Very nice cleanup of a cool piece of Americana. You really made that brass look good. I think American LaFrance built entire fire trucks for many decades. I think they are now out of business. It would be interesting to know how old that nozzle really is. Looks like an oldie.
I sent mine to your Instagram
@ Thanks Pat, I looked online and didn't see any exactly like this one but if I find out I'll let you guys know.
@ Got it Dan O!
The nozzle looks great. Can't beat the bright brass look.
Thank you! I am very happy with how it polished up with the dents and dings still showing it was used.
Magic yellow polish cloth , wow that cloth added some shine ! You win your own challenge !!
Thanks Jimothy! It's no majic t shirt but it works pretty good.
Good morning George the hose nozzle looks amazing I’m happy you left the imperfections in it tells the story of its history. Anything rusted like signs or sheet metal I’m good with leaving them original but when it comes to brass I feel you do it justice bringing it back to its former glory great video and thanks for sharing
Hi Bruce, Thank you and I agree. I liked seeing the dings and the flat spot that's really a tell tell sign it was used. Brass is just one of those things that patina isn't a good look on. Take care.
George you have done a wonderful job on that firefighters hose nozzle. I have two friends who are firefighters. One is the retired Lempster, Fire Chief and the other is his son who is a member of the Concord Nh fire dept. The fire chief and I were kids together back in the 1960s and he knew my dad and his buddy. They own my dad's camp. I know they would applaud what you did to that fire nozzle. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lempster fire dept didn't use one of those nozzles back in the day of antique fire trucks! Well done George!
Hi Stephen thank you! Maybe! I really couldn't find too much about this style of nozzle online. Please Thank your friends for their service from my family.
Looks great George, personally I can’t help but polish anything that’s brass, no matter how old it is. Then comes the problem. Leave it as and you have to keep polishing it every year, or clean with a solvent and spray it with clear lacquer, they great for years, but once they do go black it’s a hell of a job to get the clear lacquer off again
Thanks Robert, When I was a kid we had a tradition of polishing all the brass in the house on New Years. That inspired the challenge. take care and I'll catch up with you later.
Awesome nozzle! I'm glad you've had good participation in your challenge!
Thanks Man, There are so many great entries I can't wait for all you guys to see them.
I was blinded by the shine at the end! Really nice job on the cleanup and you took it just where you should have! Great wall hanger.
Thanks Fred G! All shiny but the dents and dings show it was actually used. I just gotta figure out where I'm gonna display it. Looks like I'll be rearranging my shop again. 😅
That thing is amazing! Brass deserves to be shiny, it’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks Todd, I'm happy I decided to bring back it's shine. I was a little reluctant but now I'm so glad I did it.
Nice cleanup and polish job. That shine made me think of that old song Blinded By The Light. 🤣👍
Thanks Kid, I'm gonna be singing that song for days now! 😂
@@Uwannawatch 🤣👍 Sorry about that
Looks fantastic George well worth the time. Thanks for sharing your expertise
Thank You Michael, I appreciate it.
It turned out great love how brass cleans up
Thanks Larry! There's just something so satisfying about bringing out the shine on brass.
That nozzle came out fantastic, I am glad you left the dings and dents it showed it had a life of use. Hopefully if I am a little better Saturday I will try to make a flea market I like the hunt later George once again great work.
Thank you Dan, That's what I thought too. It's cleaned and shined but you can see it really was used at one time. Hope you feel better and if you make it out let us know what you find. Have a good rest of the week Brother.
Nice big old hunk of shiny brass. Looks Fantastic George.
You're telling me Mr. Dale it took a whole day to get it done. Thank You!
Magnificent work brother. I reckon you win your own challenge with that entry. Just the quirky nature of the piece makes it a winner.
I absolutely love brass. Gotta clean and polish any brass item.
Sorry but I didn’t get to participate in your challenge as things have been really busy here. I have watched a lot of the entries and picking a winner is not going to be easy.
Take care of yourself buddy. You don’t sound well. Give our love to your family.
Thank you my Brother! I know you are busier than a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest. There's a lot of really great entries that's for sure. I'm alright now. Take care and don't over do it! Love to you guys!
What a difference! Great job !
Thanks Brother!
Nice Job George! That is such a cool piece!
Thanks Kurt! See ya soon Brother.
That looks really good! Noce wall hanger.
Reduce the inlet down to a garden hose connection just to see what it does. Of course not enough volume or pressure but worth a look.
Thanks for sharing
Tha
Thank you, I might do that one day just to see it working.
Sweet looks great, George 👍
It has a great shine on it
Thanks Dan O!
The dings, are the bling❤
The dings are the bling indeed! I like them it shows someone actually used it and now it gets to retire all shiny.
Very Impressive! turned out great Brother George!
Thank you Brother.
I believe that is Elmira, NY one of the great cities from the age when we manufactured things.......here.
Very nicely done industrial Americana. I'm on the hunt for one now. Can't wait for outdoor flea market season.
Thank you, Industrial Americana I'm gonna have to borrow that phrase. I'm with you I can't wait for our markets to pick up. This has been the longest, slowest winter I have ever tried to pick through.
Cool item! It looks like solid gold!
Thank You!
That came out great. it needs to be displayed on the wall. you turned it into a nice show piece. Well done.
Thanks Mike, I'm trying to decide where I want to display it. I think it's time to revamp my shop again this spring.
Looks great Brother, right choice to clean it up, now it looks just like it did back when it was on a fire truck 🚒. Got your amazing parcel 📦 today. Everything is wonderful thank you so much from Holly and myself. Sending you a fb message in abit take care you two.
Thanks Brother! We're happy it got there and that ya'll liked it! I'll catch up with ya later. Say hello to the Missus.
