  • Well it turns out that the unit is repairable - Probably faster than I actually did - Learnings? Reset the calibration constants and then start checking your equipment.

    Interesting. A theory I would say as to what happened could be a tech accidentally entering in the correct sequence of buttons to go into cal constants edit mode. That sheet of paper is very handy. When 1st cleaning out the unit, my first act was to take pictures of the constants so if something degrades the paper, I still have them on hand.
    On a side note, I had released a disk image file of the HP cal. & attenuator software for all 834xx syn. sweepers on the HP/Agilent yahoo group about a month ago. The software requires the cal data on this sheet along with equipment, from the same manufacturing time, to run properly.

      Thanks - I scanned the sheet right when I found this so hopefully it'll stay around. I still have a slight bump in the units output around what seems to be a multiple of the internal 3.7Ghz oscillator but I haven't had a chance to get back into it and try the adjustments again.
