    My first pocket knife was a multi blade Kbar purchased with lawn cutting cash. Carried every day, and every where including school (this was years ago) until I foolishly used the blade as a pry bar and broke it. I still have the knife in my “memories “ box. Thanks for the video.

    • @Timmayytoo
      @Timmayytoo 3 роки тому +1

      I've been doing the opposite - getting into Spyderco after buying quite a few CIVIVI, and I love them both. I recently picked up a few CJRBs as well, and while they are a little uneven in their designs, they make quality knives. One thing I really appreciate about CIVIVI is the wide use of hollow-ground blades and the general quality of their edge grinds. Edge grinds are an area where Spyderco has been a little inconsistent for me so far - nothing terrible, but I'd like to see some better symmetry to the grinds... not that that issue is exclusive to Spyderco. Geez, I talk too much...

      @@Timmayytoo I haven’t noticed asymmetry with the blade grinds but maybe I’ve gotten some on the upper end of the standard of deviation. I recently was able to get the BHQ exclusive pm2 tanto and it’s beauty in hand is truly like holding an astronaut’s knife. To be honest I’m haven’t held too many other brands in hand. I’ve held Benchmades and Some WE and even some Chris reeves but I still loved my original pm2 for so many reasons.I would love to make it out to a legitimate knife store and really try out the actions. For Cold Steel, the Talon 2 and Thompson voyager, serrated, shall reign among my favorites of all time. The Spartan is probably my 3rd in terms of Cold Steel. Viper's Boris Manasherov Magà is an all time favorite, and he produced my favorite Bokers, both karambits, the Toro, and Ocelot. Neither for sale in the US, and Toro was discontinued. The Magà is a larger, non karambit version of the Toro, sheer brilliance. The Viper Italo in G10 is also brilliant, and a fat slab of excellent M390.at around $100. Both light, serious EDC pieces. Kershaw's Bareknuckle is my favorite Kershaw, love my 20CV. Otherwise, the D2 CQCs and Knockout are excellent. The Link in 20CV is a champ, and I do love the Bler, mine is CPM-M4 DLC however. The subframe lock, butter action and 3.5" blade, with an excellent, sleek, smart shape of the blade gives the ribbon to the Bareknuckle. Bless SOG for bringing back XHP, and in a major way. Spyderco's dynamic and constant expansion in terms of blade steel options is a spirit I wish we'd see a lot more of with other brands

      Curious to hear more. I love my pm2 in maxamet, and do not find it in any need to be shrunk or made smaller or anything. Especially as pm2 handle feels already snug in my large hands; while last time I tried pm3 it felt downright cramped - unless you 'choke' the blade every time...

      Para 3 is just a smaller para 2, so if you like bigger knives i don't know why you prefer the para 3

      @@buckeyesbengalsreds3125 - In this world, you always get what you pay, so, do not expect much from bottom shelf cheapo drivel.
      Re. a starter knife?? I personally always preferred quality over quantity - because I still think it is better to own one properly expensive excellent knife than five cheapo dung knives, methink; So if I were you, I would get not any manix2, but manix2 in maxamet, which the best iteration of it. If even the miserable $210 is too pricey for you - then you need not advice but pity...

    I'd say the maxamet manix 2 lw for Spyderco. It covers all the bases, ergonomic, light, slicy, crazy steel.

    Good video
    Id make mention to all the companies to go to t8 instead of strippy t6 and throw a few replacement screws in as they are overseas and near impossible to replace domestically for a given knife.

    You are totally right regarding the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. (Especially with also the Benchmade 940 in your drawer.)
    But
    (And you knew, that there is always a "but")
    But for a few months I have now the smaller Spyderco Paramilitary 3. And I must say that the Para 3 just easily blows away all other knives. I even just bought a second Para 3. Just because it has blue handles. And I am a cool blood german near Solingen. These people would NEVER(!!!) buy the same knife again just because of a beauty feature.

    David, is the Buck a single or double-action auto? That is, when closed can you open the blade manually without pushing the launch button? I have an old 110 double-action auto conversion, but it’s 420 HC and I’d like to get the new steel, thanks!
    BTW, on the Kizer have to go with the Ursa Minor. Same handle as that Gemini, but with blue accents, and a clip point blade. Same Laconico design.
    P.S. Love that Pintail BTW, and can’t believe the price. I’ve paid more for D2 steel.

      I think the best Opinel EDC is the No. 8 “Garden”. Drop point/Spear point with the “Slimline” handle that’s not so bulky & uncomfortable as the standard ‘fishtail’ in the pocket. Love that thing 👍🔪
