- I still have my first car and I'm working on it again. This is a bit about the history of my life with this car. I have seen many different versions of my car and it's about to take a new direction.
Love the history behind it, makes me want to keep my cutlass and just finish my ls
I'm very happy I still have it.
Your history will the Malibu sounds almost exactly like my story with my 69 Chevelle. Awesome man!
Thanks, glad you can relate and enjoyed the video.
I just bought the same 81 Malibu that I also used to drive in highschool. I paid $8700 Canadian but it's mint from South Carolina. I live downtown Toronto and bought a 6.0 litre LS for it. Thanks for your video. And the spending mistakes
Very nice! Sounds like a good project.
My first car was also an 81 Malibu I still have it bought for $800 when I was 15 back in 1999 drove it through high school took it to prom and my wedding also unfortunately it's been sitting in my garage for the last few years waiting. Crazy similarities watching the video I was like Holy Shit!
That's awesome. Hopefully this series of bringing it back to life inspires you to work on it. This has been a long time coming, and I'm looking forward to it being usable and enjoyable. Thanks for watching!
Newfie blue??? hahahaha Awesome man!
I understand the nostalgia connected with your first car. My mother sold mine when I was overseas, and I never got over it. it was a 1952 Chevy that I had done quite a bit of work on. I chromed the engine, built a split manifold for it, ran glass packs on it raised the back end, lowered the front, had big and little's on it with custom built reversed rims, beauty rings and baby moons. The first thing I did was put a floor shift in it and install a radio since it was a radio delete. All this sounds pretty small but I paid for everything myself on minimum wages and there were a lot more small things I did to it. She claimed she sold it because someone broke into it and stole the "very modern" head rests I had installed in it. She could not understand why I was so upset over a car. I ended up buying and fixing up five more Similar Chevy"s over the years and didn't stop until I was in my thirties and moved on to muscle cars. Most all true car guys have some similar connection to their first cars.
Great story about your 52. I almost sold or traded this a few times. I'm glad it never worked out that way. My son's 65 Corvair will not be sold either as long as I'm around. Thanks for watching.
Looking forward to the reincarnation, good luck with it.
Thanks for watching.
My first car was also an '81 Malibu. It was Canary yellow with two black racing stripes when I sold it to a guy in Clarington ON area in 96-97. Original 267 , beige Landau car from Edmonton. in my youth stupidity, I hacked out the front bench and put in crap buckets. Always wonder what happened to that car....
I think I remember seeing that car for sale on Taunton road like 20 years ago. I grew up in Bowmanville.
@@SlowCarFix very cool, thanks.
Might just bite the bullet and get a UVIP package and run the vin.
Love your car!
@@ianrs6310 You might not like what you find, but you never know until you look. Lots of stories of people finding their first car again and getting it back. good luck and let me know if you find it. I'm glad I hung on to mine all these years.
Your family's from Newfoundland?! That's where I'm from; have been in Ontario for 20 years...I don't have my first car anymore (87 Toyota Tercel 4WD wagon)...cars in NL rust even faster than in ON!
Yes, my family is all from NFLD. Thanks for watching.
Don’t see any from that year around here in N.C. Going to be nice when you get that LS in it.
Thanks for watching. I'm looking forward to the process and getting it back on the road.
