- Vinyl Cartridges Galore!!! :-D at Yodobashi, Tokyo.
Dear Friends, this is Yodobashi Camera, at Akihabara :-D. It gives me a heightened meaning of the word: “MEGA STORE”.
Hahaha… I was almost breathless filming this…. the floor area is very big, MANY MANY MANY items are JUST all stacked, packed and situated side by side, that I have no chance to stop.
Else my legs will be very very tired. My eyes are definitely pretty tired but very happy :-) at the end of this Vinyl-Hifi Tour of Duty.
Thank you all my friends,
for watching again!
Big project coming up.
Stay tuned.
Best Regards my friends!
Sincerely, Ian. - Фільми й анімація

+Neil Wootton Thank you Brother Neil. Will do. Let's keep the vinyl faith :-D
Hahahaha... "turntable shopping from my couch"!!... couldn't have been more apt.
Brother, see you and best regards!.. Ian.
Most of us can only dream of visiting Japan's hi-fi shops and even shopping, but you have made all of that available for us from far european countries. There's everything one can think of, a real Hi-Fi paradise Thank you A LOT
Yodobashi Camera, the best shopping from Tokyo! I loved this place and bought many things for me, of course! lol
Hahahah!!!!!! Many things for...you!!!! Me too, for me!!!👍😄🙏yo brother!!!!!
Ian San, I'am with vinyl and Hi-Fi since 1974, I have visited most of Europeans and UK's (London) hi-fi shops but never in my life have seen so much and so good equipped shops as in your Japan videos. It's amazing, can barely believe my eyes ..
That's insane. I've never seen so much equipment in one place!
+Kaiwaza Hi Friend! Me too!!! :-D !!!

Hi Ian, Yodobashi Camera is my favourite too. It has been my reference shop for anything to do with audio-visual, photography, and home appliances since I was a teenager. It is just fantastic to be there looking around. I hope you located your wife in the crowd!
+aldente2011 Dear Friend! Yes I located her in the end!.. Hahahaahaa!! Thank you for your concern!
Now I know you're into photography as well!!!
Amazing store. Akihabara was always one of my favorite places to shop. There are a couple of stores that I would spend hours in just looking around at the new equipment and gear. Thank you sharing as always.

+Jelo Berbano Yes Brother Jelo :-) I did miss a LOT of things!!!
After going through the video clips carefully, I realised that there ARE many things I would be very very interested in and two accessories/items I would definitely have bought because they are much cheaper there!!! Ah!... I missed them!!! :-D Reason to go there again in June!..
Thank you again friend for being with me :-). Perhaps the Technics SL1200GAE and Sony HS-X500 turntables would be out in June soon :-D... Not that I will buy them, but will be interesting to see and touch!

Ian.
Fascinating place..thanks for sharing friend
Thank you for coming by too, my friend :-)
Wow...another fantastic video its so interesting to me to see how great other countries are at selling hifi we don't have anything like that in the UK.
+Timothy Harper Audiophiles all over the world are envious of your country U.K. for being the stronghold of audio technology and advancements, and a bastion of audio industry. Decades after decades we see UK companies giving us advancements in technology and quality giving us better and better sound. Audiophiles all over the world have U.K. to thank.
:-D Sincerely, Ian.
+HiViNyws channel yes we do have some fantastic audio company's in the UK I have a all British hifi but we don't have walk shop's like the one in your video unfortunately.....
+Timothy Harper I see...neither does Singapore have such big crazy stores hahaha :-D
I can't imagine a single store like this in America. Incredible !!
Dear Brother Richard :-D hello!
Hope you're doing well!! I don't know why and how these guys in Japan manage to pull something off like this. I can't imagine. Nothing of this scale in Singapore too of course!! :-D
Insane !!!!!! It is like the Wall Mart for Hi Fi Equipments...I guess you have spent some money on there :)
Another apt analogy! Wall Mart for Hifi! :-D Hahaha. you're good you're good...Brother from the rich wonderful land of Brazil!
Wow, that was the best video i ever saw. amazing . I am getting crazy ...
Brother😄👍good stuff eh!?!!!! 😄😄😄I was amazed too!! A whole row of cartridges and much much more🤣🤣🤩!!! It is a crazy experience to walk in that store. Have fun Buddy and enjoy your vinyl analogue journey💪🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶!
It's massive work you have done to Show it to the people in every corner. Thank you so much friend. I never thought that in Japan even old models looks brand new. Couldn't believe it. Thanks.
@@mxwxgxgxb you're very welcomed Sir 🤗I am sure you and I will equally be kids in a candy store if we visit there again !!! Thank you for your kindest time my friend! Warmest Regards.

