This place is unapologetically weird yet magical. Glad it wasn’t too badly damaged.
I am fortunate to live less than an hour away from the house on the rock. I’ve only lived in Wisconsin since 2019 but I have been to the The house on the rock 7 times. Every time a new person visits me I always make it a point to bring them there. Each visit I always see something that a missed the times before. It seems to get more and more unhinged the further into the labyrinth you go. Feels like a descent into madness by the time you reach the third section. A truly surreal experience.
just expect you will be there all day 🤣
Saw Fire at House on the Rock and about had a heart attack, glad it was under control - phew. This is my all-time favorite roadside attraction in the USA, it’s like walking into a bizarre dream world.
I completely agree! I saw fire in the title and panicked a little. Glad it wasn't massively harmed.... It would be a great loss for this awesome attraction to go away.
Like a fever dream! LOL
@@lizjacobsen1600 Haha exactly
I LOVE the self plying instruments!😊❤
I agree! I also saw the title and went "NO!" Glad they got to it in time.
OMG !!! this is the most beautiful carousel I have ever seen!!! WHO NEEDS TO TRAVEL, JUST WATCH JACOB AND JEN !!!❤❤😂
This is my HAPPY PLACE, man! I'm so happy to see you back!
I hear ya man! Whenever I I need a pick me up video, I go to HOUSE ON THE ROCK and anything else The Carpetbagger puts up.
I love House on the Rock. The carousel room is absolutely breathtaking!
No way! You posted this video on the same day I went to visit House on the Rock for myself with a group of friends! My friend’s boyfriend proposed to her in front of the carousel yesterday. ☺️
Congrats on 500K!! 🎉
Jacob, thank you. I’ve been here several times. The first time was many years ago when my family and I were coming back from a camping vacation when I was a very young. It was free, and the only thing there was the original house. You could walk through at your own pace. They had Martin Denny music that was playing as you walked through “Quit Village Album”. It was so amazing. I’ve watched this place grow through the years, but I’ll never forget that first time.
Absolutely one of the greatest roadside attractions of all time. More specifcally, the Organ Room might be my favorite room of all time. I need to get back there as soon as possible.
Unbelievable place! Holy crap.. Have to visit that in person. Thanks, Jacob!
My wife and I spent 5 hours walking through The House On The Rock, and we still feel like we didn't get to see everything. I'm amazed that you were able to cram so much within an hour video. This place is awesome and amazing.
I never grow tired of watching you tour this place. It's amazing every single time. I've only been to the Dells once in my life and had no idea this place existed. If I ever find myself back there again I have to go and see this.
I’m very happy that they were able to put the fire out keep House on the Rock alive. Hope you have fun Jacob and Jenn!
ive been here 3 times so far. best time with my grandparents, i miss my grandma so much. one of my favourite places to go. plus its relatively close since im in Illinois. one of the best memories i have.
Hi from England, OMGosh the most amazing roadside attraction, the carousel room was beautiful
Out of all the places you have gone, this destination for me is the best. I remember the first time you filmed here, and I literally had dreams about it. I was transcended and mesmerized by absolutely everything. The way you carefully went through every part with your quiet narration is one of the things that made me come to appreciate this channel!! I'm so glad you made it back here!!
I'm very happy that they were able to get the fire put out quickly so there wasn't more damage.
A STEAMPUNK HEARSE .. Greatest thing I've ever seen.
My husband and I love the House on the Rock. I've been there three times myself. Thank you so much for this video. This brought back so many memories. 💝
38:59 Such an impressive CAROUSEL 🎠 🎠 🎠 -in an extraordinary place!
It is hard to convey how big and how much stuff there is to see and what it’s like, now there is UA-cam so you can get an idea of it. We arrived in the morning, ate lunch there and when we left our car was among the last in the parking lot(s), and the vehicles and airplanes section was not open yet. Was tons of other visitors also so it looks like you went at a good time. It is overwhelming and like a fever dream.
Like Jenn said, House on the Rock is definitely bucket list worthy.
ha! just said to my mom "if I had a bucket list of destinations, house on the rock is #1" there is just something about it... blows my mind!
