Dividing Grace Dunn

This video shows how to divide and repot Catasetum alliance plants. It also shows a lot of the cultural methods that I used with Clowesia Grace Dunn 'Looking Glass' that received a 92 CCE/AOS in January this year. Hope you enjoy it.

Should you divide a catasetum with only 4 bulbs if it’s climbing out of the pot? I’ve got one bulb buried deeply in the media and one that the base of the bulb is about 4” above the media

Hi Wade, I have just acquired a Fredclarkeara after Dark SVO Black Cherry, which has one bulb and two new growths one of which is showing its new roots. When I repot, do I add osmocote fertiliser now, or later once the roots are established? Great video and thank you.

Hi Wade. It was hard to be sure but it looked like you potted that division at a depth that had the new growths just below the surface of the media. Is that correct? I seem to be often challenged with this type of issue and tend to pot things too deeply. Thanks.

My catasetum orchid is growing the. New bulb out of the medium about 1.5inches up on the side of the older growth. Should I separate the two before the roots get longer (now 1” to1.25”)

Hello, Wade! I have Grace Dunn, just one bulb, but it is still in dormancy from last spring.... Could you say why it did not awake? Still in moss as i potted it last year, looking good, i even did not water it.... Have not too much light....all year around 20-26... How to push this plant for growing a new growth? Is Grace dunn an especie?

Clowesia Grace Dunn is what is called a primary hybrid, meaning a hybrid between 2 species. In this case it is Cl. warczewitzii X rosea.