Best Regards,
Ian :-)
Heaven!
:-D :-D :-D hahaha!!!!
We never got a chance to visit the Yodobashi Camera but Akihabara is pretty damn awesome...! Thank you for showing level 4 with all of the audiophile goodies!
You're very welcomed and I'm thrilled to be able to film the whole level4 for you friends! The staff seem oblivious to me filming and talking along the way!...Hahaha... well, the video is good for their publicity! :-D I've been to Japan so many times, and the frequency is about 3-4 times a year, but this is the first time I'm at Yodobashi-Akihabara! I should've been there earlier.
Will explore more for you friends at the June trip.
Best regards my friend, and thank you for your support,
Sincerely, Ian.
+HiViNyws channel This store is AMAZING and one that I could plan a family vacation around!! I can't even imagine what that company's overhead burden must be, but as a consumer, I definitely appreciate their demo-based business model. I wish we had stores like that here in the US..... heck I'd be happy with the inventory of just one of their floors on offer at a store here. [wishful thinking]
I enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your enthusiasm for vinyl & all things Hi-Fi. Thank you for sharing.
~Kerby
Amazing!!
+brightonmusic Thank you friend! :-D
Best Regards, ian.
Great video, as always.
Thank you my friend :-D do enjoy your stay there if you are going Tokyo. See you!

Hi brother :-D, great to see you again. Hehheh... let me know if you are dropping by there again, and see if our itineraries coincide!... See you soon brother!!again on this channel or other vinyl youtubers'channels!!
All I can say is OH My Gosh!! I don't think I could take it!! I don't think there is a store like that in the U.S.,seriously.
Let me know if you are heading there my friend. Some of my Brazilian friends are going there in coming May 2018 :-D !!!
I love your videos ...love my audio hobby
Thank you Francisco!!!

