  • 26 professional and residents’ associations in Nairobi County have expressed objection to a proposal by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to allow construction of high-rise buildings in different parts of the city. The associations have threatened to seek legal redress if the county fails to suspend the plan to allow for the construction of high-rise buildings in areas like Kilimani and Kileleshwa. Governor Sakaja has defended the proposal saying the population is growing and there is demand for housing.

      Exactly, why should people come from other 46 counties to Nairobi?

    • @kim1570
      @kim1570 2 місяці тому

      Because there's a global plan to push the world's populations into mega cities and 15-minute cities for purposes of control and monitoring peoples' movements. Look into 15-minute cities and how SMART technology will be used to box people in like zoo animals. In the meantime, people will gradually be pushed out of the rural areas. As I said, this is a global plan (UN Sustainable Development Plan) and what they have been doing over the years is installing puppet presidents like Ruto and puppet governors/mayors/town councilors like Sakaja to oversee their plans. Why do you think Ruto has insisted on taxing everyone to build his 'affordable' houses?
      From what I see here in Nairobi and in some American cities, they want to build many apartment blocks and then trigger some false flag event that will grant them the permission to move the masses into those already-built blocks.
      Konza, Tatu and the upcoming Nairobi Railways City are being built as 15-minute cities.
      Also look into the 30 x 30 forestation plan. Its under the same umbrella of grabbing rural land from indigenous people and stashing them into 15-minute cities.

    • @kim1570
      @kim1570 2 місяці тому

      Also think about the fact that the UN Population Fund is making a big move to Nairobi. If you know anything about the UN, you know that its a globalist organization that was set up to gradually overtake the sovereignty of nations and heard all countries into a one-world-system of governance. Ask yourself.. what's the connection between this push to densify Nairobi and the UNFPA relocating a chunk of its NYC employees to Gigiri? Begin connecting the dots.

Come up with a masterplan together with national government, draw up a metro rail system to connect Nairobi to the Metro areas outside it. A 10 million people city without modern rail system? Or the kickbacks for approving these buildings is so sweet to throw your city under the bus. Sadly, these buildings are not designed for earthquake, are you aware of that Sakaja? @kim1570 2 місяці тому

      @@georgeodhiambo598 I've been reading your comments and you have a very sound mind. There are so many intersecting issues going on with this high rises problem.
      As you can see from the comment above (the OP), this thing is turning into class warfare. In fact I won't be surprised if very soon, UDA politicians start chanting their 'hustler' narrative, ati let hustlers have access to those neighbourhoods.
      Wasee wa ghetto want 'inclusivity' in the (formerly) nice/leafy areas that they currently do not have access to and they see these high rises as their way in, and then you have a section of unexposed Kenyans who think that development means tall concrete monstrosities everywhere without realizing that there's such a thing as urban planning. These folks don't understand that Kileleshwa and Kilimani *were not designed to accommodate all these high rises in the first place*, so Sakaja can't just wake up and decide that the matter is as simple as 'improving' the water and sewerage systems, whatever he means by that.
      The problem with these types of Kenyans is that they don't understand quantity vs. quality. To them, a bunch of tall blocks squeezed together is development so long as they have decent interior finishes and are built in a 'nice' part of town.
      If you listen to the youtuber called Francis Gaitho, he talks about what he calls the ''villagization of Nairobi'' where the standards in the city are being brought down by the influx of rural folk who don't understand quality control. So between these upcountry-minded folks and a thoroughly corrupt NCA, we get what we now have in Nai.
      Nairobi and the rest of Kenya should be led by a group of educated, well-exposed and well-intentioned nationalistic people. Instead, we have a bunch of self-serving idiots in those positions.
      Anyway, the bigger issue here is that there's a sinister global plan to herd the masses off rural land and into apartments in tightly controlled zones called 15-minute cities, and this is also why Ruto is pushing his 'affordable' housing nonsense on the other end. Think about the fact that Sakaja is not pushing these high rises in Runda, Muthaiga and Karen... because that's where wazungu and other protected classes live. The concrete boxes a.k.a apartments are for the commoners while hao wengine get to enjoy their 5 acre lawns. Its going to be very interesting to see how this issue turns out.

Even kibaki was way ahead of his time because he thought of building a new city Tatu city with proper planning instead of congesting Nairobi. huyo mjinga anaitwa sakaja akifinyilia watu imagine the traffic jam? alafu playgrounds, hospitals, RC facilities, parks etc zitakua wapi?

In effect, you would be replacing eyesores with superior high rise buildings. To replace quiet and leafy neighbourhoods living in peace and serenity with poorly planned, poorly ventilated, poorly lit concrete structure is just a case of degeneration and continuation of urban rot.

    This governor thinks very shallow. Is that even a question that where are they going to live? That’s why you open other nearby towns. There’s no point of Nairobi getting overpopulated when the nearby towns are near empty. Move offfices, businesses, hospitals and universities to outside the city. People will move there. Can’t you learn a thing or two from western world? A place like America, the capital of a state is not the biggest city in that state. For instance, Chicago is the third largest city in America, yet it doesn’t even qualify to be a state capital. It don’t have offices or amenities to govern the state coz all those amenities are reclassified in smaller cities in that state. This stops people to overpopulate Chicago. Same with New York City. Though it’s among the biggest cities in the whole of America, the smaller city Albany is the capital of the whole New York State. Learn something guys! There’s no reason Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya. Let Nakuru or Machakos be and you’ll see how fast those Cities develop, expand, and populate.

    I am not convinced Sakaja has his priorities right, judging by the current state with mounds of dirt still on the side of roads, open sewers, trash, leaning streetlights, and missing road furniture. Let him fix the current mess in westlands and kilimani first.
    He thinks it's just a matter of expanding sewage systems, water, and power but what about livability? What about the road network, which is not expandable in places like Kilimani? How will it handle the traffic? Imagine building taller buildings than the CBD with single lanes in each direction and no provisions for buses, bicycles, and pedestrian walkways.
    I'm beginning to believe he's corrupt. He sounds like someone who would bend the rules when he;s offered big money, considering his inability to enforce current building regulations, which, I agree with the residents' association, has greatly lowered the quality of life in the once upmarket surburbs.
    What I don't agree with the resident associations is them trying to hold onto their dear old quiet neighborhoods. Just accept Kilimani, by virtue of being too close to a big city, has succumbed to natural urban sprawl, accepting it, hii imeenda, it's too late.
