Stonehenge vandalism update: yesterday, we removed the powder from the stones and thankfully, there appears to be no visible damage. We moved quickly as the powder could harm the rare lichens and if the powder combined with water, it could leave difficult to remove streaks.
We were deeply saddened to see Stonehenge targeted and vandalised this way. The ancient stones are a testament to the desire of people - from prehistoric times to today - to connect with nature, the earth, the sun and the moon, as well as with each other. We really appreciate all the supportive messages, thank you. As a charity, English Heritage relies on our members, visitors & donors and we would much rather be spending our limited funds - and time - on caring for our 400 sites and sharing their stories with everyone.
Thank you for caring for them. Ive only read and seen photos of the stones. I live in Aotearoa New Zealand. Even though I'm far away Stonehenge has moved me to learn about them. Study how they were built. I've read Sarum. Now I trace the suns movement in my sky down here. It's really helped me in life. Planting gardens, distinguishing the seasons, keeping tabs on how much light left for the day so I can judge how long I can work. So the ancients have touched me too all the way down/up here. Good life to yous 😊
Do not understand trying to destroy something so beautiful provided from, earth herself, Has nothing to do with big oil or climate change. If you're going to protest do it where big oil is. Stop destroying beauty. Especially when earth herself provides it to you.

I had set an alarm so as to be able to watch it live, only to find out that this is NOT a livestream (as was indicated on the initial splash screen) but a RECORDING of the livestream, which I could just as easily watched anytime. I don't get the whole lunar connection thing, but I will say that a total eclipse is a Truly awe-inspiring and indescribable sight like no other. Like the Grand Canyon, pictures can never do it justice -- unlike the Grand Canyon, it is of limited accessibility. It is WELL worth going out of your way to experience, if ever you have the opportunity!
This is lovely to see! I agree with others, it would have felt more natural to hear the crowd, drums, singing, etc. rather than studio music (I ended up muting it). Still, thank you for being a window for the rest of the world to participate in this as we are able.
It is inconceivable to me that any person or group would want to vandalize an historic landmark such as Stonehenge. Blessed be to all for the Solstice.
I can only imagine what a fully built stonhenge would have looked like at this time of year. I mean this is special, but ti the buliders, it must have been a highlight of their lives.
Hello all cosmic eternal peoples, the recent midsummers eve/day Stonehenge free festival gathering 2024, was a cosmicly amazing successful event , I was there and pleased to see all the free natural eternal peoples of the infinite wild natural eternal cosmos enjoying themselves, there WILL DEFINATELY soon be the return of the Stonehenge free festivals FOR ETERNITY , REGULARLY, and ALL other free festivals also FOR ETERNITY , the IMPORTANT thing is, the more the natural wilderness returns back to the northern side/edge of Stonehenge (where the small "barrow hills" and traditional pyramid stage/ main festival site area is), i.e. the tarmac, roads, fences, artificial things e.t.c. being taken up, and the natural mud, turf and other plants growing back,, the sooner the better, and the Stonehenge free festivals Will DEFINATELY return even MORE sooner it is PRIMARILY NECESSARY for the northern plains tundra/fields ( i.e. where the main free festival, pyramid stage , small" barrow hills" usually is) to become completely natural wilderness again , there will still be a route to the south of Stonehenge for traffic travelling east to west/ west to east, and yet that route will eventually have the tarmac removed e.t.c. also , and then just become a flat dry smooth natural mud route that vehicles can STILL use 100% safely o.k. at the same speeds as before, (that southern only (east to west/west to east) road re-naturalisation (eventually back to a vehicle safe flat dry mud road) is in the more distant future, but to the sides and northern edges all around Stonehenge ,re-naturalisation back to completely natural tundra is VERY DEFINATELY IMMINENT and IMPORTANTLY it is better NOT to actually scorch/burn the actual turf/grass soils e.t,c. in any way , we are elf minimalist-tech eco-friendly(primarily) peoples, Stonehenge is here for ETERNITY , and so are we ALL, and so is all our eco friendly cosmic eternal music equipment e.t.c. any planes, helicopters, U.F.O. , other craft e.t.c. e.t.c. in the sky and space is ONLY Soviet Union Russian, so rest assured EVERYTHING is o.k. and 100% ECOFRIENDLY, see you soon and a DEFINIATE eco friendly free festival ETERNITY ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED
Ban phones, everyone just wants something to post on socials. It's a spiritual place, even just to be there to see the beauty of it. Overcrowded m, phones everywhere 🙄 just be there in the actual moment enjoying it, rather than watching it through your phone screen when it's right in front of you. People at the back can't see because of all the arms in the sky holding up phones. Let's not let Stonehenge become a place for influencers to pose in front of 🤯
