    Curious why you installed the adapter to the vehicle CCS port first, and then the Tesla cable. Ford / Tesla instructions are to do exactly the opposite - adapter attaches to SuperCharger cord first - then plug the assembly to the vehicle.

      @@EVBuyersGuide I actually like the way you showed - seems easier and less unwieldy when installing the cord without the adapter on it. But it would probably be hard to remove it that way in the reverse order - tricky to reach under the NACS cable and slide down the NACS release.

    Been waiting for the Blue Cruise updates since last summer 🥲. Hopefully previous model year owners will get those updates soon. Any additional improvements to charging would be welcome to but I don't think that one will happen.

      @@EVBuyersGuide Did they confirm charging and power limitation updates will come to previous models. I know we will get the Bluecruise updates at some point but the charging one and especially the performance one are big ones owners are curious about.

    Blue cruise looks pretty cool, but being a control freak when driving, it’s not too likely I’ll make that move over.

    It’s incredible that the faster charge speeds aren’t something that they’re planning on bringing to the existing fleet. That’s despite the fact the battery pack is identical!
    It’s also beyond conscionable that even on these latest version of software, Ford doesn’t display charging speeds. It’s been asked for since the first press drives back in 2020.

      I believe part of this has to do with temperature sensors. The earlier models did not have temp sensors on all the charging components and so the charging rate was based on a conservative mathematical model to prevent overheating. The 2024 has temperature sensors that are used to determine the charging rate based on the current state of the charging components and so can be more aggressive.

    @EVBuyersGuide Did you encounter any issues or have "conversations" with Tesla owners that were unhappy that you were taking up the wrong spot,...due to the charging port on the Mach E being in a different location than those on a Tesla?

    This is one thing I gotta give Tesla credit for, even older cars consistently get software updates unlike the clowns at Ford that somehow think it'd acceptable to lock a newer version of blue cruise to a new MY.
    I saw comments saying it's been confirmed for older cars, I've heard that line before. Never trust these automakers on stuff like this until it actually happens.

    I would like an ev, but here in Maine we are mostly rural roads and small towns. As long as you stay around a bigger city you can find level 3 chargers. Any where else there are not many or any in lots of parts of the state.

      The closest DC charger you should need would be around 200 miles from home in the direction you tend to travel. ~150 miles if you're making a round trip.

      DC charging “nearby” is pointless.
      You need it near where you’re going, or along the route.
      You should only need your home charger to charge nearby.

      As long as you're able to charge at home you shouldn't need a DC charger nearby. If you're thinking about an EV I would recommend keeping track of your trips and seeing how often you would exceed 40-45% of rated driving ranges one direction. Then see if a DC charger was nearby on that trip. -Travis

      Have you checked charger maps? I live in rural VA and there are over a dozen public chargers within a ten mile radius of home. It's one of those situations where you don't notice them unless you actively look or need one. But realistically, a home/office 220V source is sufficient for a lot of people.

    Unfortunate that you did not park next to the Ford F150 Lightening, not doing so eliminated 2 potential charging spots for Teslas, there should be some guidance on how to use NACS adapter or Magic Dock with cars that do not have the charging port orientation the same as a Tesla.

      True, the variety of charging port locations is going to effect the efficiency and availability of these charging spots. In this instance we were there for 10-15 minutes max and there was only 1 other vehicle that pulled up being a charge with plenty open stalls available. Charger etiquette is important! -Travis

      @@EVBuyersGuide Just saying to bring this to the forefront and lead by example, many people are totally unaware on how to use a Tesla supercharger with a none Tesla.

      It sucks that Ford chose to not show the charging speed unless the app is used. Of course if the app is used then Ford may have access to all the users' data. For me this would be deal breaker.

    With a 9 minute improvement in charge time, it is now only 15 slower than a Hyundai Ioniq 5&6

      @@EVBuyersGuide absolutely agree. But also worth mentioning how poor it charges compared to its competitors. Charge rates of The Mach E are unacceptable, as it cost about the same as other more superior charging EV’s. Sure Ford can charge on the Tesla network now, but so will most everyone else soon enough. Ford should be embarrassed by this slow rate, and cost of it.

      @@Bum_Hip The Mach E isn't really any slower than "average". Part of the charge time difference is the battery capacity size, Ford has a bigger than segment average battery in both standard and long range models which is why the real world range numbers are solidly above average as well. The SR model with the LFP pack does not peak as high as the Model 3 with the LFP pack, but 10-80% it averages ~85 kW which is right in line with the LFP Model 3 which averages ~80 kW, but the Mach E takes a bit longer since the battery is bigger. The Mach E also averages a faster charge rate vs the Equinox EV, Solterra, Bz4X, small battery Ariya, etc etc. Comparisons are important. With the big battery Mach E, the average is "OK", the update should get the average 10-80% rate over 100kw but the exact rate remains to be seen. Model Y averages 102+ kW so again, in the window, but the Mach E has 18 kWh more capacity which is why in our real world test the Mach E got better range. It's really only the Hyundai/Kia/Genesis EVs that beat the segment average by a large margin (assuming you have a capable charger). Ioniq 5, EV6, etc will do 10-80% in a very short time and average ~190 kW

      @@AAutoBuyersGuide On a 300-350 miles road trip with a single 15 mins stop for bathroom & charging, the Extended Range Mach-E is just as fast as any Tesla, Hyundai or gas car. The problem has always been for that 2nd, 3rd, 4th charging stop where in the past, it always took 10-15 mins longer than every other EV. The improved Mach-E should narrow that gap considerably.

      I realize this will vary based on conditions but how many miles does the 2024 Mach e ext battery RWD average at 80% charge on a road trip? Trying to decide if I can drive from LA to SF on a single charge.

    Pretty neat, but they still need to fix the door handles and at least attempt to integrate the dash screen. I'd prefer a long row of short screens like the Koreans use or have it horizontal with REAL buttons and dials below instead of a massive vertical screen with FAKE buttons and drop downs/menus that looks like an afterthought.

      @lawpolo what is amazing about them, especially the rear door handles? They seem gimmicky compared to the smart touch ones in our last three cars (Forester XT, Outback XT, Highlander). Those have worked flawlessly for well over a decade in all weather conditions, and even small children can operate them.

      @@Noah_E I've had Imprezas for The last 10yrs. Loved em, but they took out The handbrake, so I got the mach-e as a replacement.
      I watched my 4yo get in The mach-e, no problems. Even grabbed The spongy part on the inside of the back door as designed.
      In the front, the pull handle and button are actually super ergonomic and a simple single motion to open.
      So it solves the issue of being a simple handle, though not typical, with no external moving parts, while providing an aero surface without. No funky fold in handles.
      I'm also an experienced mechanical designer. I studied design more than a decade ago. They're nice handles.
      All just my opinion of course. They made a really good car. I can't wait to see what Ford makes when they actually try a mass appeal EV, vs this first polarizing marketing exercise.
