I bought this game a couple of weeks ago after watching some of your vids. This game really is coming on in leaps and bounds with 0.5 and all the additions it brings with it. The lighting update and the fishing mechanics are fantastic.
The realistic nature of fishing in this game is incredible!! You literally build your rod just as you would in reel life 😂 thanks foe the heads up on which skills you need to have in order to craft the rods and such! Great video, much more in depth than any other I’ve seen!
Fishing is lovely~ Only thing the disappointed me is, that you can cook the whole fish, without needing to chop it down into fillets, even has "check taste" and "eat" option, it will show you the usually slightly cooked and cooked. But! If you click on "eat", nothing will happen... : / Had a 2.3kg Orata, cooked it, couldn1t eat it... then l tried a 0.1kg Sardine, again, nothing. Hope it will be fixed and we can eat whole fish too!
@@RayKit Seems like they fixed it. Can't cook whole fish now, nor eat them. Did had some calm fishing with friend, caught like 12 orata and a tuna haha
As a rather new player these tutorial videos are both incredibly helpful and encouraging as they both open up the map in terms of places I feel comfortable enough to explore but also something new to try as I’m currently getting a stockpile and gear ready for a fishing expedition day.
I hope there will be a craftable hobo reel which fits in the backpack and can be taken out for a little survival fishing at any time even if you have two weapons on your back. (You can take back the line from the water if you press V instead of yank up.)
what do you mean? you can craft one and put it on your back if you don't have the hiking backpack to put it in. do you want a tiny one you can put in a craftable backpack?

Lovely video, wow I didn't realise you could use focus mode to see where the fish are, would be great to see a good tutorial vid about Tuna fishing it's very different from shallow water fishing and I'm struggling to master it.
Thanks for the tutorial. What do you think about making a series where you show how to get in and out of bunkers and POI's while avoiding the mechs? With all the new bunkers this would be really helpful.

Best way i have found to fish is just like normal fishing, cast out leave it sitting in the water like you would, no need to keep reeling in then casting again, just leave it where it lands and wait. When the float dips, STRIKE... Fight the fish and bring it in. Fish for dinner. YUMMEH!

Played 16 hours running from dock to dock to village and still not a single fishing rod.. can't create one with my low skill but guess I have to reroll a character if i can't find a rod. Do you mind telling us/asking devs, if rods even spawn on the island? And if so, where because as of now, met pretty much nobody who has found a single rod. Everyone spawned one in via command
you dont have to reel the line in while you wait. just let it float till a fish pulls the bobber down. then you left click not just a quick tap. full click to hook the fish. also there is def a bug around catching larger fish. 1. they dont get tired ever, 2. even a 5kg fish can break your 10kg line super easy. any fish over 5kg good luck they just take all your line
You can do it either way. After some testing you can leave it or trickle it. I was taught sea fishing not lake fishing. Sea fishing you trickle it unless your sea bed fishing for dog fish for example. caught many of them and conger eels too! All off the coast of Cornwall. Pollock Mackeral etc. Appreciate the comment man and we'll see future updates and see how it goes!
The only problem i have is in the crafting menu it says you can use makeshift rope, thread, or rope to craft the rod but in the game it would only let me use rope and not the makeshift kinds. I hope they fix it.
@@ruscala322 How do you catch it? I have 0.25 line and pro bait. And a factory rod and reel. But the line is always in the red zone so I scroll down much, and it seems fish isn't going to get weak.
@@San4itos There is a 0.5 line, red rod, pro reel, sardine bait and I flick the mouse wheel up into the red and roll down almost immediately, both with shift pressed, rinse and repeat, kinda hard to explain but it works.
@@San4itos Also the rod type means nothing, the pro reel draws in fastest and I always use treble hooks, and fish don't tire out from what I've seen.......like ever lol
This helps but idk what im doing wrong, the line always breaks on the second throw and the big fish pull so hard its almost impossible to reel it in for me.
Nice tutorial. But i always have the problem, i cant catch Bigger fish.....the line always brok if i get some fater dudes. If i give hime some Line bc i dont want to break him, the rood make strange wobbles :D U got an answer for that? greetings :)
I know this is a few months old now. But its patch 6.0 and I am having issues with fishing, it won't reel in all the time and I have to click a few buttons to get it to start reeling, then it still won't work every time i scroll the wheel. I also don't have line animations most the time like it shows here.. anyone else having issues lately? I remember it worked before, but I haven't fished much lately.
So to craft an improvised Fishing Rod you need 5m rope, cant use normal rope, that you make from sticks? I dont think I have seen a 5m rope in months. probably will find a rod before I can craft and improvised rod.
i was missing the bobber! i thought it would work without it. NOPE! i went ahead and looted a bunch of liquor cabinets in a2 town. got like 10+ in less than 5 minutes of looting, looting those little liquor holders in houses. then i just make needles out of zambie bones. i wish you could loot a full fishing rod in houses but at least you can craft what you need like similar scenarios. like a lack of ak bullets(craft them). over 2k hours in the game so far. i never truly like the vehicle portion. i wish there were servers that had just motor boats and bicycles. i like to get the achievements in this game. i recommended to the devs in my steam review to add more sea crafts like craftables and findables like a big old school wooden ship that can hold cannons. a ferry ship would be insane(carrying vehicles and more). i think there should at least be an automated ferry that goes between z1 base and naval base. CiGrip lets go

Just a heads-up the floats if you take them out of the package they don't show in the vicinity for some reason the glowing one did'nt show up and only noticed them because it was night
Apparently, it IS possible to catch those super big fish somehow. There are a couple people on my server who I have seen regularly catch tuna at around 20kg! But they won't share their secret... Can you find this out and let us know? I love all your content! Thanks!

You need high strength to catch big fish. I don't know why no videos say this but if you don't have high enough strength you won't be able to catch much above 5kg.

yeah my buddy was letting out line on a fish for 15 min trying to tire it out to just give up and let the fish snap the line eventually, dont think its possible to catch big fish right now

Some fishs are kinda close to the max what your rod+line can handle. Then you have to reel slowly in even if the bar hits the top red box.
Yeah it can change sometimes. No doubt it will be worked on more at some point but for a first instalment its great

You don't need to reel the line in while fishing. I find its easier to see the bite if you leave it stationary until the fish bites.
Both ways are still effective though

I do reel line float hook and then bait ...also you holding left click after you cast so you ready to strike

Seems both work quite well but as sea fishing taught me. Nothing like a fish chasing the bait. Makes it more luring haha. But yes DINNER TIME!

But you need a boat, can't catch them, they are too far.

Try to not go to the top of the bar when pulling him in this will snap the wire and you can lose your line and everything else. Take your time

It's still a way off the fishing in RDR2 (which is astonishing) but it's a great start and I'm sure it'll develop as they go.
It's a lot better than rdr2 though even at this stage.
where are you suposed to find the wine corks
You can find them around, try industrial areas harbour towns etc
Also found one on a farm the one with the grapevine

You don't have to reel it when you put a bobber on.

Even with the best equipment, some fish break off, anybody knows how to fix it?

they fall into the ground. you really have to look down and you'll see the tip of them you can pick up.

pro tip, don't be this guy, don't reel in a floater, you reel in spinners and lures, not floater bait or sinker bait.

There are sharks in the game. Why can't we be fishing a shark ? Devs should add this before they lead 1.0