Hi Ian. I really enjoy your videos, was in Yodobashi Camera a year ago so heaven returned with your video.I also have a Japanese wife who likes Momoe Yamaguchi, Bill Evens and Charlie Byrd.Have been collecting records for many a year and play them on a Michell Orbe,SME 309,AT33PTG/II with Leben CS300 XS and Revolver Music1 speakers. Look forward to seeing lots more of your videos, especially ones when you visit Japan. Best regards from Rega land, Derek.
Ah I see Brother Derek :-D !.. my wife sends her regards to a fellow Momoe-chan fan!!!
My goodness great system you have there my friend!!! :-D super coooool. Understated at33ptgii, revolving pillars of the Michelle, wood and gold + green striped Leben, precision SME and classic speakers.... a combination of classics from your Rega land and Japan! :-D
We meet there in Japan hopefully. Would want to catch up with you in person too! We are going there in midJune my brother and fellow Momoe supporter!... Hope to see you both!
Sincerely,
Ian.
Astonishig shopping center! Thank you for sharing these tours, although here you passed to fast by and showed very little of all those cartridges, neither prices can't be seen. Maybe next time ;) cheers
Thank you my friend for letting me know!!... too many things to film i guess. Too dazed and excited too. Thank you for coming by here and catching up brother in Vinyl!!!
Best Regards,
ian :-)
What an amazing audio store. I have never been to anything like that in the US.
Dear Thomas! I am sure in your previous Japan trips you have been to many of their audio and vinyl stores more than i ! :-D
Thumbs up for all your travels!!!
Wow what a store! The only thing missing are dedicated quiet listening rooms
:-D haahahaa.... you are right with your sharp concern on that!!!
But yes, there ARE, dedicated listening rooms on the sides , about four of them, on the sides, which i didn't film down :-D... so yes, there are :-D
I want to live in Japan lol 😂
Though I live on the coast in Kent now, I've spent most of my life in London where I was born and brought up. I can tell you we have no stores even closely approaching the levels of choice available in Japan. Yes, we have specialist, and thank goodness vinyl is making a serious comeback in the UK 🇬🇧 so hopefully things will improve.
Great insight Ian, thank you - exciting 😃
Yes my friend from U.K.!!! I heard from many UK friends that Vinyl is making great strides in the U.K. Very happy for all of you guys!!!!! :-D Hahahah...let us all look forward. Yes, exciting indeed. Yum yum!!!
This video makes me drool
+Björn Jakobsson's Record Collection :-D when i was there, what I saw around me... my goodness... surreal! :-D
Thank you for coming by my friend!
Hello my friend, how are you? Your videos are beautiful!! Greetings from Mexico!
Hi brother from Mexico! :-D Thank you.
Great to see you again!!!!
Please help yourself to more vinyl joy from your turntable with more friends around too!!!
Best Regards !!!
- ian.
I haven't seen an electronics store like that since the 80s - that's the way they used to look (MUCH SMALLER!), but now stores that sell electronics are specialty shops that are like floor rooms, or like Best Buy... kind of a trip down memory lane, actually. We certainly don't have the variety of tables and most definitely not speakers like that... Just incredible. We no longer value electronics like we used to here in the States.
+dixielandfarm Dear Chris,... many of your fellow countrymen have commented similar insights into what's in the States... and now that you have mentioned it again.
And btw, :-D take heart as the people in the Far East, loves the blue lit VU meters of the McIntosh, and have never let it go. They will be here to stay :-) !!! I know it is kind of a audio cliche to talk about the romance and love of McIntosh, but it is really the truth. American traditional muscular amps will always have a big place in the audiophile's thinking and liking, e.g. Krell, Dan D'Agostino, Mark Levinson, Boulder, etc. :-)
Best Regards my friend, I totally enjoy everytime you speak to us.
Ian.
I wish that more record stores sold
Japanese imported vinyl here in
America.
It is only in the past 2 years(after many years with no vinyl manufacturing ability) that Japan again has a vinyl pressing plant..A new pressing plant was built by Sony.
We Do NOT have anything like that here in the U.S... Great video, Thank you!
+Tom caddick We do not have anything like that too in Singapore :-D
Again, I really don't know how they can pull it off with anything as grand a scale as that, and work with countless retailers/distributors to have everything put up there for sale together side-by-side...even the high-end models. I really can't fathom how they did it! Amazing...
Perhaps the limited edition 1200units run of the Technics SL1200GAE coming out in Summer 2016 would be put up there too? :-D
See you brother Tom :-)
+Tom caddick And it has been a pleasure to take this and film the entirety for all of you my friends. Pleasure :-D! Thank you for coming by again too Tom!
I was alway very impressed by how much stock is kept in stores in Japan. regardless of what your passion was you could pick it up the same day if you went to the right districts.
You spot it well my friend!!! :-D... they are really "well-stocked in products regardless of what your passion is...same day pickup if you went to the right districts."
I am returning to vinyl after many years, and I have to thank you for your very informative videos, because of your high praise of the NAGAOKA MP-110 Cartridge, I will be patiently waiting for the post man to deliver the one I ordered a day ago. Keep up the good Work. I love you energy!
Mengil Deane Oh wow! 👍😄 You surprised me that your story of your recent return to vinyl and that Nagaoka purchase just completed yesterday! I wish you all the very best for your future days of great and moving vinyl playback yet again!!!😄and be surrounded by your family and friends often at the same time as well! Very touched by your gestures my friend.
Sincerely,
ian.
WOW! Thank you SO much for this! I have always wanted to go to Japan and visit one of the big Akhihabara audio stores, but I am in a wheelchair and the travel would be very difficult for me. Plus, I would come out of there broke! If I ever make it there, I would probably have a heart attack on the cartridge/tonearm aisle. So many Koetsu's and Ortofon's!!! My wife made it to Japan once on business and wound up one day across the street from the Yodabashi Camera store in Shinjuku (spelling?), which is supposedly even larger, but she was with other people and didn't have time to go in. Please excuse my Japanese spelling, most of it is probably incorrect. :( Thanks again. I subscribed. :)
+James 73 Thank you James...
Don't worry :-)... everything will be fine. I was a pedestrian being knocked down by a car 2 decades ago and my right femur was broken. I was on crutches for 2.5years... thankful that my family helped me through everything... I wish you well. You wife and family too.
May you and your family be well and happy.
From Ian.
I wanna stay here a whole day!
Hahaha haha.... many of us doooooo! The whole day! Wahahahaha.... :-D
My wife gave me 2.5hrs here at this shop but time flies! So i went in there at 1pm...and the next moment I looked at my watch thinking it has only ONLY BEEN an hour, it was already 3:30pm!!! Serious!!! It only seemed like an hour! :-D
Dear friend, hope you make it there soon too.
My best regards to you.