I enjoyed every minute of this episode! The house on the rock is so big and involved that you could probably make a two or three hour video, and I would watch the whole thing.
Still impressive they keep all those musical instruments working, that is 1 special museum, looks really amazing.
Hello Carpetbagger and Jenn,
The House on the Rock is a massive display of creativity, musicianship and engineering. Thank you for your excellent camera work and narration.
I'm happy you have stopped here again. Amazing attraction.
I have been to House On the Rock several times since the early 80’s. I love it. It has been amazing how much the complex has grown over the years.
I'm from the south so I have never been to house on the rocks, didn't know nothing about it until I saw it on Jacob video few years ago. Looks something lol
these are the only videos of yours i refuse to watch, but just until i return to house on the rock. i went as a kid and it blew me away, but i keep just missing opportunities to return. but it's important enough that i want a fresh view of the place. i look forward to watching these in bulk the evening of the day i go back, heh.
I agree with you, that this is one of the best attractions! And the emotions that come with it. The first time was 50 years ago and this place still amazes me. Thank you Jacob and Jen for a wonderful video! 💕
Just wanted to say thank you Jacob and Jen. This by far the best video ever of the house on the rock. One of my favorite places to visit. Love all your awesome videos!
There are so many different things happening at this attraction! Wow! Thanks for sharing!
I've known about this place for 40 years...but only went there 2 years ago. I was SHOCKED! Just keeping all the light bulbs replaced, when they burn out, is a monumental feat. And I didn't see ONE burned out!
Kudos to you for admitting you wept being overwhelmed with positive emotion. This needs to be normalized.
🔥
This place is awesome. I would love to go there one day. Those music rooms and that carousel were amazing.
if you every do, you almost need 2 days just to see everything
Lived in Wisconsin my entire 57 years and only live 42 miles from the house on the rock. Have been by it 100s of times but have only been there once back in the mid 80s. Beautiful place but now at 57 years old I'm disabled and unable to walk only a very short distance
yeah, i have heard a lot about this place, but never knew what it was until now. thanks a lot for giving a full tour! truly one of the most unique roadside attractions i ever seen. :)
I always understood that dalmatians were originally used because they were great with the horses that pulled the firepump carts, often leading the way and calming the horses. I've had several dalmatians and none of them were deaf. Glad Jen got to see House on the Rock! It's totally amazing and at the top of my favorites list. Thanks for another wonderful adventure!
Yeah whoever told him that are full of it. I'm a former vet tech. I've never heard that in my life. Also owned dalmatians none were deaf. Lol
This was my understanding about the dalmatians being good with the horses.
Thank you so much for going back. I was there as a kid and it’s one of my favorite places. It’s a magical place.
Oh! I love House on a Rock! I had forgotten about it. I've never seen it live, only in your videos. So great that Jenn got to visit as well! 😀
Thank you, I was there as a child and wanted to see it again but no way could I walk it now. Thank you again.
now that's a epic carpetbagger adventure!
The blue symphony room was the one that had me weeping while visiting this magical place! Definitely need a return trip.
This place was incredible.
That was wild to see .I really enjoy looking and the strange and unusual . I hope you can come back when the music in the Circus is fixed I love the Circus !
Thanks for getting a good shot of Dracula's carriage. 27:14 It's my favorite thing at HOTR.
Very cool place to visit! Great stream! Good to see Jen back and feeling better. 🐋 Interesting, that whale having teeth, when that species doesn't really have teeth. But it is a cool sculpture. Like the old shops as well. The Michigan Historical Museum has that as well, along with depictions of homes of the 50's, etc. we'd love to have you visit. 😊
That whale bothered me SO MUCH, lol. I'm glad somebody else noticed it. It broke my brain seeing a baleen whale with teeth!
I'm hoping to come here in person one day. I'm really glad Jenn was able to experience this with you. I'm always blown away by the whale and carousel.
love when you two are together ❤ glad everyone is healthy and happy ❤
Hello Jacob and Jenn Awesome Video Thank you!
