  • In this powerful interview we hear about Matilda’s life and influences. We learn about her passion for art and about her sight loss journey. Her condition is Uveitis which is inflammation of the middle layer of the eye. This can cause eye pain, cataracts and changes in vision.
You can follow Matilda and see more of her art on Instagram @mattie_art
We hope these stories will resonate and encourage others to move forward on their own sight loss journey, as well as help sighted people to understand more about what visually impaired people experience.

Her story could have been my story with very few differences… It is difficult to connect with other people going through something similar, that you can resonate with.… The visually impaired is already a small community, and visually impaired artists that paint and draw is extremely tiny! thank you for sharing it, hope in the future there are ways for people like us to connect and create some thing together❤️

Wow!! This video has helped me be even more creative as I was diagnosed with Keratoconus at the age of 26..My left eye had to have cornea transplant due to bad vision..I am now 37 and still create paintings and comics! My issue is that when I do sketch, I have to be able to see the light sketches and now use darker lines..Youre Awesome😀

Yes! Same here… I have retinitis pigmentosa, I thought I couldn’t do art again because I couldn’t see pencil lines… I just had to get around doing things differently… There are lots of different ways to do art and I’m gonna do it anyway I can :-) and apparently so are you! Lol
