Hello and welcome to BOAB Models - today we'll be showing how I made a Formula 1 Grid Diorama for 1/43 F1 cars.
The cars used are all 1/43 - Senna's Lotus 99t, Prost's McLaren Mp4/3 and Mansell's Williams FW11b - all from the 1987 season.

Great job! Exactly the same method amI used for my 1:20 mclaren. Almost a year later its still attached so its holding up well 😂

Cheers Simon! Yeah, I tested it on my McLaren Mp4/4 but I doubt anything post 2010 would fit.

No problem. I had forgotten thank IKEA also do 35cm and 50cm square box frames too so the bigger cars would be no problem in those.

That's a great looking diorama. Well done!
It's also a good idea to use this Ikea Frame. If you intend to do this several times, you could even use black and white frames to create a chequered flag on the wall.

Hi, I’m wondering where you got that black backing plate from? From my understanding you’ve just painted the existing backing board that comes with the frame? Do you think a tarmac effect would be possible with just paint or would I need spray paint? Cheers
Yes I did just paint the backing in the frame. I think there are textured paints to look more like tarmac so have a look.

@mohtor3470 you're welcome and I'm glad I inspired you to do that for your brother! I bought it online, the brand is Evemodel but if you just search model railway grass you should find some.
@@BOABModels yeah it really is great, I do wish the models I have - the burago ones - had a driver in though, it just really sells the look of it for me. Either way can't wait to get started and I'm thinking of maybe even trying to drill some holes in for LED's for the cat eyes!
@mohtor3470 it's possible you could find some 3D printed drivers. You could probably get away with just the helmet stuck on some putty