I really loved The House on the Rock. Thank you for the journey and Jen is so sweet. I love her energy with you. She is fun and that place is awesome!! 😊
I think it looks awesome. So glad you and Jenn got to check up on it after the fire. Thank you both.
Wow Jacob that was the best attraction you have taken me to. Thank you so much. That was brilliant. We have nothing like the places you take us to in the uk. So keep up the good work, how will you top that? I am sure you will beast wishes to you and Jen. Bev UK 🇬🇧
Jason The mythical beast You mentioned on the carousel the lion with the eagle head is called a Griffon. I think the two children with their heads in the oven are perhaps Hansel and Gretel? My father worked at National Cash Register (NCR) when I was a child. I have also been to the Henry Ford Museum and Frontier Village loved both museums. Thank you for taking us through the museum I have never been and due to a run in with stupid cancer can not in the future. I appreciate this very, very much! Thanks to Jen for letting us tag along on her date with you too ❤
Wow. What a place! Thanks Carpet Bagger and Jen.
I love that that ocean it just constantly has Octopus's Garden playing, I love that song lol
YES-! I went to the House On the Rock last year and I loved it!
Went there last year. I started raining lightly in the morning. By late morning we were I the third section and we could hear the rain on the metal roof. There is a large steam tractor in the airplane section and there was a lot leaking with buckets on floor. Then we discovered several other leaks. One was in amongst the 32’ wood diaphones in the organ room. There is an emergency exit behind some of the pipes and the water was dripping down and the carpet was wet😢.
That was awesome.Thankyou🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh thank God they got the fire under control. I love this place, seeing it through your visits over the years
This house has Oriental mixed with Old American West vibes to me!!! There was a roadside attractions near Daytona Beach, Florida that was an Oriental Dunkin Gardens Village we used to go to in the 1970's on our family vacations that had this same look n vibe that it, VERY calming n mood enhancing!!!
Sunken NOT Dunkin like the computer changed it to!!!;Sorry!!
I honestly love collections. So impressive to see all these items. After all everything has a importance and gives a view to the past. I wish i could see this with my own eyes one day
Wow, what a helluva house! And it’s a 5-6 hour tour?! Glad to see a lot of ramps, so we could get around easier, then if it were all stairs. I LOVE the self playing instruments, I’d sit there all day! Thank you Jacob and Jenny!!❤😊
I've never seen anything like this! I can't say how many times I said OMG!
What a wonderful place in Wisconsin.
Who knew?!
Thank you
This is my place to go out of every roadside attraction. Maybe I will be blessed enough to go one day! 💜💜💜
That steam engine hearse is amazing.
I vaguely recall visiting the House on the Rock as a child. I remember that the adults seemed to enjoy it, but I did not. Couldn't remember why before watching this video. Now I can take an educated guess that all the noise probably had me in sensory overwhelm and fighting off a meltdown the entire time! I wouldn't have been "allowed" to complain, either, because my grandmother was on that trip with us, and she had trouble walking due to having polio when she was a child, so if she could suck it up and do all that walking without complaint, my brother and I sure couldn't complain about anything ourselves. Glad I can see it through your videos where I can control the volume, because I don't think I'd be able to enjoy that place in person.
I like watching from afar. Visiting, not so much. What I said. It's too much! Brought my kids a couple years ago (all teenagers). They were torchured. Got migraines. My son got sick later in our hotel room because the migraine. All my kids talk about now is how horrible that trip was and they never want to go back lol.
Just spent most of my Saturday with my family at the House on the Rock! We came home and immediately watched your last video on it. Love to see you revisiting so soon after us.
We even got some pressed pennies in honor of you!
WOW ...What an amazing place never seen anything like it in all my life truly beautiful what a place to visit thank you for sharing this .
That's a pretty cool place
The house on the rock is insanely beautiful and amazing! I can see why he did the architecture the way he did it. It infinitely bridge……..wow!!❤😊
I was about to have a heart attack becayse i thought it was about your house on fire. Glad to hear it qasn't and that thisplaces fire got under control!❤
This is an enormous work of art; truly a national treasure. Thanks for showing it off, this is going on my bucket list.
