Sounded like it dropped some valves which caused piston damage, this was the most common catastrophic failure I used to see on these old cummins motors usually due to over-revving on a downgrade they can't handle anything over 3,000 or the valves float. When the valves start floating and they hit the pistons and it knocks the keepers out...game over.

When I was in my early years in the auto industry, about 17 years ago, I had the pleasure of working on a 1997 F350 7.3L turbodiesel. On that day I had my first lesson in diesel mechanics as well as safety. The engine was a no start issue. My coworker turned the key, I proceeded to spray ether into the airbox. We were totally unaware of what we were doing (both of us inexperienced with diesel). The top of that motor blew up sending me to the floor and shrapnel all over the shop. I am fairly certain that's where my lack of hearing and fear of diesels came from. Haha. It's a memory I will never forget.

You should pull the turbo oil supply line off and put it in the inlet of the turbo for the next one you destroy! Or rig up some sort of external oil feeding so it doesn't lock up from lack of oil in the crankcase. I've always wanted to see one run away on oil.

Love to see you try and blow up an IVECO engine. We have one in a FIAT loader and the damn thing doesn't stop. Weve ran it out of oil till it wouldn't turn over added oil and it fired right up. We had it sitting for five years till the vines took it over and I told a buddy of mine it would fire right up on the shitty diesel still in it. That it did but it took off wfo because the pedal was rusted to the floor.. great videos. Love to see you kill one of the IVECO 's

can you run a prechamber injected diesel vs a direct injection diesel on Crude oil and Gasoline and see how much of a knocking it takes
some old commercials - for example for some farm tractors claim they are multi fuel and the prechamber injection helps prevent knocking to the point that you supposedly can run it on a gasoline fuel oil mix, kerosine, waste oil and low tar crude oil

Also where are all the haters? I'd figure there world be a lot more since I'd say the 855s are more legendary engines than the 8v71s.
By this time with the 8v71 destruction video, there were 2000 angry commenters and 60% more dislikes than likers. Funny how that all works.
    Anyway, great video!

How about the ol' banger gets delivered to your house, dropped on your steps and you can save it.
