- A Fixers campaign led by Julia Brown: www.fixers.org.uk/fixers/13125...
Julia Brown has drawn on her experiences with learning disabilities to highlight the benefits of art education for others facing similar struggles.
Diagnosed with dyslexia, dyspraxia and Irlen Syndrome two-years-ago, the 22-year-old from Leeds says she was often called ‘slow’ in school because she found it difficult to read and write.
But after discovering her artistic talent, she’s now showing how a creative education can unlock people’s hidden potential.
I'm 59, I went through the same thing as you. In my day beating's by the teacher was the answer to my dyslexia. I'm now teaching art to people with disabilities, it's a rewarding and humbling experience as I can feel their frustration. When I show them how to paint and we make that connection it's two people who share a common thread and the line between teacher and student disappears with a communication on a different level. It's rewarding for the both of us.
I'm dyslexic, have always been called slow and was put in special education as a child. I can draw masterpieces with no training at all. I see things in 3d when normys see things in 2d. I'm now at the top of my class at one of the hardest technical schools for robotics.
I am a 12 year old and struggle thank you love vido
