Hello, do you know that the first department store in the Philippines was opened here in Iloilo City in 1877 by the Hoskyn brothers in the central business district area? It is called Hoskyn's building or compound and is being preserved as a cultural heritage building. The Hoskyn brothers were nephews of Nicholas Loney who was a British vice-consul to Iloilo City and whom the Iloilo City River Wharf was named after. Just some interesting info in case you don't know. Well enjoy your visit despite the hot and humid days😊

I always visit the city of love the ilonggo people and their food is what makes Iloilo a must visit city in the philippines.

You mentioned visiting the US. The US is so big, you have to pick an area of the country to explore if you only have one or two weeks. If your focus is California, don't spend all of your time in LA. San Francisco is worth visiting and the vineyards of Napa. The coast of California, especially Big Sur, is lovely drive. Also Yosemite, Sequoia, and Redwood national parks in northern California. The northeast of the US is more concentrated than the West, and you can drive (or take a train, Amtrak) from Boston, to New York City, to Philadelphia to Washington, DC if you want to exp[ore these historic cities. If you come in the fall, Vermont is terrific for the changing leaves and that state's small, picturesque villages. I could go on and on but I'll leave you with Santa Fe in New Mexico. Santa Fe isn't large, but the desert setting and the concentration on Native American and Spanish culture (cuisine, art, architecture) makes it worth visiting.

I live in the US since 1994; lived in Illinois, Massachusetts, NJ and now Texas; I suggest Disneyland in Anaheim, Ca but visit off peak, when kids are back in school; long lines during summer break; Universal Studios in Universal City, Ca; Seal Beach, smaller beach, quiet; I live in the suburbs of Houston if u decide to visit, we have the biggest medical center in the universe😊 lots of Filipino nurses❤
Hello George, Lucy and Koda glad to hear you're visiting the US. I'm what they call Fil Am and live in San Diego, California since 1976. If you are visiting the West Coast and you're in LA it's only a 2 hour drive to San Diego. This city is smaller than LA but less congested and cleaner in my opinion. So do come here and enjoy our city.

LA to San Diego, California via Amtrak. Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, Sesame Place, Old Town, etc
California is a good choice. My boyfriend lives there. He is now in New York for his residency as a doctor, he said NYC is a bit filthy and smelly but is a good place to visit as well.

Koda is becoming a comedian? So cute! I love museums and historical sites so when we go on vacation these places will always be included in my itinerary. Ah the yummy food which I always look forward to and the scenery.
Condos in McKinley are not as profitable as condos in the heart of BGC. You'll get more expat tenants if it's 2-bedroom and located near Serendra or The Fort.

The last time i visited Iloilo in 1983 and Boracay was just an island visited by British tourists backpackers living in Nipa Huts.
Totally different now.
The people of Iloilo are called Ilonggos, same as the people from Negros, Bacolod, Dumaguete and Guimaras. They are generally friendly, the way they speak sounds amorous like they're constantly begging/requesting/pleading a favor from you. It's called "malambing" or amorous. Even if they're full blown fighting, the tone of their voice still sounds amorous. But generally, the Ilonggos are probably the most innocent and guileless group of people in the country except for the indegenous Aetas of Luzon.
The people of Dumaguete are NOT Ilonggos.. they are mostly Cebuano speakers.. And I'll also be careful nowadays to call people from Negros Occidental esp Bacolod.. Ilonggos... majority of them don't want to be called Ilonggos anymore... they preferred to be called Negrense and Bacolodnon.. and they speak another LANGUAGE daw called Hiligaynon... although the Hiligaynon and the Ilonggo language are exactly the same.

Visit a West Coast state on the mainland (48 continguous states) then stop off in Hawaii (50th state) which is on the way to the Philippines.
Come to Seattle (Coffee City) in the US, the Pacific Northwest. But better to come June-August when not cold and rainy like the UK. I’m an avid viewer from the Philippines but live in Seattle now.

Def plan out what you wanna do in the US cuz like everyone is saying, there’s a lot to do out here. I’m located in San Diego, California (south of LA). In Cali alone, there’s alot of national parks if you wanna go for the adventure and alot of beach towns along the coast. Or if there are specific states you wanna visit, just plan around where you wanna go. There are 50 states after all lol.
Now, if you are planning to be here for months, just a thought but maybe renting a Camper Van might be fun and you’ll be able to do long drives across the US or focus on the west side/ east side of the US. But pls do ur research first and see if it’s something you’d do with Koda. There are cool amusement parks mostly in LA and Orlando Florida and lots of zoos.

If you’re visiting U.S. explore the east coast side that includes New York and down to southeast sunshine state Orlando Florida where you’ll enjoy the package your for Disney World, Universal Studio and Epcot are really good attraction and for sure you’ll enjoy it better than California. I’m from California but I enjoyed much to see in Orlando Florida especially Epcot . Koda will love it. All adults wil enjoy the attractions in Florida and it’s worth for your trip. By the way coming from England, you will be flying over the Atlantic Ocean side on a shorter trip straight to u.s.a.
