I’m one who has pestered you to do this. It’s absolutely one of Home Free’s masterpieces. This is Chance’s baby. His delivery of this is gorgeous, the harmonies are gorgeous, the video is perfect. Chance and Rob are my favorites ((of course I love them all). Now, wait until you catch their newest release “Vincent”with Don McLean. It is breathtaking- moved me to tears. It’s a song from my high school days, and with HF it’s been elevated to another level.
@@momD612 Thank you- I’ll have to edit my comment. I’m so used to thinking of it that way that sometimes it’s automatic, even though I know the actual title.
I love that Chance had the full lead on this one! His voice was perfect for this type of song. Thank you for requesting DJ to react to this. It’s kind of a sleeper request that sometimes doesn’t get enough credit/recognition it so deserves! DJ, thank you for reacting to this! The vocals were brilliant, as was the video perfect for the song. It was Chance’s first full lead. He had partial lead on “Die A Happy Man”, but this one is absolutely gorgeous and let us see and feel his emotions. It’s one of my favorites with Chance’s leads, and all time Home Free favorite in ballads!
@@bethcoussou I sometimes feel that I’m cheerleading for reactors to do Chance leads- I find that fans just don’t seem to recognize him as they do the others. I don’t understand it- Chance has a beautiful voice, and he’s a very emotive singer, with a storyteller quality that is wonderful. Maybe all of us Chance fans need to keep piling on to get him the attention he deserves. This particular song is what endeared him to me.
I feel like this production deserves an award. The arrangement, the harmonies are gorgeous, and the videography with the contrast of black and white with color at just the right moments to create this beautiful and sad story. “And the Oscar goes to . . . “
Those small moments are the world when the one you love passes away and you can never have those little moments ever again. This one makes me cry every time it reminds me of my husband who passed away 2 years ago.
Adding to your comment about colour/black and white, the fact that those items (scarf, sunflower. Etc) that had colour turn black and white as he packs them up 😢 *Edit spoke too soon hahaha I hope you get the chance (pun intended?! 🤔😂) to check out Chance’s cover of “Mrs Potters Lullaby” it is a masterpiece!! I also realised that he cover one of my favourite HIGHLY underrated Disney songs “Ooh da lally” from Robin Hood. He killed it I only wished it was twice as long!
So glad you liked this so much. Their harmonies take on a new whole level of amazing when Adam Rupp is not beatboxing but singing. DJ you could teach a master class on watching a video and song and seeing every thing that makes it special! ❤
This is one of Home Free's sadder songs. Chance's voice is really suited to doing this type of song. I like the video too, where most of it is in black & white with only a few of the personal items that remind him of her are in color.
Home Free is my current favorite group and they prove why with songs like this. Trace Adkins is one of my favorite country artists. I highly recommend checking out his catalog if you can. He has a little bit of everything, things to make you laugh like Honky Tonk Badonkadonk, and Swing, but also stuff that will make you cry your eyes out like Arlington and You're Gonna Miss This.
One of the best song for me. Chance killed this one, but the background was magical. They sound so good. Loved your reaction, glad you picked up on everything.
I've always loved this song; Chance's lead is on point, and the backing vocals are stunning. But finding out that Chance directed this as well, adds another level of poignancy to the piece. That young man has so much talent, it should be criminal!! Loved their new one with Don McLean, and I can't wait to see what direction the boys will take after Austin goes his way. Thanks for a really great reaction!!
Chance sings ballads better than anyone else I've heard- Trace Adkins wrote this after his first divorce. Remember Honky Tonk on Butts Remix? Trace Adkins song
One of my favorites DJ! Trace (one syllable) wrote this about his divorce and yes very painful but such a beautiful song! Those harmonies are exquisite and the video is awesome. Yes, all the memories are in color. Love it!!! So glad you did this one. I saw them last night in Denver. They were awesome….was hoping they’d do this one but they didn’t. Still a great concert. Adam was incredible last night and Tim’s low notes went through me. OH Chance directed this one….he’s great!😄🥰
It's a Trace Adkins song??? GODDAMN how did I not know??? LMAO...this song is such a pretty song and now I've heard it, I remember the Trace version (pronounced Trace but his real name is Tracey so...). This video was phenomenal and Home Free were incredible in this one. They've done one other Trace Adkins song, as part of their Butts Medley (Honkytonk Badonkadonk) that I can think of...but I can now think of 100 Trace Adkins songs I wanna find out if they have covered...LOL... Thank you for this reaction DJ. This was great! Not that it matters but HARD agree on the video...this was STUNNING! #HerdLove
If Chance was to (God forbid) leave Home Free to chase his dream, it would be to write and/or direct. And it shows. If you had no sound, the video images would tell the story perfectly. The harmonizing in this is completely unmatched.
Love it when Chance takes the lead ... such a smooth , sexy voice that needs to be heard more ! Love all these guys but there's something about Chance LOL !
Chance's voice was perfect for this song. I liked how the guys were grouped around Chance as if they were there to support him in his sorrow, like the friends/ brothers that they are.
Glad to see you finally got around to checking this out. My fave; tears every time. The poignant moment you mentioned in the song, with Rob and Austin, is that 'church organ effect' they get with their 5-part harmonies. Adam joins in on that, as well, with Tim and Chance provided the grounding notes. I've replayed that segment too many times to mention. Such a creative effort by Chance where every facet of the production resulted in this remarkable video.
Something about this song makes it so in addition to being about a breakup it could also be about someone who has passed away. That feeling hit me like halfway in, and I was surprised. I know that may not have been the intent when it was written but I think it can also speak to how you might feel when someone's passed away, and things you should have done, etc. Very well done. I don't know how I've been a Home Free fan for so long and overlooked this one. The harmonies, and the sustain notes, and the emotion, all just incredible. Also the background when Austin and Rob were singing that part at the end that you commented in really made what they were doing land so much harder. It takes a special skill to be able to sing in a storytelling fashion like that and Chance's voice is perfect for it. I am the biggest fan when it's all of them singing and Adam Rupp takes a beatboxing break. I am the biggest fan of his beatboxing, but when it's just them without it, it's something else.
I'm so glad you finally got around to this gem. Loved the reaction. This song moves me every time! It actually reminds me of the many barbershop shows my father dragged us kids to for 30 years. Chance outdid himself on this one!
I was waiting to see your reaction to this song and video. This one is truly a work of art all around and I knew it would have you squirming in your chair. LOL!
As always, the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific. I love that apart from the scenes with the woman or her things, it's in B&W. It drives home the concept that without her, his world is literally colourless. When you said about them singing anywhere, I thought you'd like this video: ua-cam.com/video/HEIOzg8xnq0/v-deo.htmlsi=LSzETStAw7rdB_9Q.
I hope you do watch Trace's video just to see him and what his interpretation was. I like HF's best but you need to see the Big man Trace is Louisiana born and bred OH check out Trace Adkins Arlington for Memorial Day (end of May in the States)
It is Trace not Tracy. You should check him out. He has some beautiful songs and some funny ones. I love this remake by HomeFree. I adore Chance. His voice is so warm. ❤
As always, wonderful reaction :-) also loving your Firefly shirt! I know you reacted to Firefly on your Patreon, but is there any plan to also release them on youtube?? I love your reactions and I love Firefly so I'm sure that combination would be incredible!
I would love to eventually put out some edited versions but with the amount of editing that would need to go into it, I can't manage it currently, possibly if I get to the stage of UA-cam full time I could manage it or if I employed an editor but not currently unfortunately
Trace (and it's pronounced like you're tracing something) isn't quite as deep bass as Tim but really close so Chance or Tim are the perfect ones for anything by Trace.

