only used for making and receiving calls. I told him I don’t think so I think you can do more. But I wanted to ask you, can you do more than make and receive phone calls with the radio? Thanks Sam
It’s used to control the phone. So, you can have the sound come through the river and navigate around on your phone without even needing to pull the phone out of a pocket.
I am looking for a keyboard That can act as the keyboard on the mobile phone to type stuff, That can act as the keyboard on the mobile phone. Using speech to text really sucks and I'm always constantly having to rewrite All the wrong words It types in as I speak. I miss the physical keyboards they had like on the blackberries And I can't seem to find any other than a full size keyboard you connectto like the tablets
THREE HUNDRED TWENTY NINE DOLLARS!!!???!?!? Not sure who, but someone needs to be very ashamed of themselves. There's no justification for that. At all. There are enough low-vision people on Earth that the market is large enough without resorting to such blatant price-gouging. I'm actively insulted. I guess my low-vision gran will NOT be getting this product for Christmas...
Hahaha! You tell'm buddy! The only TRUE justification for the price is that there isn't any comparable competition on the market yet. In a couple years another company will make one for cheaper or a new technology will make it obsolete. The choice between cost and performance will always be a driving factor for selling and manufacturing products. I relate to your struggle!
Blind people are expected to pay insane prices for accessibility. I guess these companies just assume we are all just rolling in money. Just look at the price of JAWS.
Not sure I fully understand the benefits. I am always trying to carry less tech and consolidate into one device (Android smartphone). One device eliminates bulk, less likely to lose it. I am paranoid about losing things that are important or expensive. I wear a smarwatch (with SIM) for emergencies and if phone is lost. I have a friend who was mugged, they tossed his phone in the lake, but his smartchwatch allowed him to call police.

Sounds like a good thing for people that have trouble using the keyboard on an iPhone.

It looks like it would be really good for people that have trouble using the small keys on an iPhone.
How will it help with faster typing. I am a very slow typist using touch on my iPhone. Could it be as practical and useful as a full Bluetooth keyboard?

Yes, very good points

This is so awesome! Thank you for sharing this video and showing us another awesome piece of technology to help us!

Great video looks like a great gadget.
Just wondering if wireless earphones can be used with this device? Also, any Canadian distrivuters? Thanks☺️

Hello! How much is this great gadget? The website has no mention of price anywhere.

Thanks for mentioning the sports armband. This is a great idea for a student with multiple challenges.

One thing, actually the only thing haha, I miss about the old flip phones is I could type a text message without even looking at the keypad

Sam Sam Sam how do you charge this device and it will will it work with a smart TV 6:44
It like a remote for your phone
Sounds great for me but just too expensive as I am on a disabled pension .. 😞
"Rivo3 will be launched in July 2023 priced at 799 USD." Are you looking to review it?
I had a chance to quickly check it out at CSUN earlier this year . They would like a review, i'd be happy to.
I thought this would be a nice companion to have in particular situations.. The price is ridiculously high for what it is so not for me.

Neat idea but that price… Just make a smart phone without a screen at that point.
