The "4-Man" always trails behind the play 😄😄😄😄.
San Antonio Spurs started this mess, I always loved Triangle Offense 2-Guard Front= a. PERIMETER PLAYER (guard or small forward) always trailed.

No The Spurs did not start this. This was in place at least as far back as when the SHOWTIME Lakers and the BIrd-era Celtics were still running the NBA.
Just because Popovich uses almost every single great Tactic in the game doesn't mean he invented them.
Hell, North Carolina was doing this stuff during the entire Dean Smith Coaching Era and tons of other College teams were doing this too.
I'm talking in the 70's and 80's and probably before that. This stuff is 50 years old AT LEAST.

      @@brucemercer7753 I don't count college = the junior circuit. 😀😀😀
NBA Basketball used to be a 2-Guard Front or 3-Out 2-In

@@brucemercer7753 I have since converted my Offensive System to this also. 😀😀😀😀
Especially with Dribble Entry toward a sideline and the "Trailing Big " at the Top of Key all by himself.
Guard defenders are always more aggressive, trying to jump the passing lane for a steal.
This "Trailing Big" will always be open because his defender has Rim Protection duties, so he can't gamble for a steal = a much easier pass, even though we define it as a more passive Non-penetrating Pass.

@@deandrepage1048 Even my High School team in the 90's beat Popovich to the punch on this stuff. Our coaches stole it from the NBA... I know for sure the Knicks, Pistons, Bulls and Suns used it. This is 50 year old basketball or older.
If you want to be cutting edge you have to run the 2 sided break. In College see Xavier and Louisville... in the NBA see Houston and probably ALL of the other teams in both College and the Pros. .

Forwards used to be on both wings

Whoever edits these videos doesn't know basketball. We NEVER got to the part of this session where the Secondary Break is shown.
The Secondary Break is about Feeding the 4, or the 1 getting the ball BACK from the 2 or 3 so that the 1 can run off of a Pick and Roll or a Drag Screen or something.
All that was shown in the video is what is known as the Primary Break
