- Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've sat down and done a video opening cards solo, it almost feels weird at this point haha. In today's video we have to talk about the state of the pokemon card market in 2025 (it's crazy) and open some of the newest sets out right now. Prismatic Evolutions is hot and fresh and EXPENSIVE, so let's chat about that and open some packs.

I think there are lots of things I could have gone deeper on or elaborated more on in this video and I can do that in a follow up of some sort. There's a lot of reasons the Pokemon card market is where it is right now but I'll be the first to admit I don't have any real answers. Scalpers, print shortages, influencers like me talking about them all the time all have an impact on things. Lots of you have made good points below too! I appreciate the good conversation here.
So speaking of pokemon card openings when's the next pack battle with a punishment I'm thinking of a punishment Luke eating a ghost pepper or eating ghost pepper wings or da bomb beyond insanity wings😅
Would you be willing to receive packs from people? No matter what set as long as it's pokemon, like for example I'm usually able to find quite a few packs/sets at the stores near me that I could send. I enjoy this content a lot and I'd be more than willing to help keep it going. :)
While I do agree that there is a shortage in cards, a lot of this is due to scalpers or people looking to resell cards. Looking at pokemons' production for cards, they have grown exponentially, but now too many people are scalping and buying sooooo much in bulk that it feels as if it hasn't changed. Regardless of the situation, I'm so glad to have videos like this to watch where people enjoy opening the packs and seeing the art instead of people looking for the most valuable card/ highiets return. Personally I’ve switched to ONLY supporting my local mom&pop shop where the daughter and father run the TCG side of the store. The experience is millions times better than fighting bots in queues online

I saw a couple clips at the craziness and everything. Then earlier today, I went to a store and talked to them about it. They were saying the scalpers were actually following delivery trucks from store to store so they know when one has been restocked and stuff. Crazy
yup at my store they were being stocked and immediately there were people there waiting but it was later restocked again on a diff day (they left some stock behind) and there weren't any people that time.
Anthony, I have not been able to open any sets since 151, scalpers here in Oklahoma is ridiculous, but I also blamed TPC, and stores like Walmart and Target allowing people to take as many as they want on drop day. I refuse to buy a ETB for 200% of what retail is. Glad you got some buddy.
I def recommend what he says and get Japanese cards but I will say the price will still rise from market price but 100 or less for a box of prismatic seems worth. Also the pull rates are better
As someone who works a GameStop if you have one nearby definitely try there, we limit ALL Pokémon tcg items to 2 per person including boosters so we’ve been able to keep stock up fairly well, can’t guarantee they’ll have some near you but check with them often as we receive stock fairly often
@@loganstadtler3795they for sure don't do that at the GameStops near me. I literally watched someone grab everything that involved Pokemon, spending about 4k in one shot. I was pissed off
@@kreze9696 for sure, a guaranteed hit in every pack is sweet. I got some decent pulls from one booster
@@loganstadtler37953 local shops around me were allotted 5 ETBs each on release date. They have had like one shipment since release with another 3-4 ETBs. One of the guys I talked to said he is an avid collector and still has not gotten a single card from PE. I have not seen an ETB for SP or PE in stores. I collect ETB boxes so sucks when I can't find them.
people that say "pokemon cards isnt gaming" are wrong, its called TCG, trading card GAME, it is a form of gaming, just cause its not a VIDEO game, doesnt mean it isnt a game

I actually had no idea that the EX cards were still around, so I was very glad to see the Latias EX! Also don't worry about doing these card pulls alone. The vibes are chill and really relaxing and it's perfect in its own way

I feel that Jiggly, I started my channel last year opening packs just for fun and while I don't only focus only Pokemon it's a core childhood for myself and others and it's gotten tough getting packs. Keep doing what you're doing and take care man!
I’m doing exactly the same, just bought and ripped a box of Japanese Battle Partners, paid $115ish shipped. Pulled $70+ in value before grading, and the quality of the cards seem to be wayyyy more consistent than English imo. Centering and corners were mint!!
More power to you Jiggly. I collected football cards during Covid and Panini just continued to raise prices and priced people out which in turn created lower demand, myself included. I can’t justify spending that much anymore
when i saw that you uploaded a Pokémon card video i was ecstatic since you haven't done one in so long, and i didn't know why, because i don't really keep up with what's goin on for the Pokémon market, but now that i know why you haven't uploaded a new video on card openings. Although its upsetting that you cant buy packs normally anymore, due to prices skyrocketing after scalpers steal them, I'm still happy either way that you upload a Pokémon card opening whether the cards are in English or not. And if you ever have to stop buying them that's ok too, i guarantee as a community we can always just rewatch your old Pokémon videos and still laugh all the same. love all your vids panda

