Step by step guide on replacing a damaged laptop screen on a Toshiba Satellite Pro C650 or C655 laptop computer.
Thank you for this excellent video. I was able to get the screen successfully replaced following these instructions.
Checking that the screen works with the correct part-number is essential as connector can be on either side (left or right) mine was correct.
The plastic frame snapped off relatively easy (used a piece of slim cardboard to help me find the plastic pegs) . The frame's hinges did not fully detach so I left the frame still partially attached with a friend holding it carefully so it didn't flip too far and break.
The display connector seems really delicate so I took plenty of care detaching the old display and also extra care in connecting the new display.
Thanks so much for your guidance - Kids arguing over the laptop first day of the school holidays - snap. Now if I can find a replacement cheap it won't be sooo bad.
Much appreciated
my my the way you filmed was quite innovative and crafty. hats off to you sir!
@ScreenSurgeons i bought the monitor to suit mine and yes you're right, it's very straight forward, except the inner bottom screw spot was very tight sqeeze.
Liked, thanks for the guide, would have taken just as long to find the disassembly schematic. Keep up the good work. Also: batteries don't hold static electricity, your body does Robert, that's why you should use a grounding wrist strap or work barefoot.
Thank you very much Eugene. I followed your instructions, and had a screen installed within 10 minutes - a piece of cake!! Screen cost $65 +12 shipping off ebay, so a total of $75 (compared to computer store's quote of 175 + tax). Love it.
One quick question though if you can help me please? Along the way, I had a small magnetized piece of silver steel fall out - about 1/2" x 3/16" x 1/16". I suspect it might have to do with a switch that operates when the screen is closed. Can you help?
Way better than the instructions from the parts place. Simple steps dot it done.
Thanks matey, fixed mine today. It also had a little webcam, but that was easy enough to sort out.
Alicia: the wifi antenna is usually located along side the screen, you may have overlapped it or inadvertently unplugged it.
I like your recording setup. Nice head gear!
Good video, gonna have to undertake this procedure in the next few days!
Saving me a 60+$ repair job thanks
You mention in the video about getting statically charged so do it barefoot but how is this possible if I take my battery out first? And why an electrical screwdriver? I think none of what ur saying matters except the way the led is replaced. This video helped thanks :)
Instructions were perfect, love the new screen, greatly appreciated! thanks :)
@ThePlanetsCollide he is using both hands and it makes perfect sense he's using the forehead camera.
Thank you for this simple video...makes my job so much easier.
Great video! It saved me $200 bucks
yes it is!
@wiccapagan I haven't yet seen the 660, but it should be similar
@1996link0308 yes, they're the same
Thank you! I already did this and yes, everything is working fine! Thanks for the video!
Great video! Clear, concise and easy to understand. Thanks!
scipio6130 You are welcome, do feel free to let us know wherever you need our assistance.
The tools mentioned in the video, are those the tools that come with the screen?
Thanks a million times mate!!!!!!!!!! Ur a life saver!!!!
thank you for the video. i have to replace the screen in my wifes c655. my wifes computer is c655-some numbers and the screen is c655-different numbers will those extra numbers matter. i hope not.

I used this video as a guide to replace my cracked Toshiba Satellite C655 screen (I placed the the power cord on the keyboard and later shut it without thinking (ugh). Everything looks beautiful, my only issue is every so often I have internet connectivity issues. I'm not sure if I ruined the wireless adapter or something while replacing the screen or if it's the router itself? Has anyone else had this issue after replacing the screen??
great video, just the information I was looking for.
Thank you very much, ScreenSurgeons!
@ScreenSurgeons Thanks...and when taking them out should i like try as hard as i can or just gently?
I need to buy a replacement screen. I want to make sure I buy the correct size and screen resolution, backlight and type. Where would I be able to find this information for the original screen so I make sure I buy the correct replacement screen?
I connect the new screen and it's black. I'm thinking that the sensor that detects that the lid is closed is messed up. An external monitor works, though. Could this be a possible issue, or do I just have a bad screen?
This general procedure would apply to all C655 series laptops? (C655D-S5509 specifically)
I followed these instructions to a T and all was good until I turned on the computer. Seems the screen turns on but is all white. I am assuming I did something wrong, but thought I would ask before I take it apart again. Toshiba C655-S5128
Hey can you please answer...what else can i use to remove the screw covers? and where would i get this knife to remove them...?
Sorry about that. It's not the same serial number but the exact same model. So should I or should I not order it?
Hi! This might be off topic but my laptop (same model as video) The left hand corner above the speaker lifts up everytime I open or close the laptop. Please help!
I have a satellite c655-s5129 with a broken screen, and a satellite c655d-s5138. They're pretty identical, but I wasn't sure. Could I switch the screens between these?
Hi I have a question about the lcd screen? A friend of my family who offerened to fix it for me told me some laptop screens you can't just replace the screen you sometimes need to replace a sort of chip with the screen? and with out the chip the screen won't work. I was wondering if the Toshiba C650 is anything like that? or if i can just replace the screen and i'll be good to go?
my problem is that i dont have those black sticky-cover things on the corners of the screen cover... so i cant get to the screws? I dont know what to do!
@TheOrikion because it says Toshiba doesn't mean Toshiba makes all the parts. if you buy Toyota car it doesn't mean Toyota made every part in the car?
Does the (TL) (AA) make a difference? I'm finding all sorts on ebay, some (A1) (RR), (AA), etc.
I found a great deal for the same model number, but (TL) (A1) instead of the broken one I have that is (TL) (AA).
I found a Toshiba screen on Amazon with the exact same serial number as mine for $63.89. Is it ok to go ahead and purchase it or should take precautions and make sure the resolution, size, type and cable pins are all the same? Any help would be most appreciated.
Would this guide still be basically the same for my machine?
Toshiba Satellite C660/03C psc0qa-03c019
As I tripped over a cord and mildly cracked the screen, (there goes the warranty LOL). I know how to build pc's, but I'm a little vague on laptops.
Great video! I just replace my screen thanks

What type of screw drivers did you use and where can I buy them?
So theres only one wire to connect the screen? Is the screen left or right because from behind, its facing right and im a little confused can anyone help me please? Sorry I am a beginner.
