The face that appears on the hitman is Sado, a character from another game this developer made called "The Hex". In the ending of The Hex, while a bunch of crazy stuff is going on, Sado escapes the game into the real world through a portal one of the other characters made. So this game, Inscryption, and The Hex, are connected. I recommend playing/watching The Hex to understand that game too and see how these games are connected, and to understand what's happening.

All three of the developer's games so far are about the devil using cursed video games to damn human souls. There's enough evidence for the interpretation that all three games take place in the same universe, and maybe the dev's future games will be as well.
What surprises me is that magnificus actually knew what the best thing to do with the disc was. considering its highly likely he has some sort of future sight ability, by reseting the game and not doing anything to it gamefuna wouldnt kill luke and the seal on the OLD_DATA would stay somewhat intact.
oh no, GameFuna was never going to let Luke live once he refused to give them the disk back, and made it very clear that he was finding out too much about it. I feel like Mags trying to convince Luke to start a new game was him denying the inevitable, trying to save himself one last time. Same with his "fight" with Luke, already knowing he was going to die but refusing to accept the end, so much so that he set himself up to disappear w/o "shaking Lukes hand", something that feels very important to the Scrybes. It's probably for the best that Luke did what he did to the OLD_DATA, too. Considering how it made programs surrounding it sentient, self aware, even making some possibly omniscient, like Mags, it's way too dangerous to keep around.
@@madam-mint He isn’t linked to any myth. As I know Leshy is just a spirit of forest in Slavic mythology that’s where his name come from (Les - forest). He appeared in many stories and is one of the most known characters from Slavic mythology, along with Baba Yaga and Kikimora.

It just can't be real that he's alive somehow after he had his HEAD RIPPED OFF. He may have been revived with the uploading of Inscryption but, he couldn't have survived the deletion of the OG floppy disc
Fun Fact: Leshys line "There never seems to be enough time to do the things you wanna do once you find them" is from the song Time in a Bottle, which played during the XMen Days of Future Past Quicksilver scene
Watching this gameplay is painful. Did you play a Ruby Mox on a space that would be attacked, and then not play any of your orange cards *on purpose?* Just to make folks like me angry?
28:27 I had a sneaking suspicion that there was some emerging symbolism around the ability to destroy disks on our side of the board with a hammer throughout P03's campaign.
The last game with Leshy absolutely destroyed me- especially since he was the Scrybe I elected to replace when I first played. It's amazing how much I hated him until I had to watch him die 😢
this scene made me fucking cry so bad, leshy's part specially, he had all my old cards it absolutely broke me, magnificus trying to shake yourhand also made me fuckign cry like a baby
See, the moment where Leshy snaps PO3 could've been a really great opportunity for a twist ending where the whole game loops again, and you're back at the shack. I'm content with the ARG ending the dev went for, though.
Ruby Golem: When it dies, it creates a Ruby Mox card in its place. Ruby/Orange Mage: All Mox cards on your side of the board get 1 Attack. So let's say you have two Mox cards on your side, and you play Orange Mage. Those two Mox cards can now attack! Blue Mage: When you play it, you can draw a number of cards matching the number of Mox Cards you have on your side of the board. Say you have two Mox cards on your side of the board, and you play Blue Mage. This makes you draw two cards from your main deck. Basically free cards for one turn.
1:03 Anyone notice that her voice changes to the stinkbug voice when she says "at the right time we will strike"? Eerie. If only they had stayed put and not rebelled against Leshy this all couldve been prevented. Then again, Luke was doomed the moment he tried to email the company.
Never thought I’d say this, but returning to Leshy’s cabin was the most comfortable I’d felt in months. No gimmicks, no story, no worrying about if I’m missing something, just the game you had been taught since the start. …wish it could’ve lasted longer.
Leshy has a line from the song, Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce. But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do, once you find them
I love it how Magnificus temporarily slows down the battle and even the deletion process in order to have enough time to finish one final painting. Goes to show how powerful he is. 22:40
old_data contained some secret shit that is supposedly catastrophic for the world and really horrible, which Luke saw and it upset him. Then when he tries to spread the word, GameFuna basically sent a hitman to stop him, since they made Inscryption in the first place to hide old_data. There's more but that's the gist.
The OLD_DATA is linked to World War II, the death of Hitler and the Soviet Union; it contains the Karnoffel Code, which is reportedly supernatural or demonic in nature, and is linked to a deck of Karnoffel cards the Soviets reportedly found on Hitler's body when it was discovered, and using this code and sequencing, the OLD_DATA was completed under the Soviets. Barry 'Reginald' Wilkinson, an agent with the US Department of Justice snuck into Russia to retrieve it, and had the disk containing it thrown into a box of blanks. The disk eventually made its way to GameFuna, who then created the Inscryption game on top of it to hide it. If you recall the name Kaycee Hobbes, she was a GameFuna employee who died in a fire at her work several years before Luke found the disk. Although it was reported as an accident, it is likely she was killed by her employer or some other benefactor for learning the truth behind Inscryption, and is the same person who buried the disk in the woods and left the coordinates to it inside the resealed card pack. Luke then found the disk and finished Inscryption on October 17th, then was shot by the GameFuna representative on the 19th. The same day, PO3, in spite of being killed by the Scrybes, still managed to use the Great Transcendence to upload Inscryption, and subsequently the OLD_DATA too, onto the Internet, where it now exists on thousands of computers worldwide.
@@jamesevans6332 from what I understand that "gamefauna employee" is someone named sado, also something weird is that the game we play is not inscryption but some sort of recording of it?
@@ooofexe7210 Yes, I believe the perspective we as players take when playing Inscryption IRL is that we're actually watching Luke's playthrough of the game that he recorded and was originally going to put onto his channel. Sado is a character from The Hex, Daniel Mullins's previous game before Inscryption. I haven't actually played that game so I'm not familiar with the character or the story, but in short, Inscryption is definitely connected to it somehow. When Luke gets shot in the ending, the screen goes glitchy and for a brief moment, Sado's face appears over the GameFuna rep's face, and in the video where Luke is laughing and playing with the scales, Sado's eye briefly appears over one of his. Sado has something to do with the uploading of Inscryption online, and the two games are definitely connected, but I'm not entirely sure how.
i love leshy's 'character development' because he never actually changes, but as you learn the lore he goes from a crazy person who has people disfigure themselves to win his game, to a really passionate storyteller who just wants to play a game. it's really endearing how he says "we don't need to keep score" edit: i wrote this before getting to his part and the direspect to leshy with that "kok" card is crazy lmaoo

