  • CAUTION VERY HOT HANDLE WITH CARE.
The best way to remove the tyres from X-Maxx rims.
Set oven to 170c or 340f or Gas mark 3.
Bake for 17 minutes with the face side up, when done turn over and bake for 10 minutes.
USE glove’s or a big towel as steam will come out the rims if your foams are wet and is super heated.
Watch all of the video and i’ll show you how to make new foams for pennies or Nickel’s.
To work out foam sizes use this formula:
    Rim diameter 4.3” X 1.5 x 3.142 = 20.27”
To convert to MM x 25.4mm so you should have this:
    4.3 x 25.4 = 109.22mm X 1.5 = 163.83mm X 3.142 = 514.75mm.
The width you you need is 3.75” or 95.25mm
This will give you the right size but i cut mine just a little bit bigger.
Cut the foam with a Serrated knife, if you use scissor’s the foam doesn’t cut straight and will be imbalanced.

Thanks a lot, this is maybe the best tutorial on how to rebuild an xmaxx tire. I now personally have an issue with just the foam inside so I'll just replace it following your steps! Thanks again!

Thanks Drew, I did add some rings of foam to the tyres to support the side walls better because of the offset on the Xmaxx wheels, and left the foams the same width it’s made the tyres a little bit stiffer and seem to work quite well, time will tell. 👍 PS the wheel weights were within 15 grams of each other so shouldn’t make to much difference.

Why not acetone? I just put 1 inch of acetone in a 5 gallon bucket, put coffee can in bucket, put the tires on the can, seal up the bucket. Don't submerge the tires! 24 hours later the glue is GONE. I hate the smell of baked tires in my house. It does take longer, but the tires fall off, and no sandpaper needed.

I use 522 Pro tire glue, I just put on tires nice and snug, then open tire at the top put glue in and let it round, check all ares and apply more if needed.
This stuff dry’s so quick it will stick your fingers to the tire if not careful 😂
