Are your magnificent brushes going to be for sale? I need to save up for them if they are, but really love how long and soft they are and how they hold their shape and lots of paint!
Painting in a series is SO HELPFUL. I would LOVE to be looking over your shoulder as you do that. I appreciate how clearly you explain your process. Thank you for this.
YES to the River Series! 👏 Not only is it interesting to see the differences in light and color with the changing angle of the sun, it’s very helpful to hear how you perceive it and what your artist’s eye picks out as important. If that river were near me, I’d want to paint it all the time, too 💙
I love the richness of colour in this piece. Beautiful. Yes, please, to painting the seasons (and weather and light) as they change. I love watching the seasonal changes along our river and woods.
Yes please Sarah - I'd LOVE to see your process in painting different seasons/times of day. Anything you produce is mind blowing and so inspiring. I can't thank you enough.
Beautiful and would love to see your paintings thru the progression of months. I too am fascinated by Monet’s paintings of the same subject in varying light conditions ❤
Yes.. especially with emphasis on the “light” as it changes. Beautiful subject matter here…I envy you the countrysides you visit so near you. Just beautiful!
Yes, please show your journey of painting this at different times of the year. Seeing the finished products would be wonderful, but seeing your process would be even more wonderful. Thanks, Sarah.
Multiple paintings of one subject is very fun. I paint my driveway where it curves past the woods by the meadow. 22 years of trees growing, falling, fence falling apart, seasonal change...it never gets old. Thanks for starting this project. I am looking forward to updates when it snows.
Monet did something similar with the Rouen cathedral series, but the paintings are from different times of the day rather than seasons. Apparently he rented a room with a view of the cathedral and had several canvases set up, one for each time of day, and would paint on each canvas as much as he could until the light changed, and then would move to the next canvas until the light changed again, and then the next and the next, and so on throughout the day!
Hullo Sarah, thank you for sharing this amazing painting video with us! I worked in gouache 20+ years ago and it was not a good choice for permanent artworks! Most Designers Gouache is still made for temporary work. You create your design, take a photograph and put in away or as when I was working with gouache every project was shredded after the client had approved the work. Today gouache paint can be an archival medium, if you buy the correct line of paint from a brand you trust! You can find the information on brands by reading about their paints online the company website or in watching reviews on UA-cam! Most quality paints have information on the tube! You just need to look and read about the product you want to buy. Now Sarah knows this, I hope that it helps anyone who wants or needs more information about gouache.
I think this is your best painting yet. I went from Scotland to the Sahara and back to Scotland in those colours. The values and subtle colour changes are beautiful.
Stunning painting. Would love to see more of the river paintings…. Mornings, noon, and evening for 12 months…. 36 paintings challenge 😂😊, a video at the end of the 12 months as well showing you progression as an artist.
I love those trees! Thanks for giving me a new thing to try. I would love to see different versions (over time, in the studio, etc.) of the same scene or subject. Also, thanks for all the fun Patreon and UA-cam tutorials this year! Happy New Year!
I enjoyed last video with your Watercolor paintings and this Gouache painting of a lake scene with Fall colors. I would love to see the same scene in different seasons as well. It’s a beautiful spot that would look great in any season. I like watching your videos with your painting journey and photography skills. It’s so wonderful seeing Scotland! I paint lots of landscapes in Watercolor, Gouache, and Oil paint in Arizona, USA.
This came out, so soft and lovely and glowing. I just love it. Something really cool happened while I was watching your video. At the beginning, when you were describing painting, the scene again, and the way the light affected everything the first thing that I thought of was Monet’s haystacks! And then you mentioned them later in the video!
This turned out super beautiful! The warm tones came out really beautiful and vibrant! I'm like you in the sense that I dislike repeating things, but I've also found it helpful to paint something again or to do intial sketches of scenes to get a better feel for things.
I am tempted to go back to gouache after seeing this video. I really like what you have achieved. Painting with gouache is definitely closer to oil than watercolor. Thanks for posting it!
Hi Sarah! I just wanted to thank you for all your amazing content. I love painting landscapes but felt intimidated by it, so I kept changing what I painted. Your experiences and approaches, really gave me confidence in continuing pursuing landscape painting. I also love watercolor and Gouache! I would love to see the process of the light changing in this subject throughout the year. Thanks again, have a wonderful time painting 😊 see you around!
I'm looking forward to trying this method as I have been struggling with mixing gouache on the palette. I kept finding myself dipping the brush in the paint and going directly to the paper, sometimes mixing colors then. I would really enjoy more tutorials with this style - I'm a visual learner :)
Thanks Sarah, loved this video and would yes please love to watch you paint this again and again, over the year! Painting in this way reminds me of oil, even though oil doesn’t dry fast!
Yes Sarah a series would be great!! If you are up to it. As a semi retired artist in Ontario Canada I used to camp in summers and did sunrises of same spots for many years outdoors in watercolours with ink. Every day different!! Took photos also for reference. Mobility issues prevent that now. Just small watercolours outside my window of trees etc. or from my balcony.or old photo reference of mine. Thank forsharing!! Haven't seen your videos in awhile. From chilly Ontario. ❤❤😊😊.
I would love to see both how the lamdscape.changes AND how your approach to painting develops. I love doing that for.myself and the changes are always surprising. . . .
Beautiful, Sarah! Love your channel! I agree, painting the same thing more than once can help you improve as you learn. But I notice that I also make the same mistakes on subsequent attempts! Watching you in your color and value studies reminds to do the same.
Hi, Sarah! What a lovely painting! Yes, please to the series across the year. Sorry this is brief - I'm up to my eyes in completing a complex project by next Sunday (15th Dec,) Eek!!! 😊
Lovely video! I'd be quite interested in seeing you paint the river several times in different seasons, that would be a wonderful series or video. Thank you for what you do! (Gouache newb here)
This music sounds like a chill instrumental cover of "Dame tu aire" by Alex ubago 😂😂 it's hitting the exact same notes, just without the lyrics and a different instrument of course. but i knew it sounded familiar until it clicked in my brain. i find it hilarious because the original is such a dramatic romantic song, it wouldn't fit your video at all, yet here we are somehow 😂😂and i found myself singing along lol.
I will be interested to see different seasonal paintings if that river. I'm in Australia. Our native trees are evergreen. I live very close to a national park, and two large rivers, and the ocean. All if the treescapes are very dull green, no matter the season.

