Solid A-. The biggest move was hiring Coach Mike and his staff, with bonus points for Frazier and creativity points for Grubb/Huff. The draft was solid with the emphasis on DL and OL. Free agency hit the big needs of re-signing Leo and Fant, as well as some bargain IOL and G Fant. Ridding ourselves of inneficient, high-cost players was necessary. The trade for Howell was a good value. Yes there are still question marks at OL and LB, but we now have flexibilty and a much-needed modernization of the defense. I'm not expecting a one-year turnaround to a legit contender, but we're on the right path.

I’d go B to B+ because most moves seems great; ‘but….’ First is the new coaching staff is unproven. Maybe great, but not proven. Also, we signed to really good (?) LBs but both are injured and not participating yet. So are they good signings? Don’t know. We’ll find out!

I'm an A+ believer. I love the draft, the cuts, and Coach Macdonald. I can't think of anything I don't like!
To clarify, I don't think our team is perfect or super bowl contenders. I mean in terms of the process and grading all of the decisions we made to put ourselves in the best position to win that we could. One great offseason does not a great team make.

Well considering some of the contracts (a lot of money to some guys) and the fact that all of our coaches are unproven, I don't think A+ is fair.

I think the guys we paid and the coaches we hired, among other offseason moves, were the "best" we could have made. "Best" being purely speculative. Imo having a great offseason should mean something different from having a great team.

Only thing I don't like is losing bobby wagner I think it was important to keep him on the team. Not to sure or excited about either of the new linebacker atm. B+

Leonard Williams with Mac was obvious as hell. Williams can do 5tech, 3 tech, 1 tech and nose... and has been successful (for the most part) in all areas. Murphy can do 3tech/1tech/NT.. Reed can do 3 tech/1tech/NT... it's pretty obvious that Mac wants all these guys rotating all over the place which will give fits for the OL... put Reed/Murphy together, which one is 1/0 tech (or is there a 0 tech?) and who is 2-3 tech? Then you run stints and the guy lining up as the 1 tech is actually the 3 tech to force one on one... or the 5 techs rotate and the OT has to cover a guy moving outside.
That's EXTREMELY hard to coach for a DL... not many players can do it... Donald wrecked offensive lines single handedly because he was so quick to move across different techniques and it screwed up the lineman's pre-snap double teams... Seattle namely often had OL standing around blocking nobody because Donald could show so many diff. looks. However, Mac already has 3 guys that have experience doing it..
I'd say the worst offseason move was probably just generally not addressing guard outside Haynes who Seattle was LUCKY fell to them. Seattle is right up against the salary cap because they took a lot of dead cap from two way overpaid/overrated safeties.

coach A: on the strength of great potential and the presence of Leslie Frazier.
Draft A-: first couple of picks were a best case scenario. I would have preferred they draft LB Nate Watson with the first 6th rounder
Free agency B+: I like resigning Leonard Williams and Jenkins is a great pickup. Chenault likely to take Eskridge’s job.
Trades A: keeping Geno and DK keeps us competitive and picking up Howell just for moving back a couple times in the mid rounds was a shrewd move.
