Strong performance, Simon (along with very valuable instruction!) ... good job, and a nice advertisement for your English course considering how well you scored with it. Thank you for uploading it.
The Chinese and Russians are so good because they are not distracted by trivial things like freedom, at 5 years old they are shut into a dark room where they are fed cabbage everyday and can't come out until they are a GM.
in the botvinnik, why do you wait so long to play e4? why not play 1. c4 2. Nc3 3. e4? is there something specific you're looking from black before you commit?
1:45:13 "d6 is just not the best move order here" It is the move you suggest in The Killer Dutch Rebooted (with an exclam): 1. c4 f5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. g3 d6! 4. d4! e6 5. Bg2 Be7 6. e4 fxe4 7. Nxe4 0-0 8. Ne2 transposes to this game. Here your theory gives 8. ... e5 to avoid the problems you just faced. However, the resulting position still looks better for White and I've also been wondering, if the 3. ... d6 move order is really the best option. It kind of forces 4. d4, but is that necessary and worth these slightly worse positions? The alternative is to play 3. ... e6 and allow White to play setups with d3 a tempo up, because Black will eventually play e5 in two moves. So after some consideration, do you have a good solution that is in harmony with the rest of the repertoire?
@@GingerGM 3. ... e6 only transposes to the repertoire after 4. d4. If White plays an english setup with 4. d3, he's just a tempo up in every line you give in that chapter. Considering that White was already slightly better in those lines, I don't fancy making things even worse.
You know I bought chess courses from your site while back, but it was a friend of yours course. I think I need to get one of yours soon. I am good at my e4 repertoire, scotch, smith morra gambit, but I think it's only solid when my opponent is lower rated. Which is gingergms best course to push me past 1700 rating? I'm spinning my wheels here. I'm not a baby anymore. I'm ready!
Me while watching the accelerate your chess dvd: this calculation stuff is hard. Let’s play some bullet. I do really like the course, but I am only like a 1200.
Same here, only 1300 rated. I purchased the Accelerate series more to support Ginger GM than anything else, but I enjoy the opportunity to improve as well.
Good performance with the English, but, against 1...e6, Simon did not followed his own course recommendation (2.e4) and transposed directly to QGD positions. To my (and my computer's eyes) 2.e4 is rather dubious after 1.c4 e6. It would be quite interesting seeing him playing 1.c4 e6 2.e4 against strong opposition here.
This English opening is very magical man. E4 has been my baby for a long time, and then I was trying d4 but hate how slow it seems to be. The english may just be what is needed.
First Simon exposed my Modern-move-order Philidor to the world, now he's going to make my Botvinnik Formation popular. I'm starting to feel personally attacked...
That was a very strong performance. Bravo, Simon! That one game where you stayed away from an English opening was the most entertaining though :-) Thank you for these videos, you rock.
@@GingerGM ok but describe the English like is it tactical or positional does it favour Bishops or Knights do we have any weak pawns I have noticed that our d3 pawn and d4 square are weak so how to overcome that who is better if the position gets converted into an endgame

"Now we can play someone really good" after beating a 2900...
😏
Simon, this has to be your be best performance yet on titled Tuesday? beating these dossers like it's nothing :D
He made 7,5 points a couple of times
@@marcota9461 yeah, but he was beating 2800s and 2900s here, can't recall him doing it before
It was a good performance, just felt to play some decent chess. :)
Not only did the Iron English win two games against 2900 players you were beaten with an English !
True
It works!
Waiting for the short and sweet free version

Best chess of the week. That Botvinnik English is a lethal weapon in your hands!
It is a great opening!
I think you played really good this Titled Tuesday Simon!! :) Many interesting games! Cheers

1:35:54 "Can we claim this as an English win?" - well, you did have 3 c pawns
This episode of GingerGm brought to you by chessable. Incredible product placement, sir!
If I had lost every game in the English it would have been bad man!
@@GingerGM already started the s&s version!
That game with GM Bogdan was awesome, crushing!
Cheers
This many people want Simon to make a 'beating the Sicilian course'

Good question. Clearly, 8...e5 is much better than what I played. The other option is to just play 3...e6.

I would say 'Master Method' 1 is a good course for general improvement. But depends what you want. :)

Yeah. It feels really good when I find the right plan or combination though.
I'm around 1800 otb and I find the course quite difficult (too difficult) at times, even. Good luck getting through it haha
Impossible to calculate in bullet chess...

Yeah I will have to give that a go. I just wanted to play something more aggressive in one game! MVL is an expert in this line.
Great content again! And a great score against really good opposition.
How you do this picture-background?Where can i get this.
I am definitely buying it.
I think, Simon, you are rather positional than tactical player

It is great -- opening, but it does require some dedication (like any opening) to learn.
great Simon \o/ Cheers from Chile :)
Hello to Chile!
Simon I think you will slowly cross 3000 and 1 day become a world champion!
This bird was hungry
Simon rating is climbing. 2681 !
My rating jumps so much...
Hey Simon, isn't it time you took your revenge against GM Benjamin Finegold? Love the vids!
It would be nice to have one punt at him.
@@GingerGM haha yes of course
so Simon drinks and rocks out to Maiden?
I appreciate you Simon. I hope you are doing well sir. Thank you for the content.
All good Brad, I am glad that you're enjoying the content.
At 1:20 Simon misses an easy win: 13...fxg3 14.hxg3 (14.fxg3 e4 wins a piece because the f3-kngiht is pinned) 14...Rf5 followed by ...Rh5.
Yes that would have certainly been better...
Do you like metal songs?

can you make your iron english course in the 90s it is too expensive
I do not set the price of the courses. You will need to speak to Chessable I am afraid!

3 games in and Simon is on FIRE! But works starts... :(