Yes they are available now! craftamo.com/collections/sarah-burns-studio-x-craftamo and there will be a Black Friday sale soon
Yes, please do more with this subject during the year!
Painting in a series is SO HELPFUL. I would LOVE to be looking over your shoulder as you do that.
I appreciate how clearly you explain your process. Thank you for this.
Yes please! More of the same subject in different seasons/light. ❤
The colors are perfect. I’d love to see the evolution of the river scene through the seasons.

I’d love to see that!
I’d love to see the series as it evolves and hear about how you choose at all along the way.
Your autumn river scene is lovely. It will be fun to see the scene in different seasons.
I really love the warmth of this last rendition. Beautiful job.

I love seeing a subject painted multiple times with different angles or colors etc. Thanks for the great video.
A series of this scene would be brilliant!
I immediately thought of Monet’s haystack study and giggled when you brought it up. We’re obviously on the same page. Lovely to watch.
Thank you, Sarah. Yes, one subject through the whole year is a great idea so you just got my vote :)
yes! i would love to see more on the different paintings over time. that is something i struggle with so hard. also the end result is so beautiful!
I would love to see more of the same subject. I am loving your boxes and brushes!!! Thank you for making gouache accessible
That’s great to hear!!
Love the idea of using pure white to help gauge shades of colors.
Would love to see this as a series!

Sarahs Gouache database found on on her Fearless Brush blog has tons of this kind of info
Great idea Sarah, look forward to your seasonal paintings. Loving the autumn painting, you have certainly captured the scene.
Love this saturated sunset version!!!!!!
I think this is your best painting yet. I went from Scotland to the Sahara and back to Scotland in those colours. The values and subtle colour changes are beautiful.
Lovely! Those colors changed the whole scene.
Gorgeous! More of the same through the seasons? Yes, please.