this is why you’re one of my favourites if not my absolute favourite when it comes to the pokemon card community. they’re fun to collect, and it’s not about the money. you don’t just try to get the most expensive thing to make a buck off of it. ive been collecting pokemon cards essentially my whole life since my older brother was a pokemon fan when i was born! im almost 20 and still love to open a pack or two when i can, and so does my brother. we still have huge collections probably worth a lot of money, but we don’t do it for the money. its just raw and personal that way, and thats special to me :) thank you panda
Hard agree with you that the best part of the videos for us is when you're enjoying yourself. Yeah, it's fun to see the art and the banter (when you have a buddy with you), but we watch because we want to see you have a good time :)

jiggly i know u might not see this but if u wanna save more money on packs korean versions are half the price of japanese and u get the same pull rate ive been opening korean instead of english for 3 months now and one set i kept getting was eevee heroes and finally after 5 boxes i pulled the moonbreon eevee heroes is the korean/japanese set of evolving skies and each pack had 5 cards and 10 packs per box while korean/japanese terastal festival is 10 packs per box and 10 cards per pack
You BigJiggy! You made me love collecting cards again. I’m only buying old packs and mostly Japanese. But I’m going to buy a PSA 10 Blue Eyes White Dragon as a memento for my late brother who wouldn’t dare let me touch his when we were kids. Love the content!
I'd love to see you start playing again. Seeing you talk about the budew being good, and noticing the Regigigas being good definitely made me feel like it'd be so cool to see you actually play the game again
I don't do anything with the TCG, play Pokémon games, and haven't watched anything since… the original series, I think. I just watch these openings for the art, your ramblings, and channel updates since this is where you tend to talk about a lot of that. The openings with other people are fun, but having a mix is nice. The solo ones are just so calm and relaxing-a side of you that we often don't see.
And you're right, purple is a great colour. Very underutilized. My favourite has always been teal, but purple has really crept up over the years. Even pinks and darker magentas are really nice for certain things. I think part of the reason it took a long time to fully see that was just growing up as a boy in the late '90s/early '00s. Even in a family where that kind of thing wasn't a big deal, there was still a lot of stuff hinting toward "Isn't it kind of *weird* for you to like a colour between red and blue?"
I agree that it’s the less supply and the scalpers but it’s now also going to be hard because it looks like some card shops are Opting out of having new Pokémon sets just because of scalpers and (from what I remember) scalpers robbing delivery trucks and stuff like that from the Covid times

I've been loving the TCG Pocket experience. It's been a fun dive into the nostalgia from growing up without having to spend hundreds of dollars on packs. I'd absolutely watch some digital pulls or battles!
I also agree with the outlook on what's going on with the pokemon community, and how for those who are just trying to make a profit off of
a couple pieces of cardboard that the community wants to collect and cherish is just not balanced. But other than that can't wait for more card openings
and hopefully nothing goes wrong in the delivery process for you cause that can also be a handful. :)

You see, this is why I play Yugioh, which does have its own problems, but I’ve never seen scalping like what’s happening with Pokemon right now in Yugioh!!! That, and ever since I had my Pokemon cards taken from in the 6th grade I’ve refused to get back into Pokemon, but I still like seeing what goes on with the community!!!!!

Love the new tcg card game just open daily packs and look at the virtual cards 😊 you and Pokémon Randolf and terroriser are my favourite Pokémon card UA-camrs just because you enjoy the art more than the value. Okay Randolf is selling them for money but he's a vendor 😊
Literally the only card packs me and my younger brother can find around us are shrouded fables, the card market is insane right now. Even when i tried to move back into the sports cards and collecting those I cant hardly find them anywhere, the market is outright insane in general for a simple fun hobby that everyone should be able to enjoy
Our local shop was great enough to save all the prismatic they got, not much though, for the local league. As a professor, (who got into pokemon cause of you! Love you!), it's really been bringing me down. Every set seems so inflated with 80% of cards being useless. They said they'd print more, but I'll believe it when I see it...I think our midnight prerelease for journey together is gonna be huge. I love the people I've met and friends I've made but the pokemon company is really making it hard for me to support them.

My cousin is the reason why i like pokemon tcg, the first pack i ever bought is the marshadow one with the free marshadow figure. I love marshadow so much and I got lucky that I got all of the marshadow cards, the rarest card I got is the one with the machamp and marshadow is sitting on his arm(my cousin gave that card to me as a bday gift), after that I quit. I missed opening pkmn packs but not planning to return tho which is why I enjoy watching you and the other crew opening packs.

