Another great feature of the headlights: after taking them out you can open the lid of the lamp case and inside is a small latch that you can switch to adjust between left hand drive roads to right-hand drive roads. Whenever we drive from UK to Europe it is mandatory and we do this in the Eurotunnel train. Then just insert the lamps and clip back the front grille. 10 min job!. SBNLUK, Cairns is a city in Australia and a rock pile or pyramid on the side of the trail (according to Google). What do think is the connection to a blue color? Is there a brilliant relation behind it?
@@Vera_and_Christian Cairns is the gateway to the great barrier reef. I was there 25 years ago, diving. I associate the colour of the Pacific Ocean with Cairns Blue. A couple of points about the air suspension. First one for German readers! If you exceed 160kph for 5 secs the suspension lowers by 20mm and returns to normal if you go below 130kph for 30 secs. Second one saved my car when fording a deep river. It started to float at the back so the extended mode activated automatically. Then , holding the car on the brake I pressed the raise toggle for 3 secs and up it went some more. 4 wheels on the riverbed and out we came. It lowers at 5kph and looks ridiculously tall!
Richard Chandler, what an awesome point with the auto lower 20mm. Vera will read this here so She will know this when I ask her... But will she be able to demonstrate it? I will find out and put it in a vid at one point. Thanks.

I got none, except the one of the front and the light removal, which by chance I saw at a friends garage. All very interesting features which for me as a defender owner ( fuji white) are not to the point, but still nice to know, thanks folks.
GREAT video, I didn't know half of those answers, after 12 years of owning my Range Rover! I want to add one for the sunroof button , for those who have one. IF, the sunroof gets stuck or open (not fully closed), you can press and hold the Open/close button for about 10 seconds and it resets by itself in the correct position. And did you know, that is always a good idea to use the Hill Descent Control feature when going UPHILL? It will hold the vehicle at slow speed in case you have to go backwards, (i.e. use the reverse gear to manoeuvre the car). It's a great safety feature when you have to back out and make a second attempt on a hill for example, that most people don't use and end up rolling backwards and sometimes falling in the ditch or flipping over.
I used to work for Land Rover, so I got them all except for the last one. I never use the ones I knew. But, now that I know about the HDC speed control, I will use it all the time. If you do a video showing people HOW to diagnose the suspension leaks (show them which fuse, and walk them visually through the process...) It will be a hit! So many people just raise the suspension and never unplug the fuse, not knowing about the auto leveling program.
Good idea. Thanks. Ours actually cured itself. I use it every day because of my garage at work. In the Summer, I don’t drive it to work and then the air lift does not get used. Then it will leak a bit within a day. Once we cycle it daily this goes away. I think the valves need to see a bit of airflow to stay sealed.
@@Vera_and_Christian I agree that using it cures the problem. I have replaced my entire air suspension system including hoses and the compressor, if I let it sit for a few days it starts to leak.