Now there’s an idea..
I'd love to see how this scene changes over time
Really nice! The well thought out layering of colors was cool to watch. The colors and style reminded me a bit of Frederic Church's sunset sketches.
At the end your palette was GORGEOUS too!
I always love how the palette looks 😆 I leave it untouched until my next session because it inspires me to
I love those trees! Thanks for giving me a new thing to try. I would love to see different versions (over time, in the studio, etc.) of the same scene or subject. Also, thanks for all the fun Patreon and UA-cam tutorials this year! Happy New Year!
the sky really looks incredible in this! 🥰
Please share the process! This is so inspiring. You make me want to go out and paint. Thank you for sharing your journey and talents with us!❤❤

I often agree! It’s like in between oil, watercolor and acrylic all at once 😆

Thank you, that's very kind! I'm so glad seeing the process inspires you. Never give up!
Thanks fit pointing it that values only shift subtly at sunset. I have not noticed that before.
I'm looking forward to trying this method as I have been struggling with mixing gouache on the palette. I kept finding myself dipping the brush in the paint and going directly to the paper, sometimes mixing colors then. I would really enjoy more tutorials with this style - I'm a visual learner :)
I would like to watch as you paint this scene in various seasons. Thank you for sharing with us.
I love this version of the river scene 😊. Yes, please to many versions of the scene, Monet's work is fascinating!
I would love to see the journey of you painting the river in different seasons
Thanks Sarah, loved this video and would yes please love to watch you paint this again and again, over the year! Painting in this way reminds me of oil, even though oil doesn’t dry fast!
I would love to see various paintings throughout the year of the same place. It would be a fascinating exploration of the subject.
Stunning painting! Yes, I would be very keen to see this done at different times of the year :)
Yes Sarah a series would be great!! If you are up to it. As a semi retired artist in Ontario Canada I used to camp in summers and did sunrises of same spots for many years outdoors in watercolours with ink. Every day different!! Actually seeing you do the same science over and over year would be nice both as you do it and then a tour at the end of the year as well.
Very interesting ! ❤❤❤ I love all the landscapes and sketchbook tours as well! Thank you for sharing original art.
Yes, would love to see a progressing of the same scene through the seasons.

Love it , please continue with the different seasons 🎉🎉🎉
Yes show more in a series!
Beautiful artwork. Would absolutely love to see it evolve over the year. ❤
Very nice! This time even the ripples on the water work much better !
I would love to see both how the lamdscape.changes AND how your approach to painting develops. I love doing that for.myself and the changes are always surprising. . . .
Good point - in a year I might be doing things differently! (probably..as we are always evolving)
I would love to see you do multiples of the same subject.
I would love to see the winter version of the river.
@sarah please put this paint in your subscription box!! ❤Love this ❤
I would really enjoy seeing you paint this scene in different seasons..it would be very helpful!
This is one of my favorite paintings you have done
Beautiful, Sarah! Love your channel! I agree, painting the same thing more than once can help you improve as you learn. But I notice that I also make the same mistakes on subsequent attempts! Watching you in your color and value studies reminds to do the same.
I do too sometimes, but think about learning a language. It takes a LOT of repetition to finally remember those conjugations. Painting is the same ☺️
I love this with the warm colors so mich
Yes! Do more seasons!
Hi, Sarah! What a lovely painting! Yes, please to the series across the year.
Sorry this is brief - I'm up to my eyes in completing a complex project by next Sunday (15th Dec,) Eek!!! 😊
Please share your journey of painting, the same subject. Pretty much anything you do is interesting to watch.
Monet’s work is very inspiring so, yes, please share your series 🖌️🖼🎨
Beautiful little painting 😊 Thanks for the video!
Love this approach and the different results! Thank you!
Lovely video! I'd be quite interested in seeing you paint the river several times in different seasons, that would be a wonderful series or video. Thank you for what you do! (Gouache newb here)

Yes, please show how you complete your year study. Thank you
I’d like to see the changes
I would love to see a Monet series of the Spey :)
Yes please ❤
Good morning from the Pacific Northwest, USA 🇺🇸
Painting thick with gouache is a lot like painting with oil, except it dries soo much faster like acrylics, except you can keep reworking it after it dries
Very true!
Stunning! What will you do with remaining gouache on palette ? Cover it and use again? (I'm almost tempted to venture into gouache because of you!)
Yes, usually I put the whole palette inside one of my stay-wet palette boxes. It keeps for a couple of days, enough to use up.
