I don't know why but this is my favourite. So beautiful. I saw them now 3 times (Werchter, Lotto-arena Antwerp and paleis 12 Brussels) in Belgium but still want to see them a 4th,5th,... time.
only recently discovered this band .. excellent working class music with real soul! In a time when U2 have lost there edge these guys are most welcome!!! well done guys FANTASTIC!!
There's a certain romantic vibe about spending otherwise meaningless time with people you honestly love. This song almost brings me to tears as I've gotten older. Garvey's lyrics are phenomenal, as usual.
What I love most about Elbow's live performances are the genuine smiles you can see on the orchestra member's faces.
ive come to adore this song. it gets more aposite with age :)
Seen these guys many times; never disappointed. Always brilliant and fantastic
Local lad no doubt
What a beautiful track and arrangement of it
Oh no - not another masterpiece. I love this

it is class, not as good as the birds ..... to be honest it's so difficult to make and elbow top 3. but you can't not love this :)
but hey everyone has their favourite. lyrics are unreal
The 4th time in February. Me happy.

Yeah ! Fuck bono and the edge
Doesn't get much fucking better than this! Guy Garvey + Elbow= Brilliance.
relate to this so much. there actually is no better waste of time than being with your sad captains.
Need to see them live! Somehow, someday...
Just what I was thinking!!!!
do it. a memory you will never forget x
Well I certainly hope you got the chance. Just saw them this past Friday for the first time and it was easily the greatest concert I've ever seen.
It was the best musical experience I've had! November 3rd, Fillmore Philadelphia, PA. Make it happen!
Luckily enough been to see them 8 or 9 times in the past twenty years the best British band in those times you’ll get your chance and enjoy
I used to work at a Starbucks and I was an opener, having this song playing at 5am before mayhem started, I always took it as a blessing 🤍
All there music speakes for it selves, but only the people who really understands, can hear it.
a song about getting smashed with your best mates watching the sun rise. written with the mastery of Shakespeare. perfect.

Sad and beautiful song
Was so gutted I couldnt go...favourite place and band xxxx
My "goosebumps anthem"...
My 'Sad Captain' sadly died. This and 'The night will always win' bring him back for a brief moment. Comes at a painful yet beautiful cost tho'.
I want Elbow to sing this at my burial.

sad song
TNT Worship no, just melancholy
Pete looking cool as F in his bucket hat
I think whoever was filming it fancies the Violinist with the leather jacket. She was in shot more than the band
