I loved all the sailing and taking another ship stuff this episode. To answer the question of what does Eleanor have the other captains need -- it's connections. The Guthrie family is a big name in shipping, her grandfather in the Colonies owns the ships that a lot of their stuff is transported on. The grandfather keeps his name clean by letting others do the dirty work but he benefits from their little pirate empire. Eleanor is often very frustrating. She can be a chainsaw when the situation calls for a scalpel.

Eleanor has some serious issues. She wants to be independent of her father, and she also knows there's nowhere in the civilized world where a woman can be any kind of leader. So she's determined to create her own little kingdom with Nassau where she can have the sort of power and freedom that men can have. But she does not understand the sacrifices that men must make to have that, or how easy it is for them to lose. She grew up in extreme privilege, and is very naive. She's also fallen under the influence of Flint, who has been telling her exactly the sorts of things she wants to believe. Is he also naive? Is he manipulating her? Is he totally insane? Or is he right? Whichever it is, he's extremely persuasive, and people seem willing to do very dangerous things when under his influence, somehow thinking those things aren't impossible, but actually a sure thing.
What's worse is Eleanor seems to believe that she's on Flint's level and that they're peers just because of her current position when nothing can be further from the truth. The game Flint is playing is a very complex one, he's fully aware of the sacrifices needed to accomplish it and he's 100% committed to its success. Eleanor on the other hand is currently the only viable proxy for her grandfather's empire that is where all her power comes from and these ruthless pirates afford her all kinds of courtesies otherwise they would treat her like all the other girls in the brothel.
Love her or hate her, Eleanor is the farthest thing from dumb. She's literally been running her fathers business since she was 17. She's impetuous. She lets her feelings and her ambitions drive her, sometimes to her detriment, but so do many of the male characters and none of them get the same hate for their rash decisions that Eleanor does. Do I agree with everything she does? No. Do I dislike her at times? Yes. But everything she has done or will do on the show is *also* done by the male characters, to little or no criticism by viewers. Something to think about.
Yes she is not dumb but her emotions make her backstab a lot of people without considering the consequences and her being the trade boss of Nassau her actions are way more consequential to the future of that place that is where the criticism comes from. My issue with her is actually not her backstabbing or "craziness" like they said because someone like Flint does that often it is the fact she thinks she's on Flint or Vane's level and she simply isn't because she is not willing to commit all the way e.g be as ruthless as them when dealing with the consequences she always backsliding on her actions giving mixed signals which is terrible thing to do if you are going to be a respected leader. Everything is by proxy to her & that is her weakness a cat pretending to be a lion.
