Its horrible people are condemning the contractors for not having cameras, but, the question is that ,are we normal at all in Nigeria? This thing is supposed to preserve people's life and some unscrupulous people think they're smart to steal it,they're are same like Boko Haram or IPOB enforcers that are killing people all over the place,if they're caught, should be sentenced to a long jail term. We have lost all sense of decency in Nigeria.
CCTV as a security measure should be a part and parcel of the bridge construction. By so doing those who try to tamper with the bridge can be easily captured and fished out.
Steel is expensive and people are poor. It's inevitable that this sort of thing will keep happening. It's the same reason people cut railways and cause derailments. We need a domestic steel plant to flood the market and make the stuff cheap. We need to fix Ajaokuta.
So in your own view poor people should now start to vandalize every steel structure wherever they can find one, because they are hungry and poor right ?. God will help us in Nigeria.
They should use plastic or tyre/rubber design for the plate,it will actually absorb shocks better than all this metal. Nigeria is a tropical country,it doesn't get that hot to melt plastic,it rains often and cool things down..
Its the hand work of those scavengers going about looking for condemned iron. They are mostly people from Ebonyi state and housas from the northern part of the country
Is Nigeria the only country were there is hunger ,go to india Haiti and many older countries even in Ghana but the people in this countries are more civilised and knows what benefits the people and what benefits an individual, so am asking will the metal they have stolen solve their problems?is like some people want to justify what they done with hunger if so nobody will sleep in Nigeria because there's hunger in the land ,you ask for development and you vandalize it stupidity at the highest level 2:43
This countries you make here, yes there's hunger there but for more than then foot stuff will be at the same price, go to country like Indonesia for more than 8 years now, the same amount there selling rice is the same amount their still selling it today, but from 2015 food stuff has increased to more than 100%, so please don't compare Nigeria with any country in the world
When Ethiopians were dying in thire thousands from starvation, no one distroyed bridges, light poles or any public infrastructure. Hungry people have no energy to go about vandalising publicly property.
Let them remove all because they are hungry what a country the essence of that steel is to protect lives but because of hunger instead of looking for a job to do .
Vandalize spokesperson, so if they are not provided food they will continue to vandalize steel everywhere. Well tell them the instrument of law will cash up with the Vander very soon.
