Literally what for? It's already out there and finished and good, a reboot would be superfluous. You just have to convince people to watch older shows. Not that that's easy to accomplish, but it would solve the issue of great works living in relative obscurity. Remakes do not help!

Imo having a reboot incites people to talk about the original anime and to be frank the old version is getting harder and harder to watch because of it’s old graphics that are extremely outdated. I cant lie i have to get some getting used to when i try to rewatch it bc im so used to modern animation.
@@christinalim2320 I think 80s anime often looks much better than what we get now but Rose of Versailles, visually, is more of the 70s than 80s in my opinion, and the outdatedness of it is pretty clear. I think what they managed to do is still wildly impressive, but unlike with shows made even just four years after, it's less retro cool and more, quaintly retro, at times. Characters are so grand it's still able to be one of my favorites but I wouldn't mind a new style. And I tend to *hate* the argument that something great needs "updating." But the beauty of this intro for example does have me salivating a bit.

This story shaped the childhood of hundreds of my countrymen and women back in the 80s (in Italy "Lady Oscar" is one of the most famous anime of all time). Now many teenagers, even those of my generation (2002) are forgetting this brilliant masterpiece and it's a shame; a new adaptation, more faithful to the manga, could be the solution.

What are we doing? Shall we redo all the masterpieces? Madness, it would be crap. The only solution is to recover the old cartoons. If young people don't like them, it means they don't understand anything!

But there are some minor changes to the narrative of the manga, so if a remake will be done in the future I hope it will respect the original masterpiece. Not all remakes are crap like the new Disney's live-action (except Cinderella). An example of a good remake is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood : it's more faithful to the manga but it's just as good as the original anime.

I sadly never read the manga but the original anime was so great, it didn't take children as idiots, it managed to tackle the mature subjects of those troubled times in history with respect and dignity. This remake seems very nicely done and respectful of the source material, the graphics are gorgeous too. I won't say much to not spoil anyone aside that some of these images beautifully displays some of the most iconic scenes of the original (including André and Oscar's confession, which is literally my youtube avatar since the beginnings of YT lol). Now i want to find my DVDs and watch it all, thinking back at how lucky we were in the 80s to have such amazing animes to watch in french-speaking countries.

Oscar is a such a role model to all the little girls out the there. Although she is not a real person like Lady Antoinette and Fersen she definitely have a better influence on kids than any of them. I love Oscar ❤❤❤

I am impressed by the quality of the images. Has it been remade with modern techniques. I am watching again the original series on the internet and the quality is far from this. El anime original es un clásico insuperable aceptenlo, fue adelantado a su época, tanto el guión, la música, como la animacion ya que fue animado por el maestro Shingo Araki, el mismo de Saint seiya y el final trágico es perfecto, porque la vida real es una tragedia mucho peor que la ficción, hacer un remake solo para darle gusto a los millenials, sería torpe y de mal gusto, así esta escrito y así quedará. Solo queda disfrutarlo.

Why the hell @cruchyroll and netflix don't make a remake of this iconic piece? The anime adaptation did not capture the author intention at the time. It really should get a better shot. So many shoujos were influenced by Versailles no Bara.

Recomiendo verla en japones, tiene una calidad de audio e imagen superior, en cuanto a las voces es genial, lo comencé a ver doblado y al pasar al original el ambiente cambia pero ambas versiones son grandiosas.
yo tambien lo recomiendo, los dialogos en la version latina estan bastante alterados y se censura muchas cosas de caracter sexual
