Mussenden Temple and Downhill Beach, Northern Ireland

Hello everyone,
Today, we will be taking you to one of the beautiful destinations in Northern Ireland- Mussenden Temple and Downhill Beach in Castlerock, Londonderry. Mussenden Temple is an iconic landmark, perched right on the cliff edge at Downhill Demesne. It’s one of the most photographed places in Ireland. The Mussenden Temple was built in around 1783 by the Earl Bishop and designed by the architect Michael Shanahan and the design was based on the Temple of Vesta in Italy.
Downhill Beach is part of a 7 mile stretch of sand and surf offering a wealth of activities including water sports, scenic walks and facilities for that perfect family day out. Cars are permitted on this beach throughout the year but need to be wary as the beach contains soft sand.