Dear Ian, October 2021 update: Some audio equipment (but not "High end" products) are again available at Yodobashi.
My credit card would be hurting after a visit to that store. lol.
Hohohoho!!! Very poisonous place for audiophiles to land up in!!!! Ah!!!...
Hahaha.... .. i made it out alive my friend Bob!
Thank you for coming by and your support and encouragement again Brother Bob.
Enjoy a good Sunday ahead with family and friends!.

Wow, a hypermarket of AV electronics.
+silicone6827129 Hahaha... yes a "hypermarket!" indeed my friend :-D
Thanks Ian !! Jimmy ....
Thank you Brother Jimmy for coming by and watching the video sharings!!! :-D We will continue to energize the Vinyl community in our own spheres of influence. Let's go!!! :-D

+X junkie NL Hahha.. SHARP EYES!!!! :-D You're good, you're good! See you again my friend.
i've never seen something like this before, i'd have to sell both kidneys before stepping into that store :)
Hahaha haha. .. you made me flip with your comments!!! :-D thank you for providing good humour for me now as I am having my lunch!
Thank you Brother Louis! :-D
Wow, I can't help but imagine how it would sound if ALL those speakers were hooked up and Daft Punk's Technologic was played at full volume.
Hahhahaha... Daft Punk's Technologic!!!!! :-D Well visualized my friend!!!!!!
I have no words......
+Nelson De Silva Hohoho.... :-D
Wow! This is a stark contrast to the way American electronic stores have been for the past few years... You walk into a Best Buy today, and there's hardly any reason to get excited. 😕
Thank you Buddy :-D for coming by and catching UP!!!
Warmest Regards and a lovely and joyous 2019 to you and your family AND your vinyl-playing friends!!!~
wow
TheHundrethmonkey we meet there if our dates coincide then👋😄
my head would explode.....gear overload. Nothing even close to this place where I live. Just Amazing!
I live in Iceland and here we use 220v-240v EU plugs. Is it possible get a modification since Japan used 110-120v?
Or does the equipment support both?
Dear Buddy :-)
I live in Singapore and we use 240V 50Hz... i recommend getting the "Ariake UT-030" step-down transformer, or likewise models from rakuten.co.jp :-D !!! Find the model that suits your electronics' wattage.
I hope this message would still come in helpful.
Warmest Regards my friend,
~ ian.
I hope their Security Systems are worth just as much as their equipments!!!
I didn't see that!...but now that you've mentioned it.... they better have😄😄😄
See you my friend!!..and let us have fun with our vinyl replay for many years.

