the drumming is original, there are creative elements...this album stands out, great band!!!

This one, the two from Dissection, Lord Belials - Enter the moonlight gate and also Mörk Gryning - Tusen år har gått, I concider as the best from the 90´s. Thou, I wanna hear more.. Dark Funeral - Secret of the black arts have some cool riffs but its still to raw. And newer bands like Thulcandra doesnt really have it, the right atmosphere. Do you know any others?

takeawalkinhell I think the album Athenian Echoes by NIGHTFALL fits very well in this mold...Amazing album! Another one I highly recommend is GATES OF ISHTAR - Dawn of Flames.

Guitars work is incredible.
To me, this is the best Melodic Black Metal album ever, especially Cries from a Restless Soul. And i love Dissection, Vinterland and whatever, i really do! But this full length hits on a different level

Sacramentum..Saw a flyer of this record back in 90´s and listened to them in a compilation and enjoyed their "different" "melodic" atmosphere and this album really meant something in underground.
They just released a statement on Instagram that they will be releasing a new album called shadow of oblivion, a follow up to this album.. I couldn't be more excited
@z k coming of chaos was the album they released after this one, but they were saying in the announcement that their new album is going to be closer in sound to far away from the sun. (A follow up as far as the sound goes not the chronology)

This is a classic in the black metal community, it's not underrated at all.
It is underrated by people woh worship Ghost and Justin Bieber, not the true fans of black metal.

One of the most creative approaches to writing Metal as a whole. Reminds me of Storm of the Light's Bane, At the Gates Debut and Opeth's Orchid but for me it's above those two

Just discovered this band a few minutes ago.Surprising since I am an old fucker who was playing this kind of shit in the late 80s-early 90s.Glad I found this one,this album kicks ass.Now I want to go find eveything else they did.

@@ianswift3521 it was absolutely amazing. On point, evoked the spirit of the past, energetic crowd and 2 (or was it three 🤔) songs from the later albums. Crowd was very energetic too.

This is honestly the best black metal album with the Finis Malorum ep from them if u can count, Storm of the Lights Bane and the first Abigor releases, this a level above other bands in creativity of every single drum hit or guitar combinations, best black metal u can get!
This album is astounding
Used to listen it on my way to school 3 years ago. Was so full of hate in my heart because of that piece of shit system and i must say Sacramentum really kept me sane throughout those awful years. I was indeed Far Away from the Sun in that "intellectual prison"...

Naglfar's Vittra and Noctes' Pandemonic Requiem also well worth checking out. Maybe not quite in the same league as the aforementioned but certainly worth an hour or two of your time.