Good Morning Jacob and Jennifer 🙋🏽.
Lived in Milwaukee all my life, 47 years... never been there. But I took a week off work coming up, and I'm going to take a day trip there!
9:30 I laughed when Jenn said she doesn’t know where to look & a little kid said in the background “Right there” 😂
I am so grateful that the Circus band wagon didn't take on more damage. They are working to get parts of it working soon! This exhibit has been silent as well in 2019 but was restored by early 2020 by the time of the COVID pandemic and therefore some issues went unaddressed. Just to clarify the fire was unrelated to any of this that wasn't addressed. I know this exhibit will be back in operation in the future but could take time as there is likely electrical things they must address to get it back running! There are other music machines too that are on the repair list like the Franz Josef. They are putting time aside to maintaining their treasures! They now have a really good repair guy on call for fixing the music machines! They want to get them all back running in time!
Greetings from Poteet Texas. That was amazing.thank you for showing it to me.
The video you did on this attraction two years ago is the how I discovered your channel and why I'm a subscriber 😊 this place is magical. I'm glad the fire didn't destroy all of it.
Imagine how all them dolls haveing spirits attached to them 😂
Definitely going to be on my vacation trip im really wanting to ride there by train so cool thanks for showing this Jacob you and Jenn have fun safe time. ❤
That place is beautiful
I'm literally going there in a few days, saw the title and my heart sank a bit lol Glad it's still in good shape!
It was absolutely amazing!.the carousel was one of my favorites.
This video is like a movie it's soo long 😊 lol might as well get some popcorn 🍿
LOL at the doll Sylvia Plath reference. 😎
0o o0 00 WOW!!!! I've visited The House On The Rock with my dad, stepmom ( Before she died of bone cancer ), my younger brother, and brother's wife years ago.
I was there when it caught fire. Traveled all the way from Tennessee to see it and could only see 2/3 of it. Ugh. I'm so glad the damage was kept at a minimum.
They've added stuff since my wife and I went. A good reason to go back!
When I went there as a kid I called it rock on the house.
Yes! I’m glad this placed had such a magical affect on you and now Jen, too, to give it such a high attraction rating-especially considering all your travels and experiences; I don’t get to visit attractions often but when I lived in St Paul I’d drive over to The House for a treat on occasion which brought goosebumps each visit and I find it validating you found it special, too! Cheers. PS You were a hardy brave soul attending California State Fair-that was a record-breaking heat wave.
Great video. Brings back memories. I describe the place as a delightful fever dream.
I've never been to the House on the Rock, except vicariously through you, Jacob, and was crushed to hear about the fire! But I'm so glad you were able to get there and show us all, first hand, how wonderfully the place came through and how its even grander than ever!
And that carousel!!! Its about a year late, but what a capper to the 2023 Summer of Carousels!!! I'm so very happy to have been watching you for so long. I've found I don't have the guts you have to do what you do, but I sure love seeing you go there!
AND CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN on 500,000 SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!
Kudos to your UA-cam Channel, Jacob! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love all your vids., Jacob!!! Especially the ones with Jenn!!!!
Whenever I hear about this place I keep flashing back to American Gods. That book made me really want to visit.
WOW!! I always love your videos, but this place is amazing.. Thank you for sharing!!❤❤
Hi both I love when you last visited this place..!!! Thank goodness It was all o.k This Is a truly fantastic place XXXX
Wow this place is really cool
We took a trip out here one day and we loved it! It just so fascinating to see this wonder!
Great place! Never been but looks interesting! Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
I actually visited the house on the rock for the first time 2 weekends ago from today after the fire and wasn't aware of the fire until this video. The object where you mentioned where the fire occurred and got damaged, I thought it was some sort of art piece similar to compete with the Transformers. Now I understand what happened. I was on my way to Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and Denver Colorado to visit my cousins in Denver Colorado and went out of my way for sightseeing.
