Yes it is very important to pass on our traditions, language, culture etc. It is our ancestry ,while showing respect for our ancestors who came before us. There is nothing to be ashamed of . Every other group are proud of their culture and history..I feel it should be taught when very young by families. Schools may or may not teach it..
My first and last visit to Paramin was in the 70s during the Christmas season where along with three friends we were invited to Dj in a birthday party. I still speak about that experience because we had an enjoyable and memorable experience. The hosts were very friendly and we were well accommodated before, during and after the event. We even got our afros braided by a couple of the resident girls. (lol). Yes, we enjoyed the meals of wild meat and we were even served meals of fresh fish and provisions the evening after before we left. My reason for not returning was only because i migrated within a month after. Thanks for the video and thanks for refreshing my memories about the jeeps, the hills, the views and of course the friendly people who offered us so much for our home trip. Coming from Marabella then, i loved Paramin.
Wow thank you so much for sharing your story about your wonderful experience in paramin. I definitely will be going there when next I'm in Trinidad. Thanks for watching.
Really nice video Martina, I never got a chance to visit Paramin when I lived in Trinidad but I always heard of how beautiful it is. My maternal great grandmother spoke Patois, her daughter, my grandmother spoke some Patios but unfortunately none of their kids, grandkids or greatgrands etc. do. :-(
That's the thing our grand parents and great grand parents spoke patois but never passed it down to their children and grand children. Glad you enjoyed the video. Well at least you were able to visit paramin by watching my video. Happy new year.
Yes you should make the trip. I'm hoping you have a reliable vehicle that can make it up the hill or know someone who has one. Thanks for watching. Stay safe😷
Keep the culture. Never let anyone destroy your dreams. It is a real look at them, not you. You have to start teaching them from young. Waiting until they mix with the crowds dampens their ambitions. Social media also does not assist with true culture. Thanks sis .
Thanks for the tour really enjoyed it good morning to you as well hope you are ok love visiting places and learning different cultures beautiful views you are so right martina wow how big is that house take care and we love you always xoxo thumbs up nice Range Rover 👍xxx
Aunty much thanks to you and your son-in-law for conquering the steep hillsides of Paramin Trinidad to bring us the peaceful and cultural lifestyle of it's friendly and wonderful people.
Love the video and your chat with the Paramin elders. Was last in Paramin in 2000 went up to the very top in a 4x4 . Scary drive up there. But the views are wonderful and you can see the rows and rows of crops peppered around the mountainside. Love to you and yours
I know the feeling of having the vehicle stuck and incapable of going any further up those hills. Many years ago we were invited to a wedding there. We only made it to the church in Maraval. We were part of the wedding entourage going up with vehicles in front and behind. We were forced to pull aside and wait before turning back. It was quite embarrassing.
Yes I think it is very important to pass it on...I was unfortunate to learn it as my granddaddy died when I was 2 and my father just spoke English to me and my mother whom is from the south. But my husband is Jamaican and he teaches our daughter it.
I wasn't aware that Jamaicans speak patois as well. Its wonderful that your husband is teaching your daughter how to speak the language. Maybe you might pick up a thing or two😉😉 happy new year.
Thanks Linda I really would like to improve on ny interviewing skills. If my daughter was there I might have done it differently. Thanks for watching. I was saying Range Rover but it is Land Cruiser 😉😉😊😊
WhaToCook Trini Recipes And More you did a great job interviewing! Yeah I noticed the man you interviewed said it was a Land Rover. But I just realized Range Rover is indeed a tongue twister with the R’s
Great video thanks for sharing that was a spectacular view it looks so peaceful up there.they seem to be a very close knit community...yes it's good to carry on tradition but these young people these days not interested.in learning...stay safe cheers from Orlando 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏽👍🏽
This was beautiful. I think the older folks should teach the younger to speak the language and not just say they are not interested speaking it. Blessings to you for sharing.
Nice, but I don't do heights girl!! I will have to take an anti anxiety pill to get in that car!! Lol! That is our culture so how will we know where we are going if we don't know where we came from?
@@aleencross oh my!! To be honest when we were on the hills in Paramin. I came out of the car and was a bit scared to move. The hill are steep and I didn't want to move in fear of falling. But some how I got the inspiration to take a few steps next thing you know I was dancing down the hill 😆😁😁 someone was playing ole school kaiso music and I was totally enjoying the moment😁😁