There is a similar function on the windscreen wipers as the windows. This is so if the wipers freeze to the window you will not stress the wiper system. I learnt this the hard way on a very cold morning in Tasmania
Great video. Question - Do you know where the recovery hooks are? Answer- Front is under the panel in front of skid plate. Quarter turn plastic fasteners remove it. Back is behind small panel in bumper. Above tow hitch area. Panel used same quarter turn fasteners.
The front points are less known. The previous owner or workshop replaced the quarter turn bolts in the front with self tapping screws. This is why I never thought of removing them until I took the bumper off. Thanks for the tip and merry Christmas.
Brilliant video, Thanks. I knew most of the things but not how to release the lower tailgate. I was dreading that going wrong as I've seen some pretty horrendous videos of people having to go in through the door and ripping out the matting etc. to get at the cable. I also didn't know about the automatic headlight repeater light in the overhead consul.. With regard to the emergency door lock, I broke down with a completely flat battery once due to the alternator failing and the only way in was by using the ignition key as you described. However, in a RHD car you can only enter the passenger side and because all the other door locks operate by the electrical solenoid, I couldn't unlock any of the other doors, even manually. That meant that unless I climbed over the centre consul, I was only able to occupy the passenger seat until the AA man came to my rescue.. That isn't a problem when the sun shines but when I broke down it was pouring with rain, it was cold, windy and miserable. After watching the video I tried to get the suspension to rise and fall with the key fob but that didn't work. After watching the video again I realised I wasn't turning the hazards on. I also didn't know how to park without the parking brake coming on but thanks to you, I do now. I'm a real fan of your videos, thanks very much for your efforts.
I also fixed the rear hatch by pulling out the plastic. Scratched up my hands. Month later, I learned about the manual unlatch 🙄. I even installed a Emergency release wire back then. Glad you liked the video. Never had to use the manual key to enter the car. Wonder if I would get it open in a rainstorm. Probably break something...
The handbook is a great source. It is well written and very detailed. In today’s times this is rare to none existent. Manuals are cheap, incomplete, Google translated and include a link to a web site. Well done LR, 14 years ago.
Land Rover and BMW produce great handbooks, Mercedes, Citroen, Ford are not well written nor make it easy to find stuff. VW group okay. (Used to run a fleet). But your point about them getting worse is true. Just look how little technical info is on manufacturers' web sites. Audi, for example have stopped saying how many cylinders you get on each version.
The only disappointing thing about this video is that Vera shut down the radio just meanwhile “Nothing else matters” was playing 8:36 Shame on you 😂😂😂! Thank you guys, keep on rolling!

Thanks man. I liked your air suspension video. On ours, the air line going from the front right valve to the left strut was rubbing below the radiator causing a very small leak. Found it the same way. Christian

I suppose this is why it is called a Discovery
Good point 👍
Super, I only get 5 points, super thanks, well done Vera
Thanks!
Awesome video ! You guys seem like a wonderful couple.
Thanks Pete. Glad you liked it.
Most answers are in the handbook. The key can be programmed for suspension height adjustment, OR headlights on OR panic alarm.
The only disappointing thing about this video is that Vera shut down the radio just meanwhile “Nothing else matters” was playing 8:36
Shame on you 😂😂😂!
Thank you guys, keep on rolling!
I told her off camera that this is going to be noticed. Lol. Thanks for your comment.
Great video. Nice to see German countryside again
Thank you very much!
Informative and funny! Great Job.
Thanks.
If we let you borrow our Discovery 4, would you make a "15 things you may not know about your Land Rover Discovery 4 " ?
By the way it was an amazing video!
Kind regards from The Netherlands!
I would love to do that.
Ich liebe Euren Content! ❤️
Vielen lieben Dank.
This was amazing.. more videos please. USA Michigan 👍
Thanks RJ. I miss Michigan 🙋♀️ Vera
Also mandatory in Australia for the headlight washers and self levelling
Very good video. I only knew 5 of them. I'm impressed.
😃👍🙋♀️ Vera
Thanks man. I liked your air suspension video. On ours, the air line going from the front right valve to the left strut was rubbing below the radiator causing a very small leak. Found it the same way. Christian
You've inspired me to go deeper and deeper and make more videos.

