I have a 7" pleco in my 75 gallon cichlid tank, and I'm happy with him stirring up the bottom and such. He's some kind of sailfin pleco that should be at just about max size. He does monopolize a cave and eat eggs whenever my cichlids lay them, so I would probably skip him for bristlenose if I was doing it all again, but I don't feel the need to get rid of him or anything.
$10 dollars spent on any another fish will get you way more enjoyment than spending $50 plus on some of the fancy plecos. The breeders charge soo much because the effort that goes in. But from a hobbyist perspective why would you ever buy one.
