World’s beauty standards have been Hollywood white washed for over a hundred years. Chinese beauty standard is hardly different than any other countries. I think diversity is just starting to come in to play, with Bollywood, music videos, and actually seen beautifully people from all over the world…..
I'm a BBW too, just spent little over 2 weeks in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. Hundreds of Chinese people made me feel so inappropriate and deeply uncomfortable EVERYDAY in EVERY ONE OF THESE CITIES... I can't even imagine how awful it would feel on rural areas... It did impact me a lot 😢 I'm glad it's over. I don't ever wanna come back.
Chinese usually won't apply their beauty standards to people other than coming from China, Japan and Korea. So please being exotic and confident in yourself, don't feel bad about people's weird questions out of curiosity.
From what I understand the beauty standards don't apply to Westerners. Most Westerners think it comes from wanting European standards. However they've had those ideals for awhile, you see it in their ancient paintings & literature.
Everyone interviewed in this video is beautiful. I think Chinese people and other East Asian people tend to be a bit insecure about our looks, so we try to adapt more to European beauty standards. The beauty standards in countries like China, Korea, and Japan tend to be the same (pale, small nose, large eyes, thin, etc). No offense to Asian people, I am Chinese/ Asian myself and I think we have unique beauty that we do not really appreciate ourselves.
They know they're gorgeous and they're not afraid to own it! This is quite refreshing since in China many ladies suffer from low self-esteem, even the good-looking ones.
Older Chinese like natural look, not too much makeup. Young Chinese follow beauty standard of South Korean. Their music stars are very popular in China. Lighter skin is celebrated for women, not so much for men in China.
Good video. Have confidence and beauty standard would not be an issue. Historically Eastern Asia people prefer fair skin. There is a whole industry dedicated to that. Dark skin is associated with working outdoor and implying a lower social status. Light skin, sheltered from the sun, means wealth and education. So that is really related to class. Bigger eyes are preferred, but not necessarily other western facial features. With the exception of the eyes, Chinese facial features are closer to the Africans than to Caucasians. Beauty standard changes with time, so don't worry about it.
Big eyes, high n narrow nose, double eyelids, thick lashes, being tall, curvy body. The Chinese and the world in general still have far to go when it comes to discarding the Euro beauty standard.
Be yourself and don't try to recreate their standards. Just a few decades ago many of them were peasants with no real standards. Chinese standards is pretty much European standards.
lol, chinese have been into lighter skins and big eyes for thousands of years, not only china, but also the whole of east asia, and southeast asia as well.
@@bohu4586 lighter skins? probably yes, but it has more to do with wealth and social status. Big eyes? I am not sure there is 'thousands of years' of historical evidence of that.

No human or demon will make me question my beauty, in any part of the world. I have evolved into an extremely confident person.
