They're just different. The Kawai has softer mallets and a saturated sound, gives the effect of fullness. Yamaha has an articulated attack with a moderate body that emphasizes layering the ranges of the voices. Kawai saturates the bass so it seems deeper where Yamaha puts the bass as a foundation to layer the other tones above. I wish the Yamaha had more of the acoustics slow bloom and long sustain, especially in the alto and treble. For the Kawai, the resonance presence makes a lot of the instrument and it's not possible here. Step up their respective lines and you get a bit closer to the acoustics, but they're powerhouses so there will still be filtering and aspects of the tonal experience and resonances missing. Also, these are recordings of the speakers, not line out. The line out sound is nicer IMO.
I suggest go for yamaha but its up to you if you like sound of kawai than yamaha but for me sound isn't much different here, they are similar and i have bought yamaha and im happy with it. Also the brand yamaha is known for its longetivity.
@@argi0774 For me, I loved tone of Yamaha is more harmonic So Yamaha better by far If I think of kawaii i will take kawai cn 29. In my country difference between kdp 120 and cn29 just 300 USD. 😎
great comparison, thank you

Congratulations for your performance! 🎵🎶
can you do the ydp 165 vs kdp 120 ?
Yes, I've waited for this! Thank you!
the information given in the intro was the most important part of this video lol
Thanks. Main difference is Kawai is sampled individually for every single key and Yamaha not, as far I know.
i choose kawai.
Should I go for the Kawai kdp120 or the Yamaha ydp 165?
That’s the big question. Both are great!
@@Digitalpianocom Which has the best sound?
Not so simple to answer. You will need to test (or use this video) to determine which you like the best.