That came out crazy good dude.. I'm thinking that could have been an honorable mention for The Classy brassy challenge.. I've got an old fireman's gaff hook I think it's a La Frange(I think that's how you spell it). I'm going to be restoring that in the next couple videos.. then I'm going to donate it to our local fire department. Stay safe dude
CC!!! Thanks Brother! That sounds like it's gonna be a cool project, and very cool of you to donate it. There's been about 50 entries for the challenge!
@Uwannawatch that's an awesome turn out .
Nice job, I’d have left the dings too, no way I’m spending that kinda time chasing them down! 😂
Thanks Man, I couldn't see taking all the dents, dings and use off of it. The wife passed it by she thought it was some sort of plumbing valve..So she thought I wouldn't want it.
Wow that turned out awesome thank you for the video
Thanks and thank you for checking in.. Hope you are doing good.
That thang is awesome! Fantastic job brother!
Thanks Big Brother! It really did need to be brought back to its shiny glory.
Pretty cool Super George! You always find cool stuff to restore. Nicely done brother
Thanks Captain Ivan! I just wish I had as much time as I do projects. Take care Brother and hope it's going good down there.
Good morning,
The valve turned out great. The company that made the valve also made other fire fighting equipment, including fire trucks. I would love to see you restore one of those. You would definitely need a bigger shop for that (just kidding). Thanks for another interesting video, keep them coming.
Thank You, Yes I would need a bigger shop for that and someone to tell my wife 🤣🤣.
That nozzle looks super nice. I haven't had much time for any hunting,so unfortunately I won't be able to participate in your challenge. Hopefully I can on the next one. Have agreat weekend and see you Sunday
Hey Mike, That's a shame Brother but I get the busy part. Next time, Take care and I'll catch up with ya on Sunday.
Ooooh...shiny! Nice job on the nozzle - it looks great!
Thank You! I'm happy to have brought it back to it's shiny glory!
AWESOME looking brass nozzle, especially keeping its well earned character! Hmm, maybe it has a future as a beer tap? 👍😁
Thanks Matt, It was the flat spot that got me..That's a real sign of use. Oh and great idea for a beer tap!
Excellent find and restoration
Thanks Brother! Hope you are doing good!
Nice work George. All the newer nozzles are aluminum and plastic and boring looking. The one drawback to the old style is they are heavy. That brass one is a beauty! Have a great day Brother.
Mike,Mike,Mike! Thank You! They might be heavy but they are also still around so you know it's a trade off. I am so happy I decided to clean it. I was a little reluctant since it's old but I think leaving the dents and dings was a good compromise. Take care and hope you have a good rest of the week.
@@Uwannawatch You did it Justice! Perfect!
Looks amazing. Rig it up to water plants, probably not enough pressure but a black ops plumber could manage such a feat
Thank You, it would make an epic garden hose nozzle.
Nice work on the nozzle. I'm glad you are having a good response to your challenge. 😄👍🏻🇺🇲
Thanks Joe, There have been a lot of great entries. I can't wait until you guys see all of them.
Wow, that is very cool. What stories could that tell.
Thank you, I know right. It would have some amazing stories I bet.
Really nice piece of history George. Looks great!
Thanks Mr. Bill, I am happy I found it and to bring it back to it's shiny glory.
Great job on it, it looks great.
Thanks Clifford!
Very nice There is your Classy Brassy Challenge winner 🏆 🥇
Thanks! I appreciate it but there are a lot of great entries!
Great job!
Thank You John, I am very happy with how it came up.
That came out beautiful!! I like how the valve operates much the same as a dry barrel fire hydrant . Maybe a quick shot of lacquer so you dont have to polish it again so soon. I got the ick, but at least its warmer but a lil rainy too. Have a grand week, and a super weekend brother!
Hey Brother, Sorry to hear you got the crud as we call it at the Uwannawatch house. Take care and feel better. I'll catch ya on Sunday.
Hey !George vraiment du très beau travail de restauration que cette bouche à incendie, deplus qui s'appelle "La france " j'adore. Cela aurait pu êtres un motif pour t'on concours. Premier prix George. L.O.L. ❤
Hello Patrick, Thank you, I was a little reluctant to clean it but it really deserves to be cleaned and shiny again. take care my friend.
D I love it. That has got to be the coolest of all the classy brassy items. Nobody else even have it has a chance. A great item and a great restoration. I'm looking forward to seeing all the entries
Thank You Mr. John! There are a lot of great entries! I'll talk with ya soon.
Great job keep up the great work
Thanks Patrick, I appreciate ya tuning in and for the nice words of encouragement.
Looks great
Thank You!
@Uwannawatch you are welcome
Looks great George, I have a wee bit of fire apparatus knowledge & I do mean wee, someone way too many years ago told me that style was/is called a porthole nozzle for ship fires, hopefully someone out there has some real experience, Cheers pal!
Thanks Mike, I really appreciate it. I'm going to try looking that up. I didn't find any nozzles like this when I was looking online. I found plenty of the lever ones.
Right on 👍🏻 add a 90° elbow and put it on a keg🤣
Right On! Right On! You are a genius Uncle James!!
Looks amazing
Thank You!
Nice 👍🏼 if it’s not a family heirloom why not shine up
Thanks exactly. I was a little undecided about if I should shine it up or not. But I thought leaving the dents and dings of its use was a good compromise.
It's funny, this isn't a nice piece of brass..........
This is where we take another look at a common metal and see the endless beauty it can become
Well said. Thank You.
Very nice! You could put a new hose on it and handle your neighbors dogs!! 🤣🤣
Hey Mr. Wallace! 🤣🤣🤣. Take care Sir!
American LaFrance, commonly called “ALF”
Thanks Bill!
