+R Double E-S-E-S Yes P to The U Double F-S Yes It's okay though, I wouldn't blame you. The 70s was when Anime and manga had the biggest explosion of diverse artstyles. There was so much more variety back then due to younger manga artists being taking ispiration from the old artists, reworking their techniques to evolve their own; and the old artists were borrowing techniques from the west. It wasn't really until the late 90s when Anime/manga art began to look more uniform with one another. Due to artists mimicking more popular ones, to specific genres being associated with specific types of styles.

Key elements from this work [and others like Stop!! Hibari-kun!]: zero agendum; round characters; adequately colorful setting; thoroughly engrossing creativity. Key elements from many contemporary works: contrived message; one-dimensional cast; oversaturated setting; mundane humor.
@@WAEVOICE Characters from Hibarikun are not close from creative regarding the time it was produced. The humor is very Toriyamaish (Dr Slump period), the characters are designed as you expect them to be from that time, not even to mention how androgynous characters were common in the 70s' and 80s'. It's fun to watch now but otherwise it hasn't much anything of the qualities you claim. Some could even call it dull regarding the context it was produced. The only thing now is you see a gay character you yell agenda. The real difference is a big proportion of the population nowadays has developed pavlovian reflexes over anything they consider polemical.

this was exactly the same in the manga and I remember it made me laugh a lot
