At first I didn’t like Dylan because he didn’t put on the thick Chicago accent. Now I embrace more because he more importantly caught his essence, as did the rest of the cast.
This is awesome. Just watched the film tonight and throughout the entire thing, wanted to pause every few minutes to look up the actual real footage and make comparisons.
I'll never understand why it seems impossible for these types of movies to get the hair to match the original people, I mean the footage is right THERE. Other than that this movie was great
Strange right? The last play I did there were references in paintings. So I grew a beard and long hair over a couple of months. Why don't they require actors to do the same. Shit, a film takes a year or two from script to filming. Even some of the outfits are off in this. It's right there to study.
@Hack_The_Planet_ except on the audition tapes the original actress has straight blonde/red hair with curls in the bottom. And the actress they put her in a darker hair with insane curls. Like you have the footage what she look like and you got it wrong
It's too bad Benny Safdie had to drop out of playing Kaufman. He looks the part. On the other hand, having two characters played by one actor almost has a Kaufmanesque metaness lol
@@Bryan-b1r2i the fact that I didn't know that there was double duty for Andy Kaufman, I apologize for thinking that he's not as good as Jim Carrey. He did pretty good!
Considering this was based on one night, you would have thought they would have gotten the hair styles a bit better. But Dimitreze is back like John Wick!
Speaking of hair. They did Paul Schafer wrong by making him more bald than he actually was back then. Otherwise, I thought the movie as a whole was okay. It was the kind of love letter the show needed.
Like it's actually mind blowing how close so many of them are!! And the movie was just perfectly NYC. I felt like I was in the city to see a play and just stumbled upon the mess that is the first day of SNL haha. The movie is a blast

I wish they hadn't given the Belushi character that fake looking facial hair for no reason, it kept taking me out of it lol. Still really enjoyed the movie, much better than I expected
This only got 75% in rotten tomatoes?? Tell me how they could have possibly made a better movie about the 90 minutes before the first Saturday night live..
The movie as a whole was a chaotic disaster. The only saving grace was maybe three or four of the actors and their ability to capture the details of the characters they were playing. I am shocked it got above a 50% audience score..
Nah. He played his part perfectly, dig into the history of SNL, it seemed right in line with how Belushi acted behind the scenes. Even him not signing his NBC contract down to the wire is 100% true.
He was the weakest link to me. They seem like they purposely made him a moody Tazmanian Devil when that happened sometime later when his addictions kicked in and he was competing with Chevy.
He lacked a certain charm that made beluishi oddly funny rather than just odd. Not to mention he gives off more Bobby Moynihan, than Belushi in the facial features.
Eric Idle has the best analysis and snide comment on SNL back in the late 70s, to the effect that it's all very nice but they can't write a punchline. Yep. Nailed it.
I will never understand why hollywood can't get the hairstyles right. They have the tools. They have the technology. They have photos and video. Why. WHY.
No offense to the actor portraying Belushi but he was the weak link (and the script didn't help him), but Chevy, Garrett, Jane, Danny and Gilda got their due.
@@patuberTV Right, but everyone seems to think Belushi was like his character in The Blues Brothers when he was really as moody and prone to blow-ups like he was in the Saturday Night movie.
@@kamdan2011 I get it, but that's not necessarily Belushi 1975, and it needed more accuracy in character for that period, but I said the script didn't do the character any favors. Cheers.
@ If anything it was probably a bit too broad to have shown him as unkempt and moody which make you wonder in the film’s universe why he’s even there in the first place. In his original screen test he’s clean shaven and in the zone of what he does best.
wow this is cool to see, it highlights the raw brilliance of the original cast. what a time to be alive. Doing an Andy Kaufman in that particular moment is a truly tall order, Jim Carrey came the closest. Thanks for sharing.