Hi Ian,
I'm Eri from SG. I was wondering if I do buy a pair of b&w bookshelf speakers in Yodobashi since it's cheaper in Japan, how would the process of bringing it back to sg will be? Airport customs and will it have to be check in Luggage?
Dear Eri, you can possibly bring through and hand carry may be one of the pair, and of course the box has to comply with your airline's regulations, e.g. : L+W+D must be less than ____ cm, and weight must be less than __kg :-D I wish you all the best. You may ask another travelling person to hand carry the other of the pair :D!!! I wish him all the best too!!!
Hi Ian Thanks a lot. On to another question, from my knowledge hand carry luggage allowed is 1hand carry and 1personal small bag.. ? Am I right? Because I would probably be on a crazy vinyl spree too.. haha
Ian, are any of the Audiophile publications Japan printed in english, or ONLY Japanese? Oh!, and is there a "Vandersteen Audio" presence in Japan or Singapore?
+TONE Scott Dearest Tone... :-D the audiophile publications in Japan are only in the Japanese language, e.g. Stereo Sound, MJ, Analog... :-D
And.. yes, regarding Vandersteen... I have yet to see one. I will be on the lookout for them then, in Japan next month :-D
Dear friend, hope you and A are having a great weekend!!!
Sincerely,
ian.
American records are good.
But I would like more
imported albums.
Dear Buddy :-D thank you for catching up!! May your vinyl'ing journey be fun!!
Sir any facility available to import these vintage electronics to India
OMG
Douglas OMG too😂!!
wow thecnics area are closed
Does only the Akihabara Yodobashi branch sells turntables and carts?
Yes they do🤗my video shows them very clearly.
@@HiViNywschannel :) but how about the other branches around Tokyo like Shinjuku/Shibuya?
@@cheekeongtan4190 Akihabara Shinjuku sells turntables and cartridges too...and in Shibuya area, DiskUnion 4th/5th storey sells quite a number of used SL1200s and yes they are some cartridges as well.🤗🤗🤗
If it was not for you I would not know a Nagaoka MP-200
He lied to us. This was NOT filmed in Japan but was actually a filmed in Heaven
there is no store like that here in California
Same here my friend... not in Singapore too!... :-D
I now know why you've never returned to Japan. Until recently (for the past two and a half years), tourists were not permitted to enter Japan because of COVID-19.🙁
What's the address for this store?
sorry to say that you appeared to be in a hurry and the camera shakes were very bad.
Hi Buddy! Thank you for catching up👋😄🌞
Dear Ian, You and other audiophiles will be sad to hear, that in 2021, Yodobashi Camera has almost no audio equipment. The 4th Floor is now more than 90% televisions. All recent videos of Yodobashi Camera show the almost total absence of audio equipment. This is sad.
Dearest Buddy.
I am shocked and sad to hear that. But I believe you.
Saying that, the 4th storey of Yodobashi has always been 90% TVs and headphones, and 10% of the space on one corner (well that is a big corner :-D ) is allocated to all these hifi equipment i have shown :-D...
I hope things will get better soon.
My wife told me that the economy in Japan is really not in good shape lately.
Dear Buddy, thank you for coming to chat with me.
If you can, do send me some video links so i can watch too....
Warmest Regards to you and your family,
~ ian.
@@HiViNywschannel Also check out the channel Cider's TOKYO View. They have a recent Yodobashi video. and check Japan Explorer. They also have a Yodobashi video.

Hi Keith! not just U.S....but my home country too! Hahaha...gosh such electronic+hifi stores on such massive scales only exists in Japan I guess! 😅
They are so lucky, i could spend a whole weeks vacation in that store..
+Keith Hugo Me too :-D !!!