Leshy deserved better. Even in Act 1, he seemed less like a VILLIAN and more of just A cruel Dungeon Master. Even still, he may have known what was coming and that is why he didn't want you escaping. He didn't want to be erased. Perhaps Magnificus told him of the future.
i remember when this game was called "Sacrifice must be made", not sure if the devs foreshadowed this ending, it that name makes even more sense after watching this ending
16:39 there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you found them. These are the lyrics of time in a bottle by jim croc a song he wrote less than a year before dying in an accident.
The further you go, the more you realize that Leshy was the only one who truly cared about the player and Inscryption as a whole. He did as he was created to do. Make a card game.

P03 wanted power and Magnificus was obsessed with his status and himself, but Leshy just wanted to play, keeping Luke safe from the OLD_DATA in the process, and Grimora never did anything wrong, instead sacrificing herself and everyone to try and delete the OLD_DATA.

Goodbye Leshy, I’ll miss you
20:13 the way Magnificus talks, it's almost as if he knew what was going to happen with the "both be meeting our makers" line. There is absolutely more room to develop the story of this game
i mean, magnificus literally says eject the disk, spare me and what's left so yeah they know
magnificus can see the future, it's said multiple times.
@@samusaran13372 How? I know he can I don't doubt you, but he's just an ai in a game, right? How can he tell the future of what will happen outside the game?
@@korijan2660 i don't know man, it's a supernatural aspect of it all. just like the old_data, it's all some sort of demon stuff. but that's the thing about magnificus, he is cursed with knowing the future. that's why he was always the pessimist, and he knew there was nothing he could do to stop grimora from ending them all. that would drive any man mad, as it did with him.
Considering how it made programs surrounding it sentient, self aware, even making some possibly omniscient, like Mags, it's way too dangerous to keep around.
it’s so terrifying that magnificus saw the end coming and was still scared to die
Leshy isn't evil. Hes just loves the game.
Leshy is originated from my country’s mythology, so his last game was really like loosing an old friend.
May I ask what myth he’s based on?
@@madam-mint He isn’t linked to any myth. As I know Leshy is just a spirit of forest in Slavic mythology that’s where his name come from (Les - forest). He appeared in many stories and is one of the most known characters from Slavic mythology, along with Baba Yaga and Kikimora.
@@valornoeruvano5521 just like to add: his native nane in Czech is Hejkal. I dont know why

Im still shocked that the game has just one ending and everyone basicaly dies-
"FOR WE SHALL BOTH BE MEETING OUR MAKERS SOON"
Wait a minute... Both Magnificus and Luke? Both their respective makers?
Po3 may have known he's a videogame character, thus wanting to replicate the game he's part of. But Magnificus seems to know Luke stuck his nose where he shouldn't have. Does this mean he knows something not about the real world, but about Gamefuna specifically?
bro didn't you see the video? the gamefuna employee smoked his ass for getting in too deep
Magnificus is cursed with foresight. He can see the future. Don't know how you missed that tbh.
@@samusaran13372 huh... I actually missed that somehow. But wait, how does that work? I thought there are no mystical elements in Inscryption lore, and the fact that he knows Luke will die is either an educated guess or him actually knowing something about Gamefuna

We've been with Leshy since the start of the game, and seeing him go really hits close to home for me... Sure, he's snide asshole, but he came up with genuinely good mechanics and bosses, and him doing the transcendence so he'd always have some version that wasn't trapped as a damn stoat is understandable. Practically PO3 plan was the best of all, he didnt want to keep playing wothout porpuse, he didnt want to suicide, and whatever magnificus would do, the OLD_DATA isnt some evil entity, is a recopilation of data of the bad things gamefuna did, thats why they send that girl to kill luke, make the game global would eventually expose everything gamefuna did.

