I am studio recording engineer and have been beginning a journey in live streaming, have noticed that so many streamers are super quiet... there is just no info out there that is any good, until this video! Was going to wind up making one myself, but youve done so well I wont need to now! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much!!! I do a daily podcast using OBS and I have the RODE PODCASTER and RODE PODMIC. The quality was already there but I noticed that other videos on UA-cam had a lot more volume without distortion or clipping. FINALLY, you have shown me the key!!! I just made a test video after adding the compressor and limiter to OBS (using your settings) and it is like a whole new video. I can't thank you enough for making this information plain and available. God bless you. -John (Steele, MO)
Small update. I have now tried those new settings. Man the sound is just so much better. I play Trance - Hard Trance - Hard House It was a nightmare with the sound levels. Now I can actually hear what's coming through the live stream with clarity. Again thanks a lot for the info I have been searching for 4 weeks to get the sound right. I have not gone live yet as I am seriously critical when it comes to sound quality. Now I have the confidence to do it 🙏
Your a legend. I've just been listening to one of my streams and it was defo to loud. I've made all the adjustments so hopefully it will be much clearer next time!!!!
Thank you for the video. Great info Pri. Setting up to broadcast a live band performance using an Apollo Console as my virtual mixer then going into OBS.
I was having problems with OBS sound quality on my DJ streams - seemed oddly muffed and distorted and after following the guidelines in this tutorial I now have a far superior sound for my streams. Nice work dude!!
Thank you so much for this advice! Added these to my audio capture channels and the improvement cannot be understated. I always struggled getting a studio quality sound through OBS!
Wonderful…I’m sick at present, but I did a recording of my voice with those settings on an old EliteBook Surface pro…and the Audi quality is wonderful. I’m a vocalist crooner, but primarily a singer songwriter and always lamented how the audio quality wasn’t great! I can’t wait to be well again and a LIVE30 set where I sing and play for 30 minutes…thanks again friend!
Great explaination for compressor and limited. Thumbs up. I'm looking for how to set the noise gate and suppression particularly for music and vocal. Do you any video for this?
very very helpful 🤩 didn't have such a good and even sound despite good control on the mixer. thank you very much for that 🙏😃✌️ I wish you continued success 🍀
I myself do gaming videos so knowing this will hopefully help me get a good balance with my mic and game audio. It is really difficult to get the balance right, in fact i have never gotten the balance right. Thank you for this tips, I hope this helps me out.
There should be a 6-15db difference between your voice and the volume of the game. It’s ok to have the game or background music quieter. Audience can turn their volume up, but they can fix it when the background is too loud.
Thank you so much for this video.....I do have a question. Would you recommend this technique for singers playing covers that are going through a mixer? I monitor the feed out of the Mixer, and set OBS to just stay out of red. But, it seems to me that this technique could still be useful.
thank you, if anyone needs to make their audio louder in editing try adding a gain filter for both your mic and desktop audio at equal levels so it doesnt clip with it
That's exactly where I'm struggling. How do you add a filter to game? I have it for the mic but for the game it only gives you a visual preset and I haven't seen any vids on how to add a filter to the game audio
Hi, very informative video. i noticed you didn't show "gain". i have this for my external mic only @ around +22.50. i'm not quit happy with that. if i was to use it with both your oprions in exact order, does "gain" go 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. i noticed when i was messin around, when i put my "gain" on with other options you didn't mention, i had no sound. to me, it's like a puzzle, if not in a certain order, obs doesn't work correctly.
Pri yon Joni... You are a king for this information. Appreciate you bro 🙌🏾 I have one question? I use the IRig stream for my audio coming out of my mixer. I noticed in your video that you control your audio settings through the mic/aux. In the audio mixer section of obs... It shows my IRig stream and Mic/aux. I'm trying to figure out which one should I control my properties through to stream with the proper audio. Do I control it through the IRig stream or Mic/aux? Or both. I'm just confused LOL. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

But when I listen back to the stream, it is distorting.
Because I never changed the level. It’s at 0dB. The limiter is set to -3dB to provide 3dB of headroom in case any peaks go past the threshold. That is why there is no clipping in any of my examples or my live streams.
@@priyonjoni On a usb interface or my interface (yamaha ur22), there isn’t a way to tell if it’s set at 0db.