As a fellow collector it hurts to see the hobby go this direction. It's supposed to be fun and built around a community, but now it's getting divided and brought down. I've recently reinforced friendships because of collecting cards and it sucks to not be able to find anything to be able to enjoy this hobby with them.
I don't care for Pokemon cards (did as a kid), but Panda does! and I enjoyed this video, plus it's informing for those that want to invest in it so.. lovely video king

Lil edit: We'd love to watch you open digital packs too Panda, though I do want to say, I personally fell in love with opening packs recently simply for the art(really hunting for cool leafeons, theyre too cute), my brother and you were the biggest reasons for that. And I just don't think I'd feel the same way opening digital packs. And believe me I did try (though I only gave it a month so maybe I didn't try hard enough)
So please don't pursue digital openings if it doesn't satisfy you the same, maybe do one or two videos but if you aren't feeling it, that's okay. For me it just feels great to be able to hold the cool art anytime I'd like. The physical aspect essentially.
We would likely all love to see you do a series for digital openings though, so if you do like it, that's great and we'd love to watch, I myself included!🐼🤟

I haven’t been able to get any PE yet because all my retail stores have refused to even order it and I’m not paying 2x what they retail. But my biggest issue is that these high prices are keeping kids from being able to join the community and enjoy collecting.
gotta love a pokemon pack opening with anthony. But this is the main reason why I stopped after vivid voltage/darkness ablaze because it was just ridiculous how much it was costing me just go get a few packs and I had only gotten back into collecting again due to all the hype but the same hype is what killed my love for collecting now

Terastal is fun to open. Despite the guaranteed SIR per box it can still be a bit of a pain to get an Eeveelution but the possibility of a demigod/god pack is fun. And I just love so much of the art in it 😋
to make any major changes to the phone camera you have to dig into the setting and lock how far the zoom can go so it doesn't change which camera its using which changes the perspective

It's been ages since I went out to collect and purchase Pokémon cards (last time I did was Sun and Moon). I would love to buy sets nowadays, but I totally agree with the fact that it's a waste of time and money to spend over double the market price for this stuff.

As someone who's just recently got back into tcg collecting, AND is unfortunately in the UK, I really feel you on your complaints about the pricing. It's already difficult enough to find sealed stuff in this damn country, but then you have to compete with bots who snap up any new releases & resell them for double/triple the MMRP. I've had to resort to buying people's bulk off of eBay to get new (to me, anyway) cards cause it's so difficult to get anything, which obviously means all the art rare and ex's etc are picked out.

I had switched to buying only singles with the odd 3-pack blister here or there, but even the singles have ballooned in price. I fortunately finished off the Gallerian Gallery set back in December, and now those cards have inflated to around 2x to 2.5x what I just paid for them a few months prior. Sets I was in the process of working on (SwSh trainer galleries) now cost hundreds more to complete. It's insane. I make a good income, but with a new baby, I just can't justify spending that kind of money on cards. I'm taking a step back from collecting at this point. I still love the hobby though, and I'm really looking forward to watching the Japanese pack openings.
Honestly as someone who doesn't like rng i prefer the japanese set cause you're always guaranteed. Not a fan of have to spend a bunch of money to collect stuff cause of rng. Also im really enjoying the gaming videos since you are in a better place mentally. Keep it up Panda!!
Honestly I don't mind the switch to Japanese cards as for me, I watch these vids for the commentary and the artwork Honestly. Love being able to see the card art and your reaction to it sometimes.
It's funny actually, yesterday I actually bought two packs of Sword and Shield that the company I work for accidently ordered due to a wrong listing at our main warehouse. Hadn't bought any form of tcg in over 20+ years. Spent $12 for the two packs packs and pulled a card worth about $20 ungraded so I can understand the thrill. Not gonna sell it or suddenly get into card opening, due to how hard it is to find cards/newer items in general in Alaska.
So at least I'll still have your channel to get the second hand thrill of opening packs, since you are the only one I watch for said content, aside from when you and wildcat open packs together.
I have always wanted to collect pokemon cards and made the mistake of collecting them now 😅
I have opened a single japanese booster booster bundle which was almost 120$. 100 before tax. The guaranteed hits were cool but man I was crushing crown zenith in 2024 with those booster bundles and now all the cards are clear in all the stores near me.
I love the idea of opening Japanese packs, I do that already because I’m chasing what I like and not for competitive purposes.

My wife is in with the card guy at her job, he always sets aside 2 Prismatic Evolution ETBs at MSRP, so only 60 bucks per ETB. Got a solid plug