@@Vera_and_Christian of course! I was hoping you would.
Beautiful video. I've a Discovery 4 and I know it has some of this characteristics but I don't know if it has all of them. I 'll tray to found them. Thanks a lot for this nice video.
Thanks for sharing!
I think you program is great I lov the Land Rover disco , I don’t have one
Remarkable and very entertaining!
I love my LR3 even more now!
Thanks so much for this video. I just bought a Discovery 3 for our offroading adventures and this video has been very helpful :). One thing I would like to ask if you could please assist? How did you install the center screen (between air vents, 3:21(video timeline)?? I am looking for one as well but no much info there. Most people have replaced the original radio but that too low and I have been thinking to install like yours.
Thanks heaps
We have a video about that unit, maybe it answers your question studio.ua-cam.com/users/videohGmF5yhUvG4/edit,
if not, write again, and we try to help you 🙋♀️ Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Thanks
Great lockdown challenge guys👍 Extra question Question “How do you prevent getting ripped off by a main dealer” Answer “ Follow your advise and be brave and learn how to tackle your repairs yourselves” 😀
Got that one right, we learned our lesson thankfully with my Freelander and it was just a code clearance for the TÜV. But they charged me 25 Euros just for looking at the car. Never been back since, except for the release party of the New Defender. That was kind of very cool 😁. It's good to be at least listed so you get invitations to release parties. Of course those will never happen again 🙄😥 🙋♀️ Vera
Great video and very helpful , did u know , when ur headlights are turned on there’s a small light at the front of ur windscreen interior overhead light , look forward to more videos , Ps , don’t mind admitting I was very nervous watching u drill into the side of the disco
Thanks for the tip. I never noticed this before.
Great video...mines Stornoway Grey.
Good choice and cool name.
Great fun and informative too!! Well done!
Thanks so much!
Big thumbs up 👍
heres one for you did you find the hidden cup holders in the middle row yet?
Below the center console in the back? Yes, we use it all the time. Some have a cup holder below the vent of the passenger side but ours does not.
@@Vera_and_Christian ALso, if you lower the middle seat's back rest then extend the head rest, that becomes another cup holder. my son who was 8 at that time showed me that.
thanks for sharing ! i knew a couple but most of them I dident - own one for 2 weeks now :)
Very cool!
Some great tips here - thank you!
You bet!
God I wish we’d received the manual version of this vehicle over here in the states.
I did not know the manual was skipped in the US. I guess it’s because it never was available in the V8. In 2010 LR canceled the manual completely.
You two are awesome👍🏻
Thank you a lot!
My special programmes have stopped working are you able to tell me why this is please?
Please buy a diagnostic tool, and watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/fy_0ym793-8/v-deo.html 🙋♀️Vera
Thank you so much. I have a 2008 Range Rover Sport but I'm pretty sure that the functions are the same.
Could be. Thanks for watching.
Well done Vera with a hard task master lol 😆
😅👍🙋♀️ Vera
Thanks for the reply, Vera. The problem is when the end is broken off the cable so the solenoid won’t open the top part of the tail gate.
Sorry but I missed this comment somehow. Yeah so when this happened on ours, Christian took the tailgate door apart to get to the broken cable. We have a project Disco right now, Fabian's Discovery 3 if you haven't seen the video about that one. So when we work on his tailgate, we'll do a video for sure. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
Thanks, very informative and fun to watch. Just to add, on your Q14, the fuse to take out is Fuse 26 in the engine room.
Also, on Q13, are you sure you can use these holes for towing? I know there is a hidden towing hook under the front underbody cover and in the back, one attached to the towing hook receptacle, also hidden by a plastic cover when not in use.
Cheers!
Yes, the towing loop is in the front under a plastic cover. The holes in the video are for tie down only. So if the car is transported on a trailer when the body is lowered down. I got this out of the manual...
Christian Muth Thanks Christian, I didn’t know that!
You 2 are great, 8 of 15,
Thanks!
Awesome! You guys are hilarious :) :)
Thanks !!!
Thanks guys! Very useful for my "new" Disco3. I see you have replaced the nav unit, what model and how do you like it?
Jorge, we installed a Chinese head unit. There is a video on our channel about it. It is not the greatest system. We did not get any use out of the original gps so we replaced it. The car did not have Bluetooth and the off-road screens anyhow.
You’ve made love LR
So sad, they stopped making these models
Yes, nothing available like it anymore. Prices go up too now.
Well done. A known part, a hidden parts.
In the film shows the extra spare wheel and its opening, can you guide me where to turn to get something similar to my car.
Thanks, Shai
The spare wheel is a self made construction. You find a two-part video in my channel.
Point 7 good girl. I love that
Thanks for your have job!!!