Chance uses a lot of black and white in his projects. He is a fantastic story teller.
I love how before the memories are shown, the objects have color. But after the memories are shown, the color is gone. Beautiful.
This one brings tears every time.
The small moments become huge when it is too late.
Chance has such beautiful voice. Great backup by the rest of the guys. ❤️🐇

Home Free perfection…..💔 Oh how I love these boys! ❤
Oooooh, right. THIS is the one that makes me cry every time I hear it.
This is one of my favorites of all they sing. As you said, Chance’s voice is perfect for this song! Thank you DJ for your enthusiastic reaction.
Did You notice that there was no beatboxing and Adam was singing? Very touching video. Chance did a wonderful with the black and white and then color.
Thank you D J for playing this song. Adam Chance did a great job on this song. I can't outrun you I like this song. Home Free is my favorite group.
My absolute favorite by Home Free. This whole project was Chance, start to finish.

This is an underrated gem. I honestly think it's one of Home Free's most impressive vocal performances ever. Chance knocked it out of the park.
Beautifully written song, that is beautifully sung, and fantastic cinematography & story telling. Good job Chance.
Excellent commentary. Love the shiny T-Shirt. 😉
I think Adam Chance was a 16th century harbor city troubadour in a previous life. His ability to tell a story through song is top level.