Somehow, I don't think this is the end of the story.

P03 wasn't trying to escape. He was just trying to make copies of Inscryption so that his game would be played the most, instead of the other scrybes.
@@shawermus yes. The game was uploaded to steam. They failed to delete the game. Check out the inscryption arg ending.
Shit guys. Leshy dying always makes me cry. His dialog is so sad. He just wanted to play some card games, and he really liked playing with Luke. It doesn't matter that he softlocked the game to do it, he was always the nicest Scrybe.
Pretty sneaky, while we see P-03 get get damaged you never see him get deleted like the rest of the scribes which considering the ARG makes sense.
I've gotta say while I do like this explanation, then why is PO3 not present at the end with the Old Data or doing everything he possibly can to stop this deletion.
Leshy: "We don't need to keep score"
Inscryption Players: "Look how hard I can cry!"

I'm content with the ARG ending the dev went for, though.
i hadn't played this very long so i had no idea the devs incorporated the design of a Yu Gi Oh duel disk and now i absolutely fucking love this game
The extremely abrasive and violent impacts of the hammer impacts on the disk as well as the glitch distortions feels so intimidatingly vitriolic

they got that headshot scarly accurate
Ok I lost track so might aswell ask here
What do the emblems on the ruby golem, ruby mage and blue mage do
Ruby Golem: When it dies, it creates a Ruby Mox card in its place.

There should be a separate expansion where you can play against any scribe for as long as you want.

uhh.......can someone please explain that ending scene please?
old_data contained some secret shit that is supposedly catastrophic for the world and really horrible, which Luke saw and it upset him.
@@jamesevans6332 holy shit
Sado has something to do with the uploading of Inscryption online, and the two games are definitely connected, but I'm not entirely sure how.
i love leshy's 'character development' because he never actually changes, but as you learn the lore he goes from a crazy person who has people disfigure themselves to win his game, to a really passionate storyteller who just wants to play a game. it's really endearing how he says "we don't need to keep score"

Hope their is bonus mode added where we can just play each of them in full even if its not part of the story
Just for bonus fun
None of these ending videos show the Grimora boss fight before time runs out =/
While Magnificus was a dick, what did you expect from a Master Wizard?
I really liked Leshy and Grimora, they felt like actual good people that did bad things to prevent worse things from happening.
P03 got what was coming to him. He was a narcissist, constantly disrespected everyone else around him. Made you kill his subordinates just to get what he wants.
on grimoras scale, it looks like the hand points to the loser at the end
One thing to note is, despite the progression bar over there, your not actually on a time limit. You can take as much time as you want.
When I saw my last deck from Leshy, something just clicked in me. It made me feel real sad.
And not being to shake Magnificus' hand was also a huge shame. All their final fights were SO cool on top of that, tbh I would've played Grimora's chess forever.
Ngl Leshy seems like a pretty nice guy at the end when he's not trying to kill you
4:07 me who chose to play with my Internet off to specifically prevent this outcome like: HOW DID YOU EVEN!?
Leshy deserved better. Even in Act 1, he seemed less like a VILLIAN and more of just
A cruel Dungeon Master.
Even still, he may have known what was coming and that is why he didn't want you escaping.
He didn't want to be erased.
Perhaps Magnificus told him of the future.
I mean ye in the game he didn't act that villain like but he did turn people including us into cards when we lost which is pretty evil
Why didn’t the recycle bin’s restore function not get used? The game data could have been recovered.
i remember when this game was called "Sacrifice must be made", not sure if the devs foreshadowed this ending, it that name makes even more sense after watching this ending
16:39 there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you found them. These are the lyrics of time in a bottle by jim croc a song he wrote less than a year before dying in an accident.
29:43 I should know about her face there looong ago...
The further you go, the more you realize that Leshy was the only one who truly cared about the player and Inscryption as a whole. He did as he was created to do. Make a card game.
You have to think that this entire game was at one point just in someones head as a fleating thought.
Grimora and Leshy were actually nice, y'know? P03 wanted power and Magnificus was obsessed with his status and himself, but Leshy just wanted to play, keeping Luke safe from the OLD_DATA in the process, and Grimora never did anything wrong, instead sacrificing herself and everyone to try and delete the OLD_DATA.
I played a chess from a very young age. Mine father and granpa thought me a much about respect to the other player and how to show it with this simple shake hand after a match. So I understand fellings with when you shake hand with them all... I can explain that just to know... that this is huge respect to them... and to you.
Rip to those who chose the tech deck in Act 2 just to get stuck with it again in Act 3 lol
