He should have used the Los Angeles area coster comparison of colossus to twisted colossus rather than that stupid twisted cyclone comparison. Know the region buddy!!!
@@marcusnunes7256 Yeah, Hoff was the man, his fastball/change combo had the perfect gap in speed and his longevity was great Gagne was great for a bit like the video said
@@ktbeatty yeah for sure, obviously riviera was on a much more successful team, but regardless his cutter was nasty I miss those days of tony gywnn and hoffman, had so much fun as a kid going to those games, got autographed balls from both of them and ken caminiti, remember that dude? He was roided to the gills lol
For two years my father and I traveled around and went to different games and stadiums, eventually getting to around 38 stadiums (we caught a lot of teams at their last year at some historic older places), and then their first year at their current park. Going to Dodger Stadium and seeing the "Game Over" sign was as electric as I remember a park getting. Outside of seeing the last few games at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, seeing this goggled goofball was one of the best high points I can ever remember.
I loved Gagne when he was with the Dodgers. Back when he was trying to make the team as a starter, I always hoped they would make him a reliever. His main issue as a starter was that effectiveness would greatly diminish (moreso than normal) each time he would go through the lineup, especially his third time through a lineup. Nowadays that wouldn't be such a big deal since managers go to the bullpen earlier and earlier the past few seasons, but back then a starter was expected to eat up as many innings as possible. Once he only had to see batters once in a game he was absolutely lights out and it showed.
On the real though, i’ve never seen a more dominant pitcher in my life. I missed the prime years of Pedro and Randy, but that stretch Gagne had was unbelievable... nobody could touch him (except Bonds)
Lol he learned English by watching American sitcoms.. Shows Keenan and kel.. My brain: could you imagine him walking into the dugout with a thick ass accent “ I love orange soda!”
@@Stephenp503 that's awesome, its cool to see good content creators working together to spread their audience. I bindged some Airtime videos earlier after I discovered the channel. Never been "into" coasters, but it was really neat to learn some new stuff. Both channels are great imo
How many times have we seen these players have a year or a few years of greatness only to fall off the cliff. It should make fans appreciate how players like Trevor Hoffman and Mariano Rivera had such long careers.
Gagne was a revelation in 2002. I remember him at St. Louis getting out of a bases loaded, no outs jam. And in Baltimore, he gave up a lead-off triple, and then got out of it by striking out a couple batters. Every time he came in, you expected at least two Ks. We went crazy for him. His curve was unfair, and his fastball almost untouchable. It was so much fun to watch him ... even if he was in the report.
Bro how did I never catch this crossover I’m subscribed to both channels this was super cool- (aside from gambling and poker I’m a baseball and coaster dork)
Still have my Gagne bobble heads & game over shirt, been a life long Dodgers fan & the rep was we never stayed after the 7th because of traffic- this guy changed that culture
As a Giants fan, I will always believe Jason Schmidt was robbed of the Cy Young in 2003. I'll also always remember the feeling of defeat when seeing Gagne come into the game. He was truly amazing during that three year run.
My 2004 Fantasy Bullpen: Eric Gagne Francisco Rodriguez Brad Lidge Keith Folke Needless to say, I dominated the league. Thank you, Eric for helping me stomp on my opponents.
As a Giants fan I've always had a strong hatred for the song Welcome to the Jungle. Didn't even know why until you mentioned it was Gagne's walk up song lmao.
Wow, that's some real high level product placement synergy, Jack from 30 Rock would be proud. Is it a baseball video or a six flags commercial? The answer is yes!
10 sec into video: wow that sounds like airtime thrills’ voice. But it can’t be. 1 min into video: holy shit two of my obscure hobbies coming together Nice narrating Chris!
My first favorite player growing up I was a huge basketball/Laker/Kobe fan but he made me a Dodger/baseball fan ps He did blow one game in 2003 the All Star Game (damn you Blalock)
That rollar coast ( wicked cyclone ) that is shown in this video, is an awesome ride. Live about 20 min from six flags new england ( agawam massachusetts )
You should do another video on Kenley Jansen. Starting out as a catcher, transitioning to the bullpen, becoming the Dodgers closer, dealing with some heart problems, losing the closer role, regaining the closer role, dealing with some heart problems again, blowing two save opportunities in the world series, struggled last year, and now off to a good start in 2020.
I remember me and my cousin took my little brother to a game. He was about 9. He’s gonna be 29 now. He wanted to see Gagne pitch. I don’t remember who we were playing but we decided to leave since we were winning. I remember telling my brother he’s not gonna pitch we were up so we decided to leave. As we were walking in the parking lot welcome to the jungle came on. I’ve felt bad ever since lol.
This is how I became a Dodger fan at the start of 2003: because of stars like Éric Gagné. My god, it was fun to watch... even as an 11-to-12-year-old kid.
You know why Eric Gagne 55 saves in 2003 but his team only won 85 games. The Dodgers offense that season was so horrible but their pitching staff was so good that they entered the 9th inning a majority of the time leading like 2-1, 4-2, or 3-2. They were possibly the worst 85 win team ever, but without Eric Gagne always locking down every save they would’ve been so much worse!
I love how here in Montreal us anglophones need to speak French fluently in order to even HAVE a job, yet somehow francos like Gagne can grow up in Montreal and somehow not speak a word of fucking English
At first Gagne was a failed starter who couldn't get past the order the second time. Then they put him in the bullpen and it was a disaster. Then in 2002, he came into camp much fatter and started throwing 100 mph. When Matt Herges couldn't secure the closer's roll, he took it and ran. Watching him come out to Welcome to the Jungle was awesome. Most of knew he was roiding, and we didn't care. Dodger fans didn't have much to cheer for until Gagne.
Airtime SPORTS!

*rick and morty theme intensifies*
Haha ik
it’s REALLLY weird hearing chris talk baseball. especially when he says diamondback
Exactly
Infinity war is the best crossover
SRS: Hold my beer
As a Canadian, gotta watch this. While I eat a late “breakfast”. And I love how you said the city and provinces correctly. Bless.
Qwabek
He also did a pretty good job at pronouncing Gagné’s name
🇨🇦
Votto the best Canadian?
Gretsky my opinion I think he is, hands down. On the mound nowadays I love the Calgary boy Soroka
As a rollercoaster and baseball nerd this makes me screech in happiness
I know right. I literally had to pinch myself to make sure this was real
Same I was so confused when I heard his voice
I love airtime thrills and i love stark raving sports! Best collab ever
Gagne is still one of my favorite players to this day i was lucky enough to meet him at his book signing years ago hes such an awesome dude
Eric Gange was great at having a good breakfast.
Foolish baseball fan. I am too.
Seems to help batters more than pitchers.
@@vinnythewebsurfer Probably because way more batters were taking them compared to pitchers.
Other than Gagne and Clemens, I can't think of any standout pitcher users

Dylan Saluck I think you mean Jon bois fan
Grew up a padres fan and saw this guy a lot, he was great for a while, in SD had Hoffman and we all went crazy for hell's bells, great times
