or IDS should we enable port mirroring on the core switch and have the Snort IDS computer connect to a core switch?

ingress/egress ports -- uplink to the border firewall (INTERNET) --- [your router] -- [your firewall] -- [SNORT INLINE] or (INTERNET) --- [your router] -- [your firewall] -- [SWITCH] [SNORT SENSOR] connects to that mirror port
