I know this is very different from how they used to be, but I like it. One of the things that marks Skyclad apart from other folk metal bands is the dexterity of their lyrics, and this version of this song showcases that better than the original.
I quite like this version personally, the original kicks ass but this version has it's merits as well. I don't have much Skyclad albums but really liked their In the... All Together album.
I've heard enough from their last 3 albums to give me a belly full. Unless they've made a radical change like Tool with 10,000 days, I'm really not that interested. Martin W was not only a very cleaver lyricist but had a vocal talent with this project that captured its essence. Now they're like any other folk metal band, rather than its modus operandi!
Look i Love Martin too but i would die before calling their new stuff pop rock or something. They may have moved away from thrash but they are still kinda heavy. Ridley isnt the same as Walkyrier of course but technically he is a better singer.
This sounds awful. What kinda vocal is that? Kevin .....you need to leave the songs that Martin sung as you spoil all his good works with your terrible tone.
gotta agree with widdershins..new vocalist is all well and good...but to hear them butcher tunes is just wrong.........this tune in particular seems to have had all the life sucked from it.

I'm usually stuck with Martin's dependence syndrome when it comes to Skyclad. But I have to say this is the only tune that fits better with Kevin.
With or without Martin this album has a great spirit anyway.
